I thought my computer stopped working again and since I received such great service here I decided to bring it back to have it looked at. This time Shane helped me with my problem. He immediately hooked up my computer to his internet and monitor to check it out and low and behold the computer was working fine. Shane concluded that it may be a problem with my HDMI cable or my monitor. I asked him how much I owed him and he said nothing since he didn't have to do anything. So I've used laptops ALL my life. Never owned a desktop ever. My gaming laptop was getting old, around 6 years, and I was tired of it taking almost 30 minutes to start up. It dawns on me that, hey, you know what? Maybe I should just invest in a custom built pc. I rush here after work and manage to make it a little before closing. It was so nice of them to stay open past closing to help me customize what I wanted for my PC. I picked a hell of a time to buy a new computer because of how hard it is to get a decent GPU because of crypto miners and stuff, but he hooked me up with a good one, thank god. I paid for half up front, and told them they could take their time building it. My laptop technically still worked fine so I wasn't in any rush. I get a call a couple weeks later saying it was ready. Eeeee! So excited! I pay for the rest and bring it home to my whole new setup. I even bought a new desk! Unfortunately, I'm a bad luck MAGNET. My internet's always been bad, but for some reason, now it was just TERRIBLE. Sometimes it was so bad that using a mobile hotspot was better. But, even with a hotspot my internet still just wasn't working on this new computer. I finally decided my internet needed an upgrade, so I get that done a few days later and... It still sucks. I decide to run some tests and realize, hey, it works fine on my laptop and any other device I test it on, so it has to be the computer, right...? So I give H Power Computing a call and explain my problems and they tell me I can bring it in so they can have a look at it. I lug this giant thing all the way back over to town and suggest that there might be a problem with the wifi adapter, since the wifi was working fine on all my other devices. They test their own wifi and... Of course it works fine for them. But, they still offer to change out the adapter for free. Thank. God. I bring it home and... YAAAY, usable internet!!! I absolutely hate it when guys talk to me, and throw out all these terms that I don't understand and it just makes them seem prick-like because they sound all smart and shiz. I love their customer-centered service, prompt and informative communication, and quick repairs. One thing I dislike is the "leasing" program offered by Acima, which I would give 1 out of 5 stars. Do not confuse with a loan or credit card though; this is a lease where Acima owns your product until you pay it off; like renting to own. They advertise that you can pay in 0% interest installments within 90 days. However, the contract automatically signs you into a 12-month payment plan. This after 90 days, you will have to pay a monthly lease renewal fee (approx $45) AND 50% of your remaining lease payments. You can call their customer service number to change to a 90-day payment plan, IF you can reach them. Acima is a scam. You're better off paying for the total cost upfront. read more

I tried updating my 2015 Macbook Air to the macOS system, Big Sur. In doing so, my computer froze during installation, no matter how many times I tried restarting it. I did not want to take it to the Apple Store because I had a hunch that they would prompt me to buy a new one. I am no computer expert, but from my observations, I had many friends who have the newer Macbooks, and those would only last them 1-2 years. So, I had no plans to purchase a new laptop, especially because this laptop survived me from my freshman year of high school until now, my last semester of college. I hopped onto Yelp and ran into H Power Computing. I gave them a try and drove all the way to their location near the old Sports Authority on Ward. ENVIRONMENT: I was greeted by the friendliest Frenchies! They do not bark; not once did I hear them bark. But, just a heads up if you have any dog allergies. Aside from that, the place was immaculate and had great air-conditioning. They also have a place to sit while waiting for your consultation. I came in 10 minutes after opening, so thankfully, it was empty when I walked in, but it quickly got busy! SERVICE: My diagnostics/consultation was done by Hip. He was very straight to the point and helped me break down what was wrong with my computer. As mentioned beforehand, I don't know anything about computers. But, Hip explained things in an easier light for me without using all the technical jargon; and yes, told me up front about my options. In short, my hard drive needed repairing, and I just got a new one. I truly cannot tell you if the service charge was on the expensive side; but, it was $418 altogether without the rush fee (thank goodness, I had my iPad). Turn around time was 3-14 days, and I got my laptop back on Friday (6 days), which was expected. However, what was reassuring was the messaging system they had established with their customers! You can respond via. text messaging/email, and the techs get back to you in a reasonable time. Great communication. When I picked up my laptop, Hip was there again and took the time to show me that it was working and got a free pen/sticker. In all, my experience was H Power Computing was a great one. I am glad Hip contacted me extending an offer to help with any further issues. It took awhile to finally get back in the store. I was happy to meet with him and could tell this would be a different experience. Right off the bat, I could sense Hip has many years of experience not just in computer repair but in business and how to stay afloat during hard times. We talked about business for awhile. It was a pleasure to do so again. I was hoping to bring in something more akin to the problem I had before but alas, I was not so lucky. This time I had a computer with a stuck battery and 3 hard drives I wanted to get the data from. One was really old and no one has seen one of these drives for a couple decades. That's one challenge. Another drive just cut power soon after you started it up. The other one I had no clue if it even worked. What was important about these drives is they were on computers I used for specific business locations. I needed those data files for what ever reason that could come up. I didn't know how long it would take but felt a week should be more than long enough. However, I got the call 2 days later. I immediately went down to pick them since it wasn't too far away and wanted to go to Chinatown to get a little sumpin-sumpin to eat. I said hello to Hip who was talking to another customer. Roy, who did the actual work, showed me the computer. I powered it up and took a look at the data that was pulled over. Lots of junk but went immediately to the files I was looking for and glad to see they were in tact. I was worried a bit because they did admit it was not a full 100% recovery. Totally understandable. I was surprised data was actually pulled off all 3 drives. I made the payment, talked to Hip a little more and said I would be back with any further issues I may come across. The only thing this shop is good for is a FREE diagnostic check. But please, if you are looking for a quality assembly or repair, DO NOT put your money down on Hip or his company. There is absolutely no guarantee or warranty for your data, parts, or their repair service, and the last thing you want to hear from Hip is that there was a 'short' in your computer and you leave short-changed with your motherboard short-circuited. Unfortunately, this is exactly what Hip told me, but I had already signed his agreement that I understood their company had no warranty coverage or guarantee even though Hip claims to have insurance. I even have this on record. So be very wary if any of his employees attempt to sell you an upgrade after your FREE diagnostic check. Consider this your fair warning! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I came here after the Apple Store told me my 2015 MacBook Pro had a faulty display screen and would have to replace it which would take 7-10 days and cost 475 plus 100 for labor. My wife said that I should go to H Computing instead. Even though you pay 235 for the diagnostic (I paid 100 more) to rush so 335 in this case, they found that I didn't need any new parts or screen, just needed the logic board to be reset. No additional costs and done in 2 days! I'm getting my old 2010 MacBook Pro upgraded there now as well. Look forward to having that run like new. These guys know what they are talking about. This is a late review-but for a good reason. I brought my computer to be repaired in March of 2016. I was encountering startup problems. While the responses I got from the shop were timely, I was informed that my hard drive was bad and that my motherboard was likely bad as well. They couldn't figure out the problem, after having performed a few hours of maintenance. Resigned to the diagnosis I accepted it and paid them for the labor they had performed, which was a steep $235 (considering the computer was still broken)! They offered to replace the broken parts for additional cost but I declined. Just this past week I had a different computer encounter problems. I brought my older (supposedly broken) computer to see if I could splice the two together. Not only was the older "broken" computer savable, but all it required was a fresh Windows install, no additional parts required! As I type this review from the same computer that was "broken", I can't fully fault them, as maybe a junior technician handled my case. But I still don't understand how you could charge that much for a computer that was "still broken" and overlook the actual (and easily fixable) problem? Sad case of negligence/mishandling and I'd be wary of going here. read more
