While the staff is courteous and the store is well maintained, access to desirable Rolex models is clearly tied to prior spending on unrelated items rather than genuine brand loyalty or expressed interest. This expectation is neither transparent nor consistently communicated, leaving customers to guess how much they need to spend before being "considered." For an authorized dealer representing a brand like Rolex, this practice feels exclusionary and undermines trust. I recognize that demand exceeds supply, but using vague spending thresholds instead of a clear, equitable allocation process creates a poor customer experience. Greater honesty and fairness would significantly improve confidence in this store. *Update: Thank you for taking the time to call and explain your Rolex allocation process. I understand how allocations work, however my review reflects my personal experience as a customer, including communication and overall transparency during the process. It was written honestly and without malice. At this time, I don't feel it would be appropriate to remove the review unless my experience itself meaningfully changes. I hope you can understand my position. I do appreciate you reaching out and wish you and your team the best moving forward.

Recently, I brought in my old diamond engagement ring that I felt needed a new setting. Marlene took what was once a blah piece of jewelry and turned it into the most extraordinary ring I've ever owned. I was pleasantly surprised with the price and blown away with the quality of work. Yes, it took a few weeks to get my 'new' ring, but worth every minute that this lovely, friendly woman put into making my dream ring happen. Highly recommend this local jeweler. It's a gem....pun intended

I stopped in Marlowe's partly for the challenge, as I had read the several bad reviews on here and…read moreon Google. Spoiler alert: Owner Marlene was awesome! Can of hairspray in her grey hair, black and silver glitter polish on her ridiculously long nails, the most uncomfy looking fake eyelashes ever. She looked like the world's coolest, most over the top grandma, or like a cross between Joan Rivers and Cruella DeVille. I was looking for a gift for a friend and I told her I don't want to spend more than $50. She showed me several pieces that were exactly $50 and a few that were $60 to $65. That's exactly what she should have done! That's what you would do too, right, as you know these self-imposed price caps are somewhat arbitrary? I bought a nifty bracelet with an adjustable chain thingy for just over $60. She wrapped it beautifully in a box with a fancy bow. Marlene of Marlowe's is cool, she's old school and no nonsense and her look is unique and it's so un-Princeton, where everyone looks perfect and constrained and conformist. I would like to find other occasions to shop here to support this little shop.

Princeton Record Exchange is the kind of place that convinces you the past did not entirely lose…read moreit's argument with the present. Walking in makes me feel like I'm stepping back into the 90s, when music required effort and curiosity and a willingness to be wrong about what you thought you liked. They have everything. Records, tapes, CDs, and yes, even DVDs and VHS tapes, like artifacts from a civilization that understood patience. The selection is not just large, it is deep in the way a good conversation is deep. Jazz standards sit comfortably alongside obscure classical recordings. Somewhere nearby is a Japanese scream band you have never heard of but suddenly feel compelled to investigate. What makes the place work is the staff. These aren't people who ended up here by accident. They're here because they love music in a way that can't be faked. Ask for something familiar and they will find it. Ask for something strange and they will find it too, and then suggest three more things you didn't know you needed. It reminds me of the record stores I grew up in, back when discovering music felt like a small personal victory instead of an algorithm handing you a suggestion like a fortune cookie with better branding. Streaming may have made everything available, but it also made everything feel the same. This place resists that. It insists that music is still worth searching for, still worth holding in your hands, still worth talking about with another human being. Go here. Spend more time than you intended. Trade in something you hope others will discover as you once did. Leave with something unexpected. That's the whole point. Five stars, and I don't give them lightly, because enthusiasm is a finite resource and should be spent where it matters.
