It was my very first time ever visiting an H Mart, and wow--what an experience! This place is truly an Asian food heaven. I felt like a kid in a toy store, completely amazed as I explored every aisle. Everything is thoughtfully organized and visually appealing, with products neatly arranged and prices clearly displayed, making it easy (and honestly way too fun) to shop. The variety here is incredible--I wasn't even planning to buy groceries, but somehow walked out spending $130 without a second thought! The selection is what really blew me away. From snacks and drinks to a wide range of meats and fresh, prepared foods, there's something for everyone. I was especially excited to find pork jowl (which I've struggled to find in stores even before moving to Washington), along with sashimi-grade fish and even live seafood. It truly felt like a food lover's wonderland. I managed to resist the bakery and beauty section near checkout this time--but only barely because my hands were full. I'll definitely be back for those on my next visit! H Mart is located in a plaza with several other Asian businesses, which made the whole experience feel even more authentic. Parking is plentiful, though it can get pretty packed and busy, so just be mindful of cars constantly coming and going. I only interacted briefly with the cashier, but she was kind and welcoming, and I really appreciated how neatly she packed my groceries. I don't live in Lakewood, but this trip was 100% worth it--and I will absolutely be coming back! read more

H Mart - Inside - International Grocery Near Me - Lakewood, Washington

I had a feeling I could find a bunch of cheap Asian lunch options in one spot at H-Mart, and that feeling was right. I was hoping to find a corn and cheese sandwich like the ones at my favorite Asian supermarket in Sacramento, but no such luck. I passed up some phenomenal looking pork bulgogi rice bowls and spicy fried chicken boxes in the deli. The pan fried veggies looked really good too, as did the k-dogs. I almost walked out without finding the bakery, but finally noticed it in the front corner of the store by the checkout. Most of the items were not labeled with names or prices, which made it hard to pick out what I wanted. But, when I saw a hot dog bun with jalapeños and Korean BBQ sauce, I knew right away that I wanted that. It wasn't labeled with a price, but the price that I was charged was $5.99. As I was trying to pay, the cashier suddenly screamed at me, and I do mean SCREAMED at me, "NO NO NO TOUCH!!!" "It says to enter my PIN." "No touch! If it says touch it broken, okay. Try again." I stood there frozen. "Try again." "Can I touch it?" She laughed. I handed her six dollars in cash. "Oh, okay, cash, thank you." Problem solved. I don't think she meant to yell like that, but damn. This was the best hot dog bun I've ever had in my life. The Korean BBQ sauce really gave it an extra kick. Even though I didn't buy anything else, I noticed that this store was super clean. The shelves were faced really well. The recovery looked great even though it was mid day and they were super busy. I would come back here for lunch again for sure. read more

Not the largest Hmart store. Has a variety of Asian items, grocery and packaged goods. I don't usually shop at this location. I came along with my daughter and I purchased a case of microwaveable rice for when I can't wait 15mins to cook a pot of rice. LOL! This item takes 2 minutes and is convenient. I usually go to the bakery for the fruit cakes. Went in there on Monday, memorial Day bought a cake. It smelled like alcohol/ nail polish once I open the box when I got home. The fruit was going bad, especially the pineapple, peaches and strawberry in the middle of the cake was discolored slimy and the smell is really strong. Today is Tuesday so they can't say I had it for a few days. A waste of $50. I will be going to Yummy House Bakery in Seattle for now on. read more

A first visit to this H Mart location in Tacoma today (9/30/24). Since we had to shop at Shin Shin, walked across to this Korean store to buy some groceries. We usually shop at the Federal Way location, but wanted to check this store out since we were already in Lakewood/Tacoma. The store's entrance/exit is not visible nor are there signs for them. Anyway, they have a limited number of carts right outside on the sidewalk. Once you walk in, you'll the Produce section. Then you'll get to the frozen foods, the refrigerated food items, Korean Snack aisles, Instant Ramen Noodles, coffee and tea, bread/buns, the Fish and seafood area, drinks, including Alcohol, then the Korean sidedishes and pre-packaged foods. The Bakery is near the Exit. We bought some Kimbap ($5.99 ea), dried noodles, Korean buns, chips, crackers, and Sweet Potato. It was pretty packed for a Monday afternoon. The fruit and veggie selection was reasonable (a little disappointing for late June, but not bad). Of the dry goods and canned food I thought that 50-70% were Korean (my typical H Mart is 30-40% Korean and otherwise has lots of Japanese, Chinese, and food from other areas). read more

Mom loves this place over Pal Do down the street just because the produce area is beautiful. I like visiting because they have bulk ramen in all the flavors and this is the type of place where you can get the weird Lays potato chip flavors, like green matcha, duck egg, or bulgogi. Service is okay, but you don't come here for the service- you come here for Asian food presented cleanly and in an organized, non-depressing way. Bonus points for the area around here. You can get mochi donuts, boba, massages, Japanese food and there's a Shin shin which is like a big Daiso, so it's fun. The only drawback is the parking. We come here on weekdays and sometimes it can be hard to find a space. Can't imagine what parking is like on the weekends. read more

We stopped by here while waiting for our order next door at BBQ Chicken. I love H Mart and the selection of snacks, noodles, soups, etc. Obviously, much of this stuff isn't available at a Walmart, Winco, or Costco. So again, just grateful to have the option/opportunity to buy some of our favorite foods-- in this case, miso soup and some vinegar cracklings. The produce selection was my favorite, great deals and good finds for sure. Got all our groceries and then some in addition with a sweet treat from the bakery on the way out. This is a tiny H-Mart for a suburban location. Very disorganized-nothing makes sense in this store. Something that everyone should be aware that their refrigeration and freezing protocols are not what they should be for a grocery store- I was looking at the "frozen" eggrolls when in the freezer they should be rock hard and solid. I was in the open freezer area and I pulled 3 packages from different freezer locations (from the bottom of the freezer) and all the items inside were mushy like they were just being refrigerated. Items in the refrigerated areas that were supposed to feel like they came out of your home refrigeration were warm- like literally room temp or warmer. Items that should be in a refrigerated case were out in the middle of the aisles (I think perhaps they hoped that the refrigerated areas would help cool or chill these items-but that can only work if the refrigerated and frozen areas were working). I turned around and did not buy a thing- This Hmart is just looking to make people sick. read more

A smaller version of the one that resides in Federal Way, I was so happy when this was built way back when I lived in Tacoma. It gets crowded on weekends and holidays but nothing like the madness of the big one. It's got what you need, the downsizing didn't hurt much of the selection, including fresh seafood and a great bakery. Tellers are friendlier than the big one too, and if you want more Stuff as opposed to groceries, Shin Shin is right next door along with a gazillion other places to shop and eat. The produce section will forever impress me, and the whole place is clean, including the bathrooms. Makes for a great afternoon when you want to pick up a few things for decent prices you can't get at Safeway. read more

When I moved to the PNW I couldn't wait to come here. And I was judged by every single person that was there when I walked in. It's horribly run down and in a seedy area of town. They did have what I needed which was decent produce and meat that was priced well. However the selection for other things was very limited. However, that being said it was not horrific. Hmart is primarily an Asian/Korean market.. great place for produce, snacks & drinks. There is a cooked food area, choices to make your day easier & tasty as well. I love coming here because it's closer to my home and they have the best prepared food in the back but today made me so disappointed in the management and owner. I'm sad to even leave this review honestly, I haven't written a review in years but because I care about my community I have to write this. This even literally happened 15 mins ago. Even the cashiers seem to be upset over this problem at HMart smh. The homeless ppl who stand in the front are getting out of hand. They know that this spot is a "hit" for them and because no one is saying anything, making them leave, they keep coming back. Today several people witness this homeless man swiping his hand against the handles of the shopping cart. The cops were called because of the concern of this problem as well FYI. Me being in the healthcare field know that most homeless ppl have MRSA, chronic hep c, body lice, and HIV. This is a huge concern as the innocent customers don't know this and are touching the carts. if someone were to have an open wound on their finger, even a small paper cut per se they would contract this disease. The homeless guy even cause a disruption and argument outside with a customer when he was asked to not touch the carts for the safety of the customers. I told the cashier I was uncomfortable by all this and asked why isn't no one doing anything and she said "I don't know" smh. She asked does paldo world have this problem, I told her no. She asked if they had security I said yes. Paldo world has a security guard that stands outside, at least they care. I highly suggest for your health and safety (because homeless drug addicts can be dangerous, maybe even kill you) to go to paldo world. Do better HMART for your community, and it's such a bad look for your business. It's literally an eye sore. read more

I'm kind of surprised I haven't written a review for H Mart yet but it is time to post one. There are quite a few Asian grocery stores in Tacoma and while I always find it exciting to go into any ethnic supermarket communication is often a problem to convey what you are looking for in some of these places so a lot of time you are in your own finding something due to language barriers. H Mart seems different however. H Mart is clean, well organized and more effective communication has been conducted here when in need of assistance. The spices and exotic fruits makes H Mart a destination in of itself right there as many grocery stores just doesn't seem to have what H Mart has and if they do it's just easier to find. That's not to say with some of the grocery options you aren't too sure would be best suited for a quick lunch or a recipe you cook at home but sometimes it's just trial and error. I also really like the deli as there are some very fine snacks there like Korean Pancakes for example. I also really like their chips section, the mochi ice cream selection and the candy section... especially their variety of Pocky and Pretz, a more savory variety of Pocky. There is also a dumpling restaurant and a bakery by the check stands. Both are very good and deserving of getting tried out. H Mart is a pretty popular place and the cashiers get people out relatively quickly which is great. The parking lot is pretty congested due to the high amount of customers coming and going so be careful there and perhaps park farther out from the store to avoid hassle when leaving. read more

What is going on with this Hmart?! I used to feel so lucky there was an Hmart in the neighborhood but this location has seriously been dropping the ball lately. Literally nothing on the shelves are priced - how are you supposed to go grocery shopping when you have to just cross your fingers and hope that the item is within the range you were hoping to pay? From drinks, to snacks, to other dry goods - I went the other day and had to flag down two workers in which they asked me to take it to the cashiers and ask them to run a price check. Not acceptable - I don't want to buy groceries from this location if they can't run the store with dignity. We are not psychics. read more

This review is based only on their hot food/deli in the back. It's a 3 cause those the food was edible the fish we got wasn't even cleaned. They de-scaled it and then cooked it. No gut cleaning like any other place would do. Just allllll there. This wouldn't be an issue if that is what you wanted but we ended up taking a bite right out of the guts cause we assumed it was a cleaned whole fish. Also got some steam buns and wow those were bland. There was more spice than meat in the flavor profile. It was fine being hungry and we couldn't really eat the fish but not good. Prefer this location 100x's more than Federal Way. Organized, stocked and clean. Nothing I noticed is freezer burnt like every frozen item at the federal way location.. Minus stars cause the parking lot is tight, and leaving is tough cause traffic on the main street -- the line to check out is always confusing, lots of (older) people cutting lol because there is no regulation or anything marked clearly. Wide selection of meat and seafood. We always opt for Korean BBQ at home so we pick up trays of Kalbi, marinated spicy pork and thinly sliced ribeyes. Very reasonably priced. People told me about H-Mart when I moved to Washington but I thought it's probably all hype and kept to shopping at Uwajimaya. Holy cow this place is bomb. I've never in my life seen so much variety of all kinds of Asian food. Thai, Chinese, a small Japanese section. I spent almost 45 min just taking pics to share with folks and being amazed at all the foods I didn't think I could get here. The prices were really really good. I mean Uwajimaya was a rip off all these years. I took hubby there and he was blown away. I mean, have you ever seen a live King crab? There was an aisle of just soy sauce and similar sauces. I'm going to take my in-laws next. I don't care if I'm nerding out. I haven't eaten some of these foods for years. I'm in heaven. Go check it out. It's really fun. Enjoy my pics :) read more

Usually go to other locations, but I was hanging out with my sister, and this location is closest to her. We came here to browse for snacks. It was hard to tell what some of the prices were for the snacks. Either they didn't have prices listed under the items on the shelves, or the description on the price tags didn't match the items sitting above them. I grabbed a few snacks to try, and when I went to ring them up, one of the items didn't ring up a price. The cashier called over another staff member and she kept trying to ring it up, and still no price. So, the cashier just manually entered the price, and I didn't even think of paying attention because I assumed it would be similar to the price of all their similar snacks. When I walked away and looked at the receipt, I was upset to see that she entered $6.99 for my mini pineapple cakes. I didn't feel like going back to make a big deal or if they would understand my complaint; I was jusr ready to get out of there and go back home. That item was sitting above a price that said $3.49 and the description seemed to match or was close enough to the item I bought. All the other snacks there in that section were around the same price, and the same kind of mini pineapple cakes I bought but in a different brand was $4.49. That was probably the most expensive snack in that section; there is no way the thing I bought would have been close to $6.99. read more

Hi, I would like to share an outstanding customer experience that I had on my most recent visit. An older woman who helped me pick out kimchee! With a bit of teamwork on holding some kimchee as she was fishing one on the back shelf. She gave me the one she thought looked good and gave me the biggest smile. Sure enough, she was not wrong, as I am now about to finish it. Hopefully, when I return, she will help me with a bigger bucket, but overall, it was a great experience and reminded me that one of my aunties will definitely return. read more

Hmart seems to keep getting better and better. I love their fresh food area for banchan (Korean side dishes) and their variety of freshly made Korean sweets. The produce tends to be pretty good, and has a great variety, and a lot of specialty items you won't find at other stores. read more

We get groceries here often but barely buy meat. Bought meat today two packs of this and one was fresh with the same date and one looked more than a month old. They hid the brown part of the meat underneath. Very disgusting.i took a video of the whole meat. The top was pretty nice. When i opened it the brown spot on the front was covered by the price sticker. Then it smelled rotten. I flipped it and there you go. Almost all of it was brown. read more

I got no complaints other than maybe on those rare occasions when a ajumma holds up the line because she is being charged 10 cents more on her grocery bill and than holds up everyone in line as an associate has to do a price check lol. read more
