I love Saar's. This is only the second time I have shopped there, but the meat specifically is vastly cheaper then elsewhere. Also their fresh baked bread is too die for. I have always loved this store! But I'm so disappointed with them. I was assaulted (puched In the face and knocked down) right outside the front door, right near security, and the checkouts. 5 people were standing around me and no one came to help me. All I got were stares. I'm shopping somewhere where security helps people. It's a shame to lose a great store due to violence and no help from staff. Love how this store is just a two-mile drive from where I live! I've never had a bad experience (so far) at this branch. I always seem to find what I need and the cashiers are always polite. The deals that you'll get from here, like 78 cents for large lemons, really great quality cabbages, and delicious plantains are only a few of the many good things about this place. They really try their best to accommodate everyone's culture because I can see items and delicacies from different countries. We sometimes get our kimchi here if we don't want to drive to an HMart or Korean store. The vegetables that we often use in our dishes can be found here almost all the time. Today, I got 5 pieces of pompano for $24, which is always expensive at a Filipino seafood supermarket or other Asian supermarkets. What a steal. read more

Going to grocery stores that I'm not familiar with can always be a bit overstimulating for me. Especially discount grocery stores where the customer volume is significantly increased. However in the case of Saar's it wasn't nearly as overwhelming as some places. I managed to find the grocery items I was looking for in a relatively efficient way despite this being my first time here and getting out of the store can always be a hurdle with lines that feel like they are infinite. While the lines were kind of long the cashiers were efficient and got the customers in and out pretty well despite the customer volume this store experiences. I like their pastry items and I'm totally addicted to their little individually wrapped chocolate cakes (They look like brownies). read more

This review is not for the grocery store; 5 stars WELL deserved by the pharmacy team and pharmacists who always go out of their way to help us. We transferred to this pharmacy after a horrible experience using Walgreens as our pharmacy for two years. The staff helped go above and beyond to get all of my wife and my prescriptions transferred over with very little headache nor any issues. On one occasion, the pharmacist really showed his empathy and care for his patients when I needed a miracle to get my wife's important meds: I work in Bellevue M-F 9-6PM. The pharmacy is open 9-7PM and closes early on Sat/closed Sun. Because I had missed the opportunity to pickup the Sat previous, that next week on Monday, I called the pharmacist and asked what options we had if I could not make it in to pick up my wife's meds before they closed that night. He asked what time I would be arriving home from work and I replied "7:15, according to Waze & traffic." He told me "this one occasion, I'd be happy to wait up for ya so long as you get here by 7:15. At 7:16, I'm leaving." I race home as quickly as I can and manage to arrive at about 10 after 7. People who go out of their way to help others so routinely are 100% the reason why we instantly knew this pharmacy treated its patients with dignity, respect and always strive to help when it counts! Walgreens (also on Pacific Ave) has so many patients and little patience for anyone. They're rude and whenever I had questions or concerns, they were 99% of the time either not giving me their full attention or rushing me through checkout quickly. You won't find any of that at Parkland Marketplace Pharmacy, though! Just friendly staff who are knowledgeable and supportive of our needs. HIGHLY recommend, if you're looking for a new pharmacy, come here and you'll be pleasantly surprised! read more

Went for the first time a few days ago. The store is laid out by cuisine type--I think I found an Asian section, Mexican section and American foods section. They also have lots of varied produce. So if you are looking for something like cookies, just make sure you go to the correct area for the food you want. I went to specifically find the makings of a Thai curry. The only ingredient that I did NOT find that I normally look for when cooking Thai are kaffir lime leaves. I did find Thai Basil and various curry pastes though. I also did not see dried boba pearls (the kind sold separately from drink mixes). A note on the produce--it looks like they might buy second run items to cut costs--so some veggie packs had a spoiled item in them. Just something to keep in mind. The one star is for the horrible customer service we received this past sat night. One of your female cashier was not doing her job by talking to her boyfriend your security guard and taking pictures instead of doing her job as we waited in line. She then serviced another customer in front of us. Then she couldn't find the code for what we were trying to purchase ...then said we canceled our card payment then she printed out the receipt ? I'd put 0 if I could, the kitchen deli was infested w flies, and they still served me sesame chicken even after swatting flies out of my plate. I decided to go to produce, and see a heavy guy (a worker who was definitely over 18) stroking eggplants for these young girls (the 4 of them were conversating), and pretty much slacking off, etc. He was also sneezing all over the kale, lettuce, you name it. I could only see a "T", and, "L" in his name tag. Not quite sure of the full name, but he had dark curly hair, brown skin, and was on the bigger side. read more

They post fliers up of sales across the store and several times I've visited and they would not honor them for whatever reason. The last excuse they gave was "oh we're not doing that sale anymore". This Saar's Market Place surpassed my expectation in comparison to others that have closed in Washington. They have a huge variety with good organization and friendly staff. Great Meat selection with excellent prices on steak and bulk packages. I always price compare no matter where I'm grocery shopping, however at Saar's, I see some prices are higher, some significantly lower. Always check their paper flyer for great coupon deals. Recently they were offering Tillamook 2lb blocks of cheese at $5.99 when all other stores (including Walmart) were selling for $9- $12. The best part -- they are always well stocked, neat and have reasonably quick checkout time. read more

The place is very decent and large. A lot of selection on Asian and foreign products compared to other grocery stores around the area. The price is reasonable, kind of like Winco, but with better selections. The meat didn't really look so fresh. The produce area was however very fresh and cheap. Water refills are $.39 cents a gallon. They have Hawaiian Redondo sausage brand (FYI if you from Hawaii). The market is very clean and well organized, it made my shopping more enjoyable. The only down side was the check out time, the cashier just up left us with all of our stuff on the band, another cashier took over and she was doing 2 registers at once. I think the cashier that left might have gone to break, but she didn't even say Hi or bye. Other than that definitely coming back for food. read more

Asian foods, Asian deli...their in house fried chicken is awesome good... go hungry.. Service there, however can be ... curt. Meat dept, if u can stock up on 10 pound min. Packages...very good and competitive. This place is busy..easy to see why..go early. In terms of great prices, most selections and being well stocked, this is one of my top go to grocery stores. I love their asian food selections as well. Things that could definitley improve are the fact that there is usually always one cashier operating two lanes. When my items are bagged a cashier abruptly goes to the other lane and starts ringing the other customers up, it seems like a race and I dont really feel acknowledged. Also theres not vegetarian food brands. If this was added it could be a good plus to many veggies out there. read more

Expiration dates on meat and no date on ham and other meats or covering the dates up are not safe. How long past the best buy this date is good is the Question. 3 days 1 week 2 weeks. Food poison for 24 to 48 hours not so great!!! Is it sarr supermarket have no care behind quality or Obligation to there customers. Where is this company located is it based in the United States ? This may be a problem they don't know our standards. I can't find who the owners are and why is it so top-secret. The standards in these stores are dollar store quality in my Opinion. Please make your own choices but when you need to put Cameras up so people can't take pictures of expired food that seems kinda sad. I have a love-hate relationship with Saars, I think. I love the days where I can find bottles of kombucha on sale for 50 cents apiece, even if it's a brand I don't love. I like that I can find a lot of items here that are cheaper than most other grocery stores, like Bob's Red Mill products or spices. Occasionally, I can find some decent-looking produce after careful inspection. Their wine selection is decent as well, as is their selection of Asian grocery items. The things I hate about Saars: - Its exceedingly sketchy clientele who cannot seem to grasp the concept of returning carts. - They carry literally NO frozen vegetarian items. - ONE cashier consistently operates the two lanes to the far left as you face the exit. Why is this a thing? It doesn't make the checkout process at all more efficient and seems like it is a completely all-around annoyance. - The restrooms down that scary-ass hallway in the far back corner of the store. I'm terrified of being attacked every time I have to pee. - The constant state of horror the restroom is in every time I have to pee. I should know better. This is not an all-inclusive list, however. I am certain there are other things I am not recalling at the moment. Bottom line is that this is mostly an ok place to shop if you time it right to avoid the riff-raff and stick to the shelf-stable items. read more

Has anyone, who has shopped at Saar's Market Place in Parkland been ripped off? I was just ripped off. they charged me 8 dollars for something I never had in my grocery basket. Watch your grocery receipts where ever you shop at. It's bad enough that many items in Saar's is over priced compared to that of Winco or Walmart, but they do have better prices for vegetables and Asian foods. For me it wouldn't be cost effective to drive all the way out there fighting with traffic to get 8 dollars back. Saar's has a good selection of items. However, they do not enforce any covid-19 precautions whatsoever. I've seen many customers without masks, and even some employees without them as well. This disregard for public health can't be ignored and I don't think I will be back. read more

Before this store was re-modeled, I remembered that one day the butchers area looked like a scene from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It stunk like rotten meat and there was blood flowing into a drain outside of the butchers area with animal carcesses scattered all over. Its since been improved but I just can't get that image and smell out of my mind everytime I go in there. The other day, I got a pack of Tilapia and a live worm poked its head out of the fillet. I don't think it ate too much because the fish had a rancid smell when I opened the package. I didn't want to eat it, either. Probably some of the best deals on many items. I can no longer afford Safeway and Albertsons. This is a great alternative. I have shopped here for years. They have great bargains on meats of all kind. Chicken, beef, sliced meats. Also large large variety of vegetables with very very reasonable prices. And they have a tremendous variety of Asian and Latin foods. I also find the staff and management very friendly and accommodating. I will continue shopping here. Always a pleasure. And for the reviewers slamming the place, I have never seen drug deals. There are meth heads literally everywhere. There should be a PCC or whole foods waiting to just dig your pockets. You can shop there for a better shopping experience. I enjoy Saar's because of their bulk meat deals. This review is meant for the cashier who rang us up. I don't remember his name, but he was the manager/supervisor. I get that the store gets crazy busy, but if you have a management position; I'd expect nothing but the best from you. I strongly believe a great boss is someone who humbles himself, doesn't show attitude in front of customers and is a team player. He was zooming through his register, scanning our items and literally TOSSING them to the side for the other worker to bag them. No smile, or anything. At that time, the phone was ringing and a female worker had asked if he was gonna take it or if there was anything she could help with. His response was snappy, "I'm not gonna answer it, I'm busy here" and carried on with ringing me up. Um, first off, she offered to help you. Pork Cracklins, Chinese food for $1.00, Meat for every type of tastebud, fresh produce and plenty to choose from in the bakery! Although this is an older market, the staff here are kind and prompt every time! One of the few places I can get all the ingredients for my favorite recipes-- and all the interesting ones I run into on the internet-- without paying through the nose. As a couple of other people have pointed out, you do need to actually pick over the produce sometimes, but it's usually half the price of other stores and only takes slightly more effort-- and when they get a really good shipment in, the price is still half of everywhere else. We just filled our chest freezer with their "ten pound meat sale" for a hundred dollars, and while they do have some items that are more expensive than other places, they also have a lot of really great deals. You just need to shop carefully instead of on impulse-- perfect if you can afford to spend a few extra minutes more than you can afford to spend money. read more

This is definitely a hole in the wall grocery store, it is a local chain, but it does not have much going for it. They do have a decent sized ethnic/mexican section, but their fresh fruits/meats are not very good. Also the store is usually pretty dirty..and they have expired foods still sitting on the shelf.
