We had a blast on the South fork. We were a group of 6, some in our 60s. Steph was fantastic. We weren't the best paddlers but the trip was expertly run like we knew what we were doing. She explained a lot about the river and gave us every opportunity to enjoy rafting, rock diving and rapids swimming. It was just what the new rafters were looking for. Steph explained all the safety info and what to do if nature called. After riding the bull one of our group came up for a breath saying she got sooo much pee in her mouth. Whitewater rafting has been an annual tradition for my friends and I for the past decade. We've used several companies but none compare to H2O Adventures. It's a family owned company and it really has the family feel. We always camp with them before rafting and we're always personally welcomed and helped settle in to our site. They always come around to make sure we have enough propane to cook with, and one time even brought a small stove to our site when there were larger groups around so we didn't have to wait to cook. The raft guides are experienced and always loads of fun. They always take time to add in the extra bits like jumping off a rock or having someone riding bull to make the trip extra special. We've had some great story tellers, some who explained the water properties and local flora and fauna, you can tell that they love what they do. We were a group of 8 and for most of us, this was our first time river rafting. I'm so glad we decided to go with H2O! Our guide Sean was awesome! Super chill guy who was good at giving instructions and positive feedback. He was knowledgeable, friendly and patient. He let us jump in the water when it was possible and safe. I also got to swim one of the rapids! If you go with H2O, ask for Sean C! I took my friends whitewater rafting at the upper section of south fork on 08/07/22. This was their first time doing whitewater rafting and they enjoyed it. I've done rafting twice at the lower section of south fork with another company, but this was also my first time at the upper section. After this trip, I found that the upper section is more fun than the lower section of the south fork. Shoutout to the rest of the staff! They were great and friendly too! You can tell they enjoy what they're doing from the good vibes they are sending. Thanks Jeremy for the interesting history about the town Coloma and the yummy homemade brownies!!! We spent a memorable afternoon on the Middle Fork of the American River in the hands of our capable and personable guide, Emerson. H2O is a well-run operation with a hardworking crew who cared for everything except the paddling, which we had to do more than I expected. But then, this was my first whitewater rafting trip, and I should have known the required level of "crew" participation. If I were to criticize anything I might say at times it felt like we were pressured to keep up with the rest of the caravan (or whatever you call a string of rafts) resulting in minimal time for swimming, lingering, or taking a rest break otherwise, I would highly recommend this outfit. read more

We had the best rafting experience with H20 Adventures yesterday. We have rafted with several companies in the area and out of state and H20 Adventures exceeded all expectations. The meetup point is super easy to find and secure. We rode up to the put in spot in a comfortable van getting facts about the area the whole ride up. They have the highest quality gear I've ever seen. So you can be assured safety is important to them. We opted to try class 4 rapids after years of class 1-3 and we definitely had a thrilling experience. We had a yummy lunch picnic with plenty to go around that the guides set up. It's a nice break to recharge. The absolute best part of our trip was our guide Devon who was warm, funny, and adventurous. You can tell he loves sharing the river with guests. He was able to offer suggestions based on our abilities and comfort levels so he will definitely level up your experience if you're looking for thrills. Just experienced a trip down the middle fork yesterday. Our guide was Marina. She was awesome. It was an all day excursion, full of excitement. Class 3 & 4 rapids were quite a gnarly ride. It was absolutely gorgeous. Our guide was super knowledgeable and made the trip a memory we will never forget! Marina talked us through the rapids and gave great instruction to help us be a good team paddling down the river. Michelle was our guide and she kept us very safe in some pretty crazy conditions. She was very helpful with the hearing impaired person on the boat that needed a little extra volume of commands on what to do. We had kids aged 12-13 in our boat. This was an AWESOME experience. We got completely lost on the way (Google literally took us in circles). I was freaking out because we were going to be 3 minutes late. They not only calmed us down, but they helped us get directions and waited for us to start the trip. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. Our guide, Cassidy, was incredible! It was obvious that she was extremely familiar with the river. She took great patience with our uncoordinated family, and gave us an experience to remember. I read other reviews on this company and they were excellent, so I booked a trip for my husband and kids.  The reviews were on point.  Fianna answered a lot of my questions before I booked.  This company is a smaller outfit run by a husband and wife team and they offer good prices (there is a spring promo currently on their website), quality equipment (my husband said the gear all seemed really good and wetsuits and splash guards are included in the cost), and professional and knowledgable guides (my husband said their guide, Devin, was super knowledgeable about the river and rapids and kept them safe and entertained during their trip).  My family did the afternoon Gorge run on the South Fork of the American River.  It was my kids' first time and they had a blast!!! Had a great time rafting the North Fork of the American with H2O over Memorial Weekend! Tyler and Fianna were super responsive to any questions we had before the trip. The waters were fast and high this year due to all the rain but extra precautions were taken and we felt very safe while on the river. Shoutout to our guide Kevin for navigating us through the rapids like a boss and making sure we were having a good time! The provided wet suits and splash jackets were welcome and necessary as the water was pretty cold. Lunch was a nice spread of fruit, snacks, drinks, and DIY wraps. This was the best rafting trip I have ever taken. From start to finish, everything was amazing! It started with wanting to book a fun rafting trip for the day before my wedding for my guests. I started interacting with the owners Tyler and Fianna and they helped me plan a custom trip that fit into our tight wedding schedule. We weren't exactly sure how many people would be able to make it but they were so accommodating to our changes. They were so easy to get a hold of via email, text, and cell. On the actual day of the trip, we met Fianna and she made sure we were all set up with waivers and payments, and then she handed us off to our amazing guides and driver.
