Tyler, one owner/guide was a very good communicator in advance of the trip. That gave us piece of mind and made it easy to slide out of a busy week and into something completely different like rafting. Our first experience with these guides in person? We heard them calling our names as we walked toward our meeting spot, not just the father/leader of the group, but everyone in our party of four. They had spent some time familiarizing themselves with who we are before we arrived. Good start. Our entire experience was quite personalized since we went on a Monday. Plenty of time to get to know these two fine guys who are clearly putting their hearts into building their business. They were willing to discuss just about anything that came up, always graciously. Obviously, they have a great deal of experience on these waters. And apparently they are well regarded by many of the guides at other outfitters. Everyone in our party including a 9 and 12 year old had limited rafting experience. Even so, Daniel, who ended up guiding us, had an easy going manner and treated each individual with consideration and respect. He was really tuned into each person's self-imposed limits and offered everyone, in sensitive and intelligent ways, a chance to challenge him/herself and grow a bit. It worked. He made a low flow day on the South Fork entertaining, relaxing, invigorating and overall really excellent. a few more things: before departure they asked for sandwich choice for lunch. The 9 year old requested grilled cheese. Tyler's reply: we can make that happen. When we arrived for lunch, Tyler had everyone's deli sandwich (more more) ready to go and was working the frying pan to chef up not one, but two grilled cheese sandwiches. Then there were the home made brownies on the ride home. Then there was all the video he captured during the day. Good stuff. They are admittedly scrambling to keep up with the demands of buying out an existing rafting company and becoming owner/operators. But they were certainly able to make their customers the sole priority during our day with them. We'll be back for more. read more

Wowza, if I could give them 10 stars I would. Guides, food, equipment, lunch spots, rapids were all exceptional. My family rendezvoused from Salt Lake and Phoenix to spend three days on the river to celebrate my parents 30th anniversary. We had a group of six and one encridible guide raging through the white water rapids of the south and middle fork of the American River. My family and I invested a lot of money for this trip (flights, lodging, etc) just to raft the American river; it was worth every penny! When we weren't face first in the rapids, our guide Danny shared history of the area, educated us on the wildlife (my dad asked a million and one questions), and was an all around joy to talk with. From the moment we met Danny, my whole family felt comfortable. I will admit, a few of the people in our party were a little nervouse about white water rafting. That fear dwindled when we realized how comfortable Danny was on the river. The man new exactly what the river was doing at all times and how to maneuver the raft. After this trip, I would trust the dude with my life! Each day our river guide served us a delicous lunch that ranged from wraps, deli sandwiches, fresh fruit, salads, and desesrts. Our lunch spots were beautiful! Two of our lunches were completely private with nothing but gorgeous vies to observe. Beyond rafting, Danny pointed us to a 100yard cave we were able to hike to that led to a field a fresh black raspberries(not lying!) he also let us get out of the raft and swim rapids, jump off cliffs, and raft through a class 4+ rapid! My family and I will be returning to h2o adventures! We can not wait to get back on the river! H2o yeah!!!!!!!!! read more

H20 adventures is AWESOME! I was texting the owner some questions, and apparently didn't confirm all the way (SO CONFIRM- by EMAIL- this was on me), and showed up whole family in tow. Tyler was very friendly and accommodating and found an extra guide so we could go. Onto the trip- our guide (Mike? I forget)) was so skilled, knowledgeable, and amazing. I thought the whole event was like a walk in the park, and then we encountered the first rapids. Some of them are pretty steep/ fast. I went with a 9 and 12 year old, and they loved it! we jumped off some cliffs, jumped in the water in fast bits, paddled and had an amazing time. the brownies at the end of the trip were just the icing on the cake. Finally getting around to writing our review from our July 31 trip down the Middle Fork of the American River. We could not have asked for a better trip!! After getting shuttled to the river entry point, we started off the trip with a great safety intro from Tyler, and then split up onto our respective rafts. We were lucky enough to get Ted! He was so knowledgeable and funny, and treated the trip as enthusiastically as if it was his first time on the river too! (First time on the river as a very experienced guide, of course) None of the raft guides at H2O seemed like they wanted to be anywhere else but on the river with all their clients. That made us all feel so welcome! Ted knew all the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of the river...which made it so enjoyable for us. Thank you, Ted! We want to go back every year for an adventurous day on the river. Wraps were provided for lunch, and brownies/icicles and water were provided at the end! We had an incredible time! Daniel, our guide, made our experience absolutely unforgettable! We had a scared 8 year old in our group, who didn't even want to go, after the very first rapid, he was hooked! Daniel made him, and all of us, feel safe, comfortable and excited! We went the first weekend in July, and it was hot and the water was cool and refreshing. Daniel knew the river so well and could point out all the landmarks and safe places to swim to cool off. H20 Adventures is a great company and a super fun experience! I've rafted with other companies with inexperienced guides and where you just felt like one of the many! With H20 Adventures the experience of our guide made all the difference and you really feel the personal touch!! They make you feel like your trip is the most important and they know how special the experience is for you! They also have so many adventures to offer that after you go once you'll get addicted and want to go again and again!! I wish I could better express how much fun we had!! We can't say enough great things about our raft trip, our guide, and the H2O as a whole. We booked this trip last year, and due to things out of everyone's control, had to schedule several times. Fianna, who I understand is one of the owners, (sp) is a gem and her customer service is exceptional. That spirit shows in the guides, too! We have done a few on the upper South Fork with different companies, but H2O, made our first time down the lower South Fork stellar. Our guide Ann, was witty, engaging, knowledgeable, and understood we were out to push ourselves, to treat our grandson for his birthday trip (his request), and have a blast....she did not disappoint. And as someone who is a bit afraid of water, I felt completely safe such that my husband said I was smiling in the rapids (and the pictures prove this!). In addition, we were pleasantly surprised by the lunch/snacks provided....fresh, hearty, and just enough. Oh and Miss Tracy's brownies at the end of the day...yum...I just can't say enough. This was my second time rafting the American River and I can definitely say this time was awesome! Most of the other rafting companies get you on the river and get you down as quick as possible, but not H20 Adventures. This company is definitely the best on the river. The family owned aspect is amazing and the owner brings homemade brownies for everyone at the end of the trip. Definitely unexpected and they were absolutely delicious. We had Jeff Brown as our guide and not only was he super energetic and fun, but he took his time and made the trip well worth our time. We put in a chili bar and took out at the Coloma bridge (typical 1/2 day raft trip) and it took us about 3 hours to cover the around 6 miles of river. We had so much fun along the way and even learned a thing or 2 about the river that I didn't even know. We will definitely be returning and probably doing the lower half with lunch since it was so much fun! read more

We had a group of 14 rafting the end of June from KC, Iowa, Seattle and locals and had an absolutely amazing and memorable time with ages from 14-55. Our guides Duff, Danny, Teagan and Kelsey took very good care of us, were tons of fun and made the all day trip down the Middle Fork of the American River unforgettable. The lunch and snacks were healthy and filling. Our group had to make an additional stop because one of our teens was having some anxiety. We just got back from the South Fork rafting trip, hosted by H20. For some of us, it was our fourth trip and for a few, it was their first trip. We all had the BEST time! We reserved 2 boats. One for the adults and one for the teenagers. Zara was with the adults. She was funny, knowledgeable and made our trip super fun. Ben was with the teenagers (sorry lol). He also did a great job explaining the safety aspect of rafting as well as the different paddle strokes and scenarios that may come up. He was funny and made the trip super fun. He had us "splitting up laughing" Thanks for that LOL. The lunch was really, really good. The fresh fruit was my favorite, but everything else was delicious as well. This was our first trip with H20 and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. They did a great job. To top off the end of our trip, we were given THE most delicious brownies ever! Thank You to the brownie baker. They were freshly baked and still warm. They were OH SO YUMMY!!!! Thank You for making our friends & family trip so special, fun and exciting. Our rafting trip was fun, but I would not recommend this company bc one of their guides in another raft decided to showboat and "surf" in the middle of the rapids. This is like deciding to stop in the middle of the freeway and check your text message. Hello..there are other rafts trying to get through! Our guide did not want to hit them straight on, so he turned our raft and we side swiped them. This caused our raft to severely tilt sideways, and my husband and our 6 yr old son and one other adult fell out of the raft in the middle of rocky rapids. Of course I panicked because my husband and my young son were stuck under the raft. Luckily everyone was pulled to safety. Our guide was swift to react thankfully. But overall, it was very reckless for this other guide to stop his raft in the middle of the rapids while there were several other rafts quickly coming down the pipe. read more

Had an awesome guide, Ted, good group and excellent lunch in the shade at Rivers Bend Resort. Our family trip was a great adrenaline rush and full of laughs on the river. We (our entire boat) were so happy we chose H20 when we saw all the other large groups that we passed on the river. We got to do extra activities, such as trust building with our oars and jumping off a 30 foot rock, which my teenagers LOVED...would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to have an awesome time on the river. H2o adventures is super professional and super fun at the same time. Our guide, Tegan was so nice and really informative. She was really easy to have conversation with because she was so nice. She also customized some of the rapids for us, which made it a little more fun! The meeting spot was easy to find, and they provide water for the trip. I kind of wish they had food afterwards. But it was fine. Just bring snacks to eat after, all that paddling can get a little tiring. :) haha. I definitely recommend this trip for anyone though!
