My go-to haircut place in Westport. It's a nice, clean, modern salon that caters to both men and women. Rob gives a great haircut and is friendly and unpretentious. Melissa is also very nice and accommodating. (Got me in on short notice). Most importantly, Rob. He cuts hair perfectly. read more

Andrea just gave me the BEST curly haircut anyone could ask for! The BEST I've ever had!! Andrea listened to my description of what I wanted and was able to give me the shape, look and volume I'd hoped for. AMAZING!!! My hair has never looked or behaved better ... and anyone with curly hair knows what a challenge that is! Everyone I know has commented that my hair never looked this good. Rob has been cutting my hair for four years now, and when Melissa and he started a new shop last year, I came right along. He does a great job, always takes the time to see what I want (even though I always get the same haircut) and is a cool guy to talk to. Melissa (the owner) and the other stylists there seem to be very good at what they do and offer all kinds of services..but I'm not one to comment on hair dye and blow drying and whatever else it is women do. But this is a great place. I live in NYC, but since I'm in CT a lot for meetings I make sure to stop in when I need a cut. read more

A+++ I highly recommend this place. The service all around is amazing! From the minute you walk through the door you will be greeted by friendly staff and will be placed in great hands. If you are heading there for the first time you can most definitely trust your locks to every single professional there. I have been going there for almost 8 years and have sat in everybody's chair by now. Michelle is amazing with color, and Rob is super innovative with styles and color, and Andrea's is not only a pro but also fills the place with her bubbly personality and cheer, and of course Melissa who are so meticulous and will spends all the time in the world necessary to create an amazing style, she also runs a top notch business and has an eye on every little detail in the salon to make sure the perfection is achieved. I moved to CT recently and asked for a salon suggestion from a friend. I wouldn't recommend this salon after trying it a few times. The colorist was pretty good but the salon itself has an uncomfortable vibe and the owner Melissa is cold, bordering on rude. read more

This place exceeded expectations!! I have been going to Devachan for 8 years in SoHo and vowed to never go anywhere else. Until I moved to CT with a child and realized I did not have the time for a SoHo retreat anymore. Enter Andrea at Roots. She did an amazing cut and listened to my concerns. She said she always cuts a little less than too much the first time to get a feel for things. well - she cut a little less than my hair needed and 2 weeks later i called to see what we can do about it. They offered a "touch up" appt for FREE in which Andrea snipped a little but more off the top layers and i am LOVING my cut! she now knows how my hair falls and we will both be ready for the next cut in a few months! A Nor'easter brought me to Roots. Well actually, it was that my regular hair person stayed home because of the weather. I entered the salon with trepidation. I really didn't want to try someone knew, but am I glad I did! Melissa and her crew were upbeat, the decor was stylishly comfortable and not very "salon"ish, and my haircut and styling was top-notch. Hair cuts can be so personal--and I left feeling like Melissa was a new friend. I whole-heartedly recommend Roots Salon. So, if you're looking for someplace new, or even if you're not, visit Roots. This place is a hidden gem! I starting coming to Andrea at the beginning of 2012 and I could not be any happier. It seemed that all other salons I have gone to could not see my vision on what I wanted for my hair, but she got it spot on. I go to Andrea for my highlights and she does an AMAZING job at getting my color spot on and when it comes to my cut, most times I just let her do her thing because she does such an excellent job.
