Not sure what happened, but agree with the other reviews. They were a decent salon but quality of services has deteriorated along with the customer service. You never want to go for a haircut to feel good about yourself and leave feeling like you were treated like you were less than. Marissa cut my hair badly the first time so I returned for a recut. I told her what I wanted done but she proceeded to cut my hair short despite my wincing in the chair and asking her not to cut the side at all. She said that she had to blend. My hair cut is horrible, I must wear clips for 1-2 months until it grows out. I will never return or recommend this salon. I love my hairdresser, but the guy who works at the front desk, Peter, is very disrespectful and unprofessional. He crosses boundaries when speaking with clients, is very rude to my daughter, and has a short temper. So unprofessional and definitely not a good look as he is the first person you greet when entering the salon. Get a new desk man.... read more

First, I really believe you need to go to a salon three times before you review. It gives the stylist an opportunity to learn your hair and get it right. I tried this salon three times but it just isn't working for me. It seems like an upscale salon and that was what I was expecting. I really needed a consultation for a haircut and just couldn't get it. So I got my hair cut the first time and it was just ok. It wasn't the best. Nothing special. I believe though that you should give a stylist more than one chance. The second time I went I wanted to talk about my hair and how it should be cut and styled. The stylist was not forthcoming and said it was holiday time so she had to keep on schedule. I was on time for my appointment by the way. The third time I went I got highlights and expected to talk about how my hair was to be cut. My stylist told me she had to keep on schedule and couldn't talk. I was unhappy to note that she took three haircuts while my color was waiting before it was to be washed out. I'm feeling like I am not worthy of this salon. I can get better service at one of those hair salons in the mall. I will never be convinced to go back and I rarely ever say never. read more

I have never experienced better customer service in my life. This salon is amazing. I reached out to the staff here after a particularly awful haircut elsewhere looking for any advice they could give. Rather than blowing me off, the stylists offered their suggestions via email and then invited me in to the salon to "see what we can do". I explained that after spending $60+ on my already dreadful haircut, I wasn't ready to commit to another so soon. They explained that this would be free of charge- they SINCERELY just wanted to help. I went in after work and Marisa helped me blend in some very botched layers.I have never experienced such compassion from complete strangers. I know it seems dramatic but if you've ever experienced a bad haircut you know that feeling of dread/trauma/despair. The team wouldn't even let me tip them. I almost cried on the spot. I am so incredibly grateful for the help, and honestly just the compassion, that the management demonstrated to me. I cannot WAIT for a few months until I can get a new cut again so that I can return. Thank you again times a million. Keep doing what you're doing! read more

Great service. The main guy who works at the front desk and answers the phone is awesome! Very helpful! I loved my haircut (got 6 inches off!) 4 stars only because I didn't love the dye. I had a photo of what I wanted (more ombré style) and I just got a few highlights I can barely tell. The person did not want to freak me out by changing too much but I had what I wanted in the photo and my hair does not look like that. I asked if my hair could look like the photo and she said yes definitely. She did say I could come back to add more blond but I don't have 2 more hours to do it again. I moved to Fairfield last year with my husband and we both go to H Salon for regular cuts. They always do a great job and it's very reasonably priced. Yesterday, I went in to try something new - balayage. I had never gotten that done before, and haven't colored my hair at all in over 10 years. I put my trust in Shea to create a look I found online, and she did a fabulous job. When I got home, I looked at my hair from all angles and decided I wanted to add a little more highlighting in the back. I called the salon and they immediately squeezed me in for today. Long story short - Shea tweaked the style to get it exactly how I liked it, and the salon didn't even charge me for the time (over 2 hours!). I had felt bad asking Shea to tweak an already beautiful job just because I felt I wanted some minor changes, but she and the salon were more than happy to accommodate me. I cannot speak more highly of Salon H, Shea, and the other wonderful employees who work there. Their work is excellent, their attitudes friendly and warm, and their prices can't be beat! I was always impressed by the service and the professionalism of the staff, but was recently inspired to write this review by the kindness of the owners. I was hoping to get my hair cut last minute before an important event the following morning. They are professional from the front of house staff to the back of house staff and everything in between. I had bounced from place to place for years until finding my "hair home" at H salon. They do a great job with color and cuts. I've done single process color and highlights of all kinds and they stand by their work. On occasion over 4 years the color has been a bit off and they do everything and anything to make their customers happy. In terms of covid, they are taking too notch precautions. I usually go to Alexandra who is so lovely and does a 5 start job every time on my hair but I've worked with other stylists when she's not available and also have always had a great experience. Peter at the front is friendly and helpful and actually calls when there are cancellations to get you in sooner if that's what you want. Love this place. FINALLY.. someone who GETS what natural blonde (not PLAYBOY BUNNY MANSION) hair should look like. I have found my hair coloring Mecca. And it's SALON H and the stylist is MARISSA the owner of the salon. Who herself is a lovely, multi-dimensional shaded blonde who listens. Natural blonde hair has about 20 different shades in it. Marissa is the ONLY stylist in my 30 plus years of getting highlights from NYC to Boston to CT who knew what I was trying to obtain. A natural look that still had vibrancy, shine and looked good in daylight AND at cocktail parties. In the past, I have BEGGED for at least 3 different shades to be woven into my hair. Without asking, I got 6. WOW. Even my husband said when I walked in the door... "Wahoo... where have you BEEN all these years" I kid you not. I have the best/worst critic. My 15 year old daughter. Came to Ashley at H Salon to get a botched dye job fixed. I have naturally dark brown hair which I dyed into a baby pink ombre. The original dye job I got at another fairfield salon was absolutely horrible and there was no blending - it looked like a straight line of pink going across my hair. Ashley totally fixed me up! She blended the pink into the brown beautifully. She was friendly, helpful, and was a very clear communicator. Best hair salon ever! I'm from nyc but this place beats nyc hair salons and my artist Victoria did an amazing updo for me! They also Have a Great selection of accessories to play around. My appointment was with Nicole who is so sweet and VERY attentive to what her clients want. I've been getting blonde highlights for about 6 years now (I'm 22) so I've seen my fair share of salon chairs. Never in my life have I had so many foils put on my head...and the end result was AMAZING. It was the most blended, dimensional, gorgeous blonde my hair has ever seen. She worked so hard to get all of those foils in there and really wow'd me. To top it all off, Peter up front is the most cheerful human being I've met.
