So in a random whim we decided to go rafting for the first time. After a quick search we found H2O. The price was reasonable and the reviews seem great. Now here's how our day went. We were greeted at the meet up area by very friendly people. Got to the loading area and they explained everything to us in great detail and checked all of our safety equipment. I felt very safe and secure. We had two groups and loaded the rafts. Our guide Nacala, was fantastic, gave us very clear instructions and made us feel safe and had the best fun personality. Our raft felt like a group of friends quickly. Later on I feel in the water during a rather large rapid, which was terrifying but I was scooped up quickly and checked for injuries. I felt very cared for safe and looked after. I felt a genuine care from Nacala and was very supportive. Now comes lunch. They have every fixing for a great sandwich you can think of. Chips and fruit and cookies. It was a bomb lunch. We continued on and everything was perfect. Once we got back to the van they had homemade brownies made by the owners mom......how perfect!!! By the end of the experience I felt like I made great friends during and absolutely amazing, thrilling, and life changing experience. I can not wait to book a trip again with them. read more

This is one of the best river companies I have rafted with! Our guide Lee was phenomenal! Lee made sure we knew the importance of the commands and made sure everyone was in sink to have a smooth trip. Through out the trip Lee would ask if we wanted the easy route or the adventurous route obviously we choose the adventurous route while learning how to surf on a raft. We did fall out a couple of times and every single boat was on it to shout and yell in which direction we should swim. Although it was a bit terrifying we definitely plan on coming back! read more

Just finished my first rafting adventure with H2O Adventures and it was amazing! My family of 4 rafted down the South Fork American River with Blake as our guide. From the moment we walked up everyone was kind and professional. Safety was a priority and the rafts and equipment were top notch. Blake was the perfect guide, he was entertaining, informative, funny and just an all around great guy! I highly recommend H2O Adventures for an amazing rafting experience and consider it a bonus if you get Blake as your guide, if you are lucky he may sing one of his original rafting songs. What a fun experience!! Daniel took out 11 of us in two rafts (many of us were first timers). Though the water level was lower than usual due to the drought, he found inventive ways for us to still have a blast out on the American River. Between pranking us to make sure everyone on the boat got wet and fell in at some point and stacking the boat so we would be riding in style on a double decker raft, I know I'll definitely be back again. I went rafting a couple times before and this one by far was the best one! We did the middle fork route. We started early 8:30 am in the morning. There were no delays. Our guide was Ted, and the day we went happened to also be his birthday. His enthusiasm and knowledge about rafting was great. He made sure that everyone on the boat was safe and having fun. We were also given the opportunity to jump from a small cliff. The route overall was really fun. Many rapids that were exciting. There are areas with calm waters too, so we had a chance to relax in the water. For lunch, we made our own wraps with the ingredients they provided. In the end, we were provided with bottles of water and yummy brownies! read more

I heard about H20 adventures through a friend of mine. I showed up with group of 10 of my friends, some of whom had experience rafting and some of whom were absolutely terrified. You'd think a guide may struggle with a crew of such drastic differences in experience and "adventurous levels" within our two boats. The guides absolutely killed it. We had more fun than the other groups out there without question. They let us get involved in the rapids if we were feeling it, or back down and stay dry if we weren't. Their experience on the river was clear and had us involved to the level of our choosing. Personally I'm all for getting dunked in the river, so they explained the safe areas to get technical or not, and what to watch out for. Not a question that I will be back with them not only on the American, but the other rivers they cover as well. If you want to go rafting with a corporate company that burns through new guides every year - go with someone else. If you want to ride with experienced guides who know the river like their drive home from work, give H20 Adventures a call. See you out there! read more

My hubby (aka rookie) and I went on a trip last week on a tuesday. We took advantage of the special that was going on for $99 pp. tyler was our guide (also one of the owners) and he was fantastic! He made my virgin (where white water is concerned ;)) hubby at ease. the hubby gave it two thumbs up and wanted to do it again! SCORE! We did the III-IV rapids and we didn't even fall out (close tho) but I have done a II-III and fell out (not gonna lie that was scary, but I am all about getting back on the horse). In any case 5+ stars it is... He took his time, did something called surfing (that was even new for me) and OMG we ate wild blackberries on the side of the river! Like nothing less than amazing. H2O Adventures is the best company to go rafting with. Hands down. Do NOT waste your time or money on any other company! It was easy to see what sets H2O Adventures apart from other rafting companies. They go the extra mile to make sure you have the best day possible. Even before you step into the raft. Tyler, our guide and owner of the company, surprised us with donuts and hot coffee in the van. A nice treat at 7 am! Once we were on the river, it was clear that Tyler was dedicated to providing the best rafting experience possible. While other rafts and companies seemed to be cruising along the river more concerned with 'ferrying' customers from 'point A to point B', Tyler took the time to show us the hidden gems on the river and allow us to see a side of California that we've never seen before. Additionally, Tyler has a vast knowledge of California history which allowed him to tell us all the interesting facts about the river we were on and how that area operated as a mining town during the California gold rush. He was able to point out historical structures and provide remarkable history about the area we were in. As for the rafting, hitting the rapids in the most exciting way is all about proper navigation. Tyler has over a decade worth of rafting experience which is critical in order to have a good trip. Tyler made sure we approached the rapids at an angle which allowed us to fully enjoy the rapids without tipping over or flying out of the raft. Furthermore, he gave us options in maneuvering the river various ways that were appropriate with our comfort level. Only an experienced guide can guarantee that you will hit all the rapids in a way that provides the perfect mixture of fear and excitement. Rafting is more than hitting rapids. Experienced river rafting for the first time and I'm sooo glad that we chose H2O Adventures. When we booked the activity and when we first arrived, Fiona was extremely helpful in providing us with all of the information we need. Tyler, who I believe runs the company, was very accommodating. One of my friends forgot her water shoes back at our campsite, which was only about 5-10 minutes away but still out of our way. Tyler offered to pass by our campsite to get the water shoes before dropping us off to where we were starting our rafting. Our guide, Dave or "peaches", was beyond cool! He made us feel very comfortable during our rafting experience especially during the times that I was panicking. He also went way above and beyond in providing good customer service. He was really good at "surfing" and we enjoyed it so much so he let us do those parts over and over again. I also asked if there are good spots in the river for rock jumping so he made sure to bring us to two awesome spots. He was also very patient even when we were too scared to jump. Lol at the end, we were welcomed with cold water and the best brownies ever made by Tyler's mom. Overall, it was a super awesome experience! read more

Great river, awesome rapids - mostly class 3 and 4. More importantly they started almost on time and ended on time. This is a smaller company compared to others in the river community but that gives the advantage of smaller groups and setup time. Compared to the last one which had about 60 people group, this was around 25 people. Guides made it a lot of fun and it was quite exciting. read more

After a super tough couple of months of work, my partner and I needed a trip that would make sure we could take a break. H20 rafting was the perfect mixture of terrifying, relaxing, out of your element and moments of stillness to push you back into reality. We picked the Middle fork full day. Our guide Duff was exceptional! His jokes weren't very funny, sorry Duff but they weren't. However while I wouldn't recommend a stand up comedian job for him, rafting was his element! He was experienced, made sure we were well equip to handle what was coming and was about educating us on the surrounding area and getting us home in one piece. Which to me could not have been better. It also takes a great skill to keep a good environment between a whole bunch of strangers stuck on a small raft together and getting them to work as team, which Duff accomplished brilliantly. As the person who continuously fell in (3 times....) and had to be rescued, I still felt exceptionally safe and had a blast. Will be back in the spring after investigating further how I can stay in the boat better next time :) Thanks H20 and Duff for a great trip! read more

Tyler went out of his way to find a go pro mount for me last minute and he even kindly offered his own shoes since i forgot my water shoes in my car. Great people who love rafting. Ched was an amazing guide who has loads of experience. I was a first time rafter who went on a level 4-5 on the YUBA river. We managed well since he gave good instructions and had a good handling. Our family (2 adults 2 kids) did the South Fork of the American River 13 Miles "1-Day" (Class II-III) trip and had one of those days you will always remember. Lunch was included. We were met in the morning with a warm greeting by our terrific guide, Nacala. She was the perfect mixture of fun and professionalism. We could tell that she loved her job and did everything she could to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our day on the river. There was no question she was an experienced guide and knew the river like the back of her hand. Anyone that has ever done that stretch knows there are plenty of obstacles and she navigated them flawlessly. When we started, our 10 year old was very nervous as this was her first time, but Nacala was able to put her at ease by her easy going and inquisitive attitude. We also decided to pick up the pictures taken at the two locations on the river. Amazing family memories were created FOR SURE! We look forward to requesting Nacala as ourr guide again! read more

H20 Adventures is a great company that had really great service all around, not just helping us navigate some awesome rapids on the river but also at the campsite and exploring the local area. I had a very enjoyable weekend in their care. The campsite is in a beautiful space right on the river and easily accessible from the main road. There is plenty of room to set up tents and relax at the picnic tables or near a fire pit. The food was also stellar and prepared right on time. If you would like to take a great trip on the river, and also have a really fun time with some cool guides and super personalized service, I highly recommend H20 Adventures. We did the Middle Fork with Tyler today and had an amazing experience. Our teenage daughter (who would honestly rather be watching youtube) said that this trip was more fun than Disneyland we did last week. Tyler was an awesome guide, we felt safe in his hands and he seemed to know the river routes better than any of the other guides from other companies. Tyler was entertaining, encouraging, calm, and professional the whole trip. Even when my daughter "took a swim" on the Tunnel Chute, he made it a positive experience for her and she was willing to take more risks downriver with his guidance. A fun day on the South Fork of the American River.. The South Fork is perfect for families with preteen children..lots of modest rapids and a really scary challenge of jumping off a high rock... I think almost all of the children and many of the parents climbed high and jumped into the river.. Our guide, Steve, did a great job. I have rafted many rivers, big and small, and was impressed how quickly our crew learned the basics and how skilled Steve was in guiding our raft.. This was my first time ever whitewater rafting. I will be honest and say that I was absolutely terrified when I first got on the raft. However, our guide, Ann, was so incredibly kind. She really made me feel comfortable. I could tell that she genuinely cared about the safety, well-being and enjoyment of each of us on her boat. She would check in with us a few times during the day to ask how we are all doing and how we are feeling. Between each rapid, she would explain the nuances of the rapids that were about to happen, the instructions that she was going to give, and the river conditions that made those instructions necessary. She would also tell us some cool stories while we were on the river. I also really liked how all of the boats would look out for each other. I was confident that if I was to fall out of the raft, they would find me and get me back up into a boat rather quickly. The lunch was fresh and yummy. They also had protein bars for us to eat while we were on the river, which was really nice. In the morning, when I first sat down on the raft, I did not think that I would want to go rafting again after this trip. Now, I would love to go again, and I hope that guy get to be in Ann's boat again. Thank you to all of the staff for making this a wonderful experience for me. read more
