On July 6, I went to Winco and purchased a bit of food, but what strikes me as odd when I was weighing out this chicken bought in a bulk package of chicken breast. I put all the chicken breast in the bags to be stored and when weighing, I realized that it did not add up. There was supposed to be 4.06lbs of chicken but instead, there was only 3lb 7.5oz of chicken mind you that includes the tag and two plastic bags in the weight! The actual packaging that was left over weighted almost 14 oz! A little over half a pound of chicken is missing! read more

Whoever in the back is shorting hard working Americans. Grocery prices are already high and to sell me something that I'm paying 10 pounds for and then not receiving it is unacceptable. I'm already paying $70 for 10 pounds and to short me 10oz. That definitely adds up for everyone they short. OK, who doesn't love a Winco they have a lot of variety of food a lot of different ethnic options. The customer service is really good in the deli and in the bakery even the cash registers. This store is located in a very busy shopping center. I used to come shop here but it is a bit far from where I live now. It gets a bit crowded here and it was just too overwhelming. It is okay if I come for for annual eye visits at America's best. It is a good place to get something to drink or a bite to eat from deli. This one is good to get very few items and use the self checkout. I do not deal with the long lines here. And it gets super crowded there like you are waiting for an amusement park ride. If I need to buy more items I use the other location. It is not a bad store . It does help customers save a bit more money. And around here there are different restaurants to compete with too. And there is Wapato Park nearby. It is good to go grab some lunch before heading to park. And if you have a bag with zipper and insulation, then grab a few favorite beverages, and favorite snacks. So this store has not totally lost me. If I am around and need a small amount of things then I will go in. The restrooms are very clean too. So it is good to let the family stretch their legs and take a restroom break before getting fuel for our bodies. I appreciate having this option when I am in the area. read more

The food fresh produce was gross we left the store - and went somewhere else. Really no customer service was offered. This store is ghetto and has zero ambiance it seemed very messy, Food not organized, not shelved well and over all poor quality. We went for one thing and were very disappointed- will never go back. Seems like it's low end merchandise, can't speak on the prices we didn't stick around long enough to see but I would think if the way it was laid out it shouldn't be charging to much. I purchased the Winco brand of soy sauce. Mind you I had never tried this brand and I never experienced any medical complications with name brand. On the 15th of September I ingested some of the soy sauce and immediately my tongue and lower part of my jaw began to severely swell. I had gone into anaphylaxis shock. It became extremely hard to breath and I don't remember much after being put into the ambulance. I was sedated, put on a ventilator and remained in ICU for three days later being told at one point I actually died. This was the worst thing I have ever experienced and I'm grateful the doctors were able to save me. From now on no more soy sauce and even if I have to pay more for brand name items it's an added expense I'm willing to pay. read more

I walked here at night to take a break. I wanted a break from my studies and hate the fact that this is the only "store" in this area. It looked like a broke Costco/Smart and Final Combo. But those places don't look so crappy as this one did. I wanted to find two things, water and a bottle of wine. I found the water and gave up on the wine because I knew it would be another hour before I got back to my hotel. So, why didn't I buy the water? Well, the lines were sooo long. Too long and didn't seem to be moving. They had a self-checkout but people had so much stuff. Costco has this game down and when in line you see progress. After 10 minutes of standing around, I said F-it. The self-checkout line wasn't any better so I did all that walking, in the cold, to leave the store without my bounty. Never again! read more

Spacious, clean, and goods are sorted well. This will be one of my go-to grocery shop if I'm living in Tacoma. They got selections of organic as well and a pretty good selection of meat. This shop reminds me of an upgraded Times Supermarket. I was also happy to see some Hawaiian goodies here like the king sweet bread and some taro chips. Their produce selection is good too. Customer service aren't the friendliest though. This is a pretty big indoor market and I would surely love to shop in here again. I needed to turn two bottle of Winco brand coffee creamer yesterday. I had bought them on Sunday, making sure the foil seals were intact (I've grabbed some creamer before that someone had opened up and I didn't check the foil seal under the plastic cap) The one I opened for Monday morning coffee and it was spoiled. Lumpy and smelled bad. I took both back to Winco. First thing.. I asked the clerk near the entrance where to return. I was told in an 'annoyed' manner that it would be customer service but not until 9am. It was 8:30 and I couldn't wait a half hour. I went and found a lead clerk (said so, right on her badge) I asked about the return and got the same grumpy reply, wait until 9 am at customer service. I then asked to see a manager. Jason, the manager came by very quickly. Friendly nice guy. Told me I didn't have to wait. Took me to a check stand, promptly credited my debit card and was gracious and understanding. He did a great job that only took about 30 seconds. Not sure why the grumpy/surly clerks couldn't have done that. I like Winco. Great produce! A much larger selection of different produce, well priced and fresher and better quality than any store in town. I live near Met Market and would buy Winco produce any day rather than their overpriced and often less than fresh produce. read more

Looks like you're shopping in a grocery store from the 70's, and I get maybe that's what they are intentionally going for. The one on 72nd st in Tacoma is out of control though, wayyy too busy, doesn't matter what day or what time of day, good for the store, bad for employees and shoppers. Yes they have good deals, but not good enough to justify the entire city crammed in there 24/7. WinCo is the budget grocery paradise! Don't come here looking for artisanal cheese or bougie bread-this is where you get the staples for your kitchen at a discount. So be sure your expectations are set appropriately. There is a warehouse feel to the store, with bright lights and focus on prices. By the amount of people here on any given day and time, I'd say enough folks are budget conscious that WinCo will always be popular. The parking lot is pretty dirty-it doesn't appear that people use trash cans (perhaps because the one by the front door was overflowing). A little TLC outside could make the store more attractive. But that may not be necessary, since there were long lines to checkout on every available register. I left with the items I needed, which is really all I was after. read more

I love this Winco, for many reasons, and have used it since it opened. the Bulk Food section is the largest in the area (to my knowledge) and has a great selection of goodies (human and pet), wrapped and unwrapped, with good treats, meal-type ingredients, items are fresh which is in part because this department is used so much. But this week they surprised me when I was having physical issues (I am 30 years disabled), I try to bring a friend, but this time I couldn't, it was late (10 PM). I was having trouble, and not only did customers assist me, but the checker did as well. And when they saw the difficulty I was having, they helped me to my car, and even loaded the bags into it. I didn't realize that I left a 12 pack of monsters on the bottom rack of a cart until I got home. I drove right back to the parking lot and located the cart rack I used but it wasn't there. I felt ridiculous asking the attendant if he found the monsters but he was super nice and said that he found them! He directed me to customer service and I picked them up without any trouble. Woohoo! I have been a winco shopper for a long time. I always told people to go there that moved to Tacoma or lived around a winco. I am now unfortunately going to say that I have fully moved over to a trader joes customer. Its not that winco is bad, but Trader Joes is so much better for me personally. First I should say that Winco has stayed open, stocked up, and ready to serve during the entire covid which is always commendable. Without them many people would be in a bad situation, both staff and customer. Second, when it comes to price you would be hard pressed to find better. They are just cheaper across the board. Meat, produce, cereal, cleaning supplies etc. Additionally they have a killer bulk section with some great snacks worth grabbing. Third, the store is huge and you should be able find what you are looking for. It is truly a one stop shop. With all those positive I do have a few negatives. Unfortunately it wasnt until I got to a different store that I noticed some of these issues, but they still need to be state. First, the lighting is just general warehouse lighting and is pretty bleak. Its not as bad as every big lots that always has a light flickering, but its just florescent hell. You leave during a sunny day and you realize how bad it is. Along with that while I think overall the staff does a decent job, I do feel like there personalities and demeanor could be better. I dont mean that as a dig, but I think more that Winco is probably a place that isnt terrible to work at, but also isnt great so you get a bit of that beat up by the world demeanor going. This could very easily be because of the customers, but I dont know. Still they are faster than every safeway ever, but not as good as most other stores Second the customers are kind of the worst. If you are curious where to find people who dont where masks or dont where them properly just go to winco. You will typically see many customers fighting the man and the power by keeping their mask just under their nose. Third quality of produce. Overall I have had great experience with most of their food. I mean I am still planning on buying a couple pork shoulders there in a couple weeks, but when it comes to their fruit and veggies its a complete crap shoot. I have purchased stuff that lasts for weeks and i have purchased stuff that lasts a couple of days. Its just a roll of the dice. You end up paying less than anywhere but its a gamble. Overall its a decent store. i dont have any real qualms with it, I just prefer going to trader joes more now. I would 100% suggest winco to people still and I dont think its a bad store, just during the covid I want to go to places that make me happy and Trader Joes does that for now. read more

Another change to Winco Tamales. They started good by switching to a different brand that does not freeze the Tamales which keeps the dough soft and nice, they had decent seasoning with capers and garlic, now lately, they switched to only use chili powder, completely degraded. read more

Winco is a great place, this is a smaller version then what I usually see. There no food court pizza in this location. Located in the end of the Tacoma plaza in 72nd street. Staff is friendly and helpful. The spice area sometimes don't have clean spoons available to scoop otherwise everything is stocked. read more

Okay....so where do I start? I mean. It's Winco for crying out loud. Has been part of Western Washington for the last 20 solid years. WinCo the "Winning Company". But let's be honest, we hate WinCo lol those damn lines are no joke. Seriously. No but this Winco. Smh. The lines at this WinCo are some of the worst. I wait and refuse to go between the 1-5th and the 15-20th. I also try to go late at night such as 1am, or really early in the morning around 5-6 am. They have so many registers but will have about 5 open at a time, even during rush times. Now one thing is their produce. WinCo is known for not having the best produce. But this Winco has OKAY produce. Not the best but not the worst. They have a good variety of food including vegan (yay!). Other than their whack parking lot and check-outs this is an a-ok Winco. read more

Do not go here between the 1st of the month and the 7th. this place is usually jammed packed with people eager to use their food stamps and they all go shopping on the same dang day of the month. Doesn't seem like the time has an effect on how busy it is between these dates, I have seen it packed first thing in the AM until 1130pm. You know people who are usuing their food stamps because their carts are usually over flowing with groceries. FILLED TO THE TOP & then some! Then there are those who wanna save a few dollars and have just a couple things in their carts who have to suffer in the ridiculously long lines behind 2-3 people who have a giant cart overflowing.
