A cute redhead sized us up causally-spotting Nancy's JL Reverso watch immediately-and knew we could be buyers! She's been jonesing for a Cape Cod 'double tour' watch for a while, and while I generally save Hermes gifts for Xmas/birthdays I hadn't pulled the trigger on a watch yet. Lo and behold, they had several in one of the showcases. Jo, the redhead, walked us through trying on several of the watches-and Nancy really liked the Cape Cod on the double wrap blue strap. H1912 were well priced on the piece anyway (never worn, strap 100% perfect, caseback never touched since it left the factory-original Hermes battery date sticker, casing screws perfect) yet did give us a small accommodation on the already discounted price. Box, no papers, but they also added a second year to the warranty. A few minutes later and we were back on Nassau Street, Nancy happy, Damian's wallet a bit lighter! She bought lunch, though! H1912-the goods are well selected and high quality, prices fair, staff (at least the gal, Jo, we dealt with) knowledgeable-I recommend it.

With the sentimental value that's hard to do but we decided to try rings instead. The one I fell in love with was wayyyy out of any budget I ever thought we'd afford but the owner went out of his way to bless us with the best deal ever! I can't stop looking at my ring it's absolutely stunning! Fits perfectly in my wedding band and the stone is larger than I thought we could afford! They came highly recommended from another local business owner and so we gave it a go. The owners are brothers and are BOTH extremely personable and VERY professional! They have been around since 1981 apparently and it is very easy to see why. It seems that a few of the family members work together there, and they are all just as helpful and friendly. My wife had lots of questions about diamonds and Paul did his best to make us appreciate all aspects of buying a diamond, all the while being EXTREMELY patient with us! Buying an expenisve piece of jewelery is not easy and we had to go away several times just to make sure the money was well spent. All along, Paul was again very patient and was able to keep the rings that were in 'the mix' for her, set aside out of the case until we decided on which one. My favorite is their curation of books which also reflects US social/political/economics at any moment in time you are there, although the space holds books on any subject you want to look for. I know that when I walk in there I will for sure find something that would catch my interest. Probably because the store is located right across Princeton University campus, the selection of books is always very educational and diverse in voices and subjects. But unlike in other bookstores near universities, I noticed, Labyrinth still maintains an independant vibe. Once I walked in for books about writing, and found lots of books I have not heard about or seen in B&N or any other bookstores. It was like a breath of fresh air to walk into a bookstore and find something different than what I am used to seeing and discover new material. Books are priced the same way they are in other bookshops. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Labyrinth also offers games, it's own branded merch and art by NJ local artists. If you are or are not a booklover - you should definitely check it out. Records, tapes, CDs, and yes, even DVDs and VHS tapes, like artifacts from a civilization that understood patience. The selection is not just large, it is deep in the way a good conversation is deep. Jazz standards sit comfortably alongside obscure classical recordings. Somewhere nearby is a Japanese scream band you have never heard of but suddenly feel compelled to investigate. What makes the place work is the staff. These aren't people who ended up here by accident. They're here because they love music in a way that can't be faked. Ask for something familiar and they will find it. Ask for something strange and they will find it too, and then suggest three more things you didn't know you needed. It reminds me of the record stores I grew up in, back when discovering music felt like a small personal victory instead of an algorithm handing you a suggestion like a fortune cookie with better branding. Streaming may have made everything available, but it also made everything feel the same. This place resists that. It insists that music is still worth searching for, still worth holding in your hands, still worth talking about with another human being. Go here. Spend more time than you intended. Trade in something you hope others will discover as you once did. Leave with something unexpected. That's the whole point. Five stars, and I don't give them lightly, because enthusiasm is a finite resource and should be spent where it matters.
