We ordered the dinuguan, chicken BBQ skewers, and sinigang, and every dish was absolutely delicious--so comforting and full of flavor. The sinigang had the perfect balance of sour and savory, and the BBQ skewers were cooked just right. We couldn't leave without dessert and ordered the turon--oh my, it was AMAZING. Crispy, sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. The service was incredible--truly can't beat Filipino hospitality. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. My boyfriend tried Paraiso a month ago and hasn't stopped singing praises for how much food you get and how delicious everything is. As a Filipino who has family that makes restaurant quality food, he is picky with his food but he said the flavors here are pretty close to how his family cooks it. I am always on the hunt for good kare kare and I saw they serve it so I was already super excited to go. We arrived around 1ish pm and we were able to find parking and enter inside where we saw three tables occupied with happy customers enjoying their meals. They have small tables and large tables, but definitely plan ahead as most of these tables seat 2-4 people. They have a section at the left end of the order area where you drop off dirty dishes in bins as well as a condiments section. They were playing some American pop songs that were remixed but it fit the vibe of the place. Additionally, they do have a grocery side which I definitely want to check out next time I'm there. We were greeted warmly by the owner who was cheerful and patient with us. My boyfriend got their longganisa and lumpia and he was asked if he wanted adobo sauce on his rice which I thought was neat! Now, here is where my complaints from as I was not offered the same treatment on my rice, told that they aren't serving kare kare, they don't have labels for the food at front, and some of the food was cold. I got the pork sinigang and dinakdakan which was pretty good and flavorful. They do have pastries, desserts and other offerings as well. It seemed like there are many regulars who come often as the owner would recognize and have friendly conversations with them. Portions are good for someone who doesn't eat a whole lot. Service is as expected. Line up and place order. Filipino breakfast is made to order rather than pointing at your 1 or 2 choices. Wait time was about 10-15 min. It was another busy Sunday morning. For 3 orders of breakfast it came up to about $78!! A pricey breakfast!!! my mom ordered this for me while we took the bus from SeaTac airport to back home, and had a stop at the Lakewood Transit Center. food was...okay. Maybe because the nostalgia is not there like when I have my cute momzy's cooking, I do not have a higher rating for the food, but it was okay. Definitely filling. Mom was jonesing for crispy pata so we drove up from Olympia to get some here. She was a little worried as she stood in line and saw that it looked a little undercooked. I told her it would be okay because they would finish frying it after she ordered it so it would be super fresh, which they did. Mom had a blast eating the pig knuckles and the crispy skin. Sis got the adobo pork on rice and it was almost as good as Mom made. There were a lot of people there on a Saturday morning, but not so many that we didn't all have somewhere to sit. - Decided to go here because we heard some great recommendations on this place. Sadly, it was a miss for us. The food tasted good but the food was SO cold. Usually it doesn't bother us that it's somewhat cold but the Bicol express was REALLY cold. They just brought it to the front so I expected it to be warm but it wasn't. Like they could've let us know that it wasn't the full menu and to wait for 5 more minutes, so we could get other choices. I had an intense craving for diniguan aka chocolate meat (at least that is what I tell my toddler). So I sought out a Filipino joint that can serve my needs. It's a neat place that serves classic Filipino food cafeteria style. They have drinks and desserts everything you can almost think of bc there is a store connected to it. The service was great, the lady behind the counter was jolly and let us try things we were curious about and explained to us what things were. The food was bomb and fulfilled my cravings. The diniguan (sp) was rich in flavor and had a lil kick of spicy and vinegar. It was just gravy goodness like give it to me in a cup! Sig sig was good I'm just used to it having a bit of spice and the ground beef thing I think it's called picadillo but it's your standard meat and potatoes hearty meal. Not pictured was lumpia and my eating partners meal that consisted of kare kare and adobo and they did it was good. Why 4 stars if everything was good you ask? It's not the kind of place I would call ahead and order from because you need to look at all of the various dishes in the hot case and choose which ones you like. The atmosphere was convivial with several groups of old schoolers and young families alike. That's a insane for one person yes they do give you a good amount but it's texture isn't that great the chicken adobo was dry and was not juicy . This place hits the spot when we are craving Filipino food. You won't find fusion-hipster Filipino food here. Not to say they are bad but this girl needs to eat "childhood" food. What you will find here is traditional Filipino food. What I love about this place, besides it being traditional, is that they don't water down their food as I've noticed with other Filipino establishments in this area. Customer service is always on point too. Although there are no signs to determine what dishes are what, the person up front is always willing to explain what it is what and will offer you samples to try. Paraiso is a cafeteria style establishment although you can have certain foods made upon ordering - would this still be considered cafeteria style? Typical premade dishes include longanisa, kare kare (don't forget to ask for bagoong), and sinigang. We've order lechon there a few times too and halo halo but this cold dessert might only be offered during the hotter season. They also have other Filipino dessert options. The food is a little pricey but the price range seems to be across the board anywhere we go to, whether it is Hawaii or Washington. This is the first restaurant Filipino food I've ever had. And I'm obsessed with the soups, and diced up little pork goodness. I'm still familiarizing myself with these delicious dishes- but, my husband and I have eaten there twice in the last month. He loves the chicken lumpia saying it's taken lumpia to the next level. The "cafeteria style" is really special- it's different and allows you to really see the fresh foods that they create in their kitchen. Not sure if the staff member working the counter was the owner but she was so welcoming and made great conversation with us. Even though it was our first time there, talking to her almost felt like I was back home (treating us like we were family). Food was delicious and reminded me of my parents' cooking! She offered us a sample of the grilled pork sisig and we loved it so ended up adding it to our already large order of food (it was just for the two of us). There aren't any Filipino ma-and-pop joints like this in our area but we'll definitely be going back. Their attached store and cute sari-sari is full of imported Filipino goodies. The only problem was that you can't really see it because it looks like they're running out of storage space for all of the goods and boxes they have out. It's easy to overlook because it doesn't look like much from the outside but it's actually very cute and clean inside. the woman behind the counter was very kind and even let us sample several of their most popular dishes before we ordered. after trying them it made if even harder to choose because everything tasted SO good! very glad we stopped to try and take a chance, we definitely will be back. read more
