We just had the worst dining experience I believe we have ever had. Our family attempted to dine at HJ Wings & Things in Tyrone. Not too busy on a Friday. Poor service. Food was mediocre. Manager was unresponsive to our issues when presented to her. My wife.refused her food when placed in front of her. Food was left in front of her. Manager tried to charge us for food that was not acceptable. Refused to remove item from our check. Owner demanded that that we pay for food that was unacceptable. We had no issue paying for the appetizers and food that we consumed. The Tyrone police were called. Officer arrived and we explained the situation. Officer contacted their supervisor. Supervisor arrived. Supervisor then called their Lt. End result: we paid for food that was unacceptable. Overall bill was $83 and change. Food item in question was under $14. Let me clarrify: our intent was to pay for the food that was prepared correctly. There was never an offer to remove that food from our bill, to remake it, or to offer a substitute. The intent of management was for us to pay for the food that was unsatisfactory. Would leave a negative review if possible. read more

What's up with the bad reviews? Maybe my state is so lacking that Georgia seems like a 10/10 everywhere I went, but I really liked this place! We came at lunch time and were immediately seated. Service the whole time was really great and quick. We started with the onion rings, which in my opinion, could have possibly been the best I've ever had. I'm not even kidding. Beer battered, perfectly crispy. I would eat them every day if I could. I got the chicken sandwich with tots, which were ALMOST as good as the onion rings. Still very good, but not the king of all foods, chicken was perfectly crispy and tender at the same time, and sauce was nicely even. Idk how they do it, this place is the goat. My experience tonight was very disappointing unlike the other times I've visited. I came in at 7:08 pm and placed a fairly simple order. I was told it was be out in a few minutes but as it was a Friday night and the restaurant looked busy I was prepared to wait for a longer than usual time. What I was not prepared for was a 55 minute wait for 8 wings & a side of onion rings. I was also not prepared for the demeanor or the the response from the hostess when I inquired about the delay. She told me "there's nothing I can do about it". No apology for the delay. No offer to go check. After my second request she said she'd go check but actually went to bus a table. The third time I asked she then said they were making fresh wings and again "there's nothing I can do". No, you can't make the wings for me but you could apologize for the wait, you could actually check when asked, you could speak in a professional tone! I asked one of the other waitresses for the manager. She said she'd go find her. The manager never appeared. At 7:55 another waitress finally brought the order out and casually handled the bag to me with a half-a** " sorry for your wait" ! With the pandemic I try be patient with service staff and realize the challenges involved with supply chain issues but being nice to customers is free!! My wife and I ordered wings and pasta salad to go. We were going to split 12 wings. She went in to pay for the wings and brought them back to the car. We went to our local park and was going to park and eat since we arent eating inside because of Covid. My wife lifts the box straight from the floor board and was getting ready to fix our plates. She hollered it's hot. I immediately saw the scalding sauce was leaking at a fast rate out of the bag and down her seat and onto her lap. They did such a bad job packing the food in the box that they scalding sauce scalded her legs. We called the store and haven't heard anything back from the owners or anyone. The girl took her number and said there was nothing she could do - not even replace the food because of it scalding her. The sauce should have been packed in a separate bowl with a lid if they were going to pack the box in a way that the sauce would pour out through the bag into her lap. Apparently the sauce must have melted a hole in the bag. That's all we could think. Pictures attached. By the way, the wings are so large that they weren't good. The flavor was bad. When I talked to the manager a young guy all he said was well they looked like garlic Parmesan to me. Definitely will not ever go back to H.J. Wings & Things in sharpsburg, GA. I have been a customer of this place for a long time, ordering for family and also large orders for office lunches/parties. The complete disregard for community safety at the restaurant tonight made me angry. As a front line health professional who has watched the hospital struggle to deal with the volume of sick patients in our community, I could not believe the lack of masks, lack of social distancing, or even any attempt at making curbside pickup safe. One had to walk through a crowded area of unmasked customers just to get to the pickup area. If you walked into the restaurant tonight you could not have been able to tell that there is a pandemic. Every booth and table were full, standing room only at the bar, standing room only in the entryway with unmasked customers waiting for tables. Wings and Things has lost my family's and my company's business tonight by its lack of safety measures. I feel bad for the employees who were sort-of masked, and in no real position to try to make their work environment safe. Food here has always been fine but what made this place a favorite was the feel of it being a neighborhood place. I was first directed to the tables, but once I had told them that I wanted to just get some food for to-go they had then redirected me back to the bar. The waitress was very very friendly and bubbly. A solid 3.5. I like their wings especially with hotyaki sauce. Sometimes they're overcooked but they generally have a nice crunch to them. Service is usually good. One time our sides came out cold but they fixed it. I did not like their chicken tender salad because I got the chicken tossed in sauce but the sauce drenched the entire salad. Next time would ask for the tenders on the side so the sauce isn't overwhelming. They have a pretty big menu though so if you don't want wings you can get something else. Crispy, sizable, and always served hot and fresh to order. The menu has some other tasty options for non-wing eaters and plenty of options for typical kids menu faire. Visited this location in my neighborhood on a Wednesday night. Two booth are available and clearly empty. Along with three tables that seat four. We were shown to a hallway area with high seats in between the regular family restaurant area and the bar. When we requested a booth seat we were told it was reserved for parties of five or more. Clearly there were two available an there was a family of more than five that had two tables pushed together. Two hostess went to get a manager who only repeated the same thing and offered a table that sat four. Stopped here last night for the first time in quite a while. Upon walking in I saw they now have a big barrel of self serve peanuts. As I walked over to scoop out a bowl two different tables of people stopped me and said don't eat those, not fresh at all. I tried them regardless and you guessed it, they were right. We decided to place an order of potato skins and asked the waitress for them to be cooked well done. She asked "you want them crispy crispy like with brown cheese on top?" and we said yes, exactly. Ten minutes later she delivers half cooked droopy skins. I would've expected them to bee cooked better than this even if we didn't request well done. I asked her if she could get them to throw them back in the oven to brown them up a bit and she said ok. Twenty minutes later out came some skins that barely looked like they were cooked any more than the first. I asked the girl how it was possible that our food was gone for twenty minutes and they still didn't come out well done. She asked what I wanted her to do and I said don't worry about it, just please bring me my check, if they can't get it right twice I'm not dumb enough to think they'll get it right the third time. I wasn't mean, I wasn't a smart ass, she was a nice girl and it wasn't her fault. A few minutes later the owner Keith came over and asked why I just cussed out his server. He got a huge WHAT? out of both my girlfriend and myself. I was really caught off guard by him because it couldn't have been further from the truth. I don't accept lies very well and after being accused of something that simply didn't happen yes, I got a little pissed and the second I defended myself he got all spineless and started with the ol' "Oh I'm not saying you did it, I'm just saying that's what I was told". I asked him to bring my check for the pitcher, I'll pay the bill and I'll leave, no problem. He actually had the nerve to say "well who is going to pay for the two orders of skins sitting on the counter". I told him I never asked for a second order, I asked for the first order to be cooked more but if he feels its a good decision to charge a customer for something not cooked the way they ordered it go ahead and charge me. I guess after walking away he thought better of charging me for them because the same server who lied came back with my check for just the pitcher.
