This Winery has been on my wishlist for some time now, so I was super excited to experience their wine tasting. We drove over an hour to this facility on Valentine's Day and overall it was a really good experience. There were 5 wine options on the menu and they were all really good. The wine tasting also included some history of the Haak, lesson on the characteristics of wine such as tannins, wine swirl and acidity. It was very informative. They also have vendor who sells desserts. I ordered the Dubai strawberries which was really good and paired well with the wines. The only downside was that we felt like the wine tasting ended abruptly. There was no follow-up or attempt to get us to buy a glass or bottle, so we ended up leaving. Overall it was a good experience but they missed the mark at the end. If we lived closer, I'd definitely try them again. read more

I booked a Saturday tour for my husband and I. Jesse was our incredible tour guide, he was knowledgeable, engaging, and patient with all of our group's questions. I really enjoyed learning about the vineyard's history and winemaking process. Throughout the tour, we were able to sample several wines, which made the experience even more enjoyable. At the end, we were treated to a full glass of our choice. I went with the Cabernet Franc while my husband chose the Amoricito sweet red. We were both happy with our choices. We took our glasses outside, strolled the grounds, and soaked in the relaxing atmosphere. This is the perfect spot to enjoy at an unhurried pace. read more

I came on a Saturday evening around 6pm for a friend's birthday party. Per her friend who planned the event said, "Haak was the only place she could find that could accommodate a party of 16 people." It is a drive to get to the winery, especially if you're driving from the north side of Houston. The winery is located on a residential street. The neighborhood appears to be of people who purchased land and built a home or put a mobile home on the property. So do not be alarmed, keep driving as you are in the right place. Be mindful at night, there are no street lights on the roads when leaving. Once there it is a very nice building inside and out. We didn't get a chance to go outside to the vineyard to take pictures, because it was blocked to set up for a proposal later that evening. Looking from the window the vineyard is large and a beautiful space to take photos. The winery had plenty of seating indoors and outdoors and a decent selection of wine. The party host was allowed to bring outside food, because the winery does not have an onsite restaurant/kitchen. They have store bought charcuterie packages and lunchables for purchase. They do have canned sodas and juices for purchase as well. We were able to try 5 different Haak branded wines ranging from driest to sweetest. Our waiter Jesse was very knowledgeable and called himself, "A wine connoisseur." He was great and when I go back, I will definitely ask for him. We stayed and celebrated my friend until it closed, which was at 9pm. Overall we had a great experience from the time we entered to the time we left. They do have different events throughout the month. If I lived closer, I'd definitely make this a frequent local place to visit. I'm not sure if they have a live band come and play music throughout the month; but it would be a great addition especially on a weekend. If you're looking for a winery that is close to Houston and can host a large birthday party, this is your place to go. read more

If you'd told me that Houston would be home to such an amazing wine region with vineyards producing traditional wine varieties (unlike the Muscat grapes commonly grown in South Carolina and Florida due to the heat and climate), I would have been skeptical. But this region truly surprised me, and I'm now eager to return and explore more of Texas wine country! Beautiful winery with a wonderful selection of wines! I could only purchase one bottle due to travel, but the experience was memorable thanks to the friendly staff who took the time to ask about our preferences and share insights about the winery. They grow their own grapes, but due to a recent freeze, they had to source some from Lubbock, TX. Here's a recap of what I sampled: - 2022 Roussanne: Originating from France, this grape grows well in warm climates like CA, WA, TX, Southern Africa, and Australia. The wine was dry with subtle notes of pineapple, honey, and brioche. - 2022 Tempranillo: Rich with flavors of black cherry, tobacco, and vanilla. - 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon: One of my favorites, showcasing blackberry, vanilla, and a hint of cinnamon. - Purple Porpoise: An off-dry blend (I forgot to ask the grape selection), this was rich and jammy with notes of blackberry and cherry. Additionally, I sampled the **2022 Gewürztraminer**, which had dry green apple notes (likely 0.0% RS), and the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, which was bright and lively with hints of passion fruit and pineapple. Overall, I was impressed by the range of traditional grapes that can be grown in the deep south of Texas--especially compared to Florida, where muscadine grapes are predominant. this place is so unorganized. the manager ( I think his name is Alex) gets rattled very easily and is rude. we have been going here for years, but after this experience we will NOT be going again. in the past couple of years the wine quality has gone down. not great tasting now. not sure what changes they have made to cause such bad tasting wine, and rude managers, but they need to fix it ASAP! read more

My husband and I stopped by HAAK while visiting from out of town. Very cute remote location with a pretty view, variety of wines, snacks, seating options (indoor & outdoor), wine tours and service or self serve options. We opted for the self serve option which was pretty neat and gave us the flexibility to order whatever. Credit card like feature with different glass offerings so you can choose your pour size and order as many options as you like. TBH I thought the pours were overpriced for the quality... avg for about $4 for 1oz. Now let's talk about the wines. They're just ok. I wouldn't buy a bottle - Tempranillo was decent. Wouldn't recommend the Malbec. We'd recommend this spot if you're looking to get just a "little" out of the hustle bustle area -- & hang out, relax & sip a glass of wine. read more

Beautiful winery in Santa Fe! I have been a handful of times, however this time I went for their "children's day". This was a free event that they do monthly. There was a petting zoo, bounce houses, snow cones, and a child entertainer w bubbles, wands, unicorn snot, etc. It wasn't crowded at all. I would say their wine was a little on the sweeter side...but what's not to enjoy about good wine, good band, and your kids leaving you alone? I have a feeling this will be a monthly trip! read more

If I were only rating the wine, my review would be much higher, a 5. The space is gorgeous and was recently remodeled. I have enjoyed their wines for a long time. Initially, I enjoyed their sweet red wines. My tastes have changed, and I prefer dry wines. Their dry and semi-dry Blanc Du Bois is incredible. I highly recommend them. During this visit, I tried one of their dry reds at the recommendation of one of their staff. My favorite wine is Cabernet Sauvignon. Their Reserve Texas High Plains 2017 was beautifully dry and full of dark fruit flavors. I could not give them a 5 simply because I was there to try out their new Bistro. Unfortunately, the food was not ready for customers at this stage. I tried three dishes that all failed for one reason or another. The pulled brisket nachos weren't hot and the brisket was like a paste (not appealing to look at). The crawfish etouffee was a cold shrimp soup served in a deep bowl. It didn't even have crawfish and did not resemble a crawfish etouffee. Finally, I tried the BLT panini. The best part of that dish was the fries. Otherwise, the sandwich was bland. read more

I've been here many times. The most recent visit was for a Mother's Day chocolate and wine tasting. The chocolates were really pretty and very tasty. We enjoyed all the wines, also. My only complaint is that they just plopped them in front of us with a list, with no explanation or descriptions of the wines. We had to sort out which chocolate was which so we could taste them with the correct wine per the list. I understand they were busy, but if they're not going to take the time to describe the wines, they should at least have the information on the printout they provided. read more

My hubs and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and decided to spend it at Haak Vineyards & Winery. When we entered the place, I felt right at home because the atmosphere was cozy. We were helped right away by the staff. Our tour guide was Shelley, who was beyond knowledgable about the winery and the various types of wine we tasted as well as the ones we hadn't had the pleasure to taste. We were shown around the grounds and were given information about how the wine was grown and processed. We recognized the Odin's Table sign during the tour and put two and two together. My hubby mentioned seeing the sign at the Renn Fest. I enjoyed the tour immensely. Once the tour ended, we were given information about the wine club offered through the company. We were so enamored with the entire process that I chose to be part of the wine club. It was a fantastic experience, and we definitely look forward to visiting Haak Winery in the future. *Pros: knowledgeable staff, relaxing atmosphere, tasteful wine (red and white), excellent customer service, nice and clean *Cons: Personally, I think the winery's medals should be showcased in the front foyer where the saddle was showcased. It's funny looking at reviews because you are either for or against! I am for this place with the incredible views. What was the best part? Totally exploring the vineyards with my pup! My pup and I got to stay here for harvest hosts and are grateful for the experience. What could use improvement? Service for sure.... I know they had a club night tonight but I couldn't get anyone to help me outside without having to go out of my way and stop them. Clientele here is pretty ritzy! I did a Groupon for group of 4 tour and tasting of this winery. It was my birthday and i was interested in seeing how this would've been since I've only been to winery's in California that are huge but from what i experienced is something i think will stay with me for the rest of my life. We had a tour guide name Elizabeth and she truly made the whole experience. She was a little fluster i guess from the tour before us but even with maybe being understaff and over worked that day she was still able to make my first Texas winery and my birthday something i will never forget. She was funny , she personalized the tour so much even in a big group she made us feel like it was a private event. She made us laugh , she taught so so much , she made us feel like we were apart of the haak family. she is HAAK vineyards and winery. We did a family reunion event here. It was great!! We were able to purchase the bottles ahead of time and they served it at the event. The food was phenomenal - we had chicken with mushrooms, broccoli, and pasta. Oh my god the chicken was so tender, the broccoli was buttery and the pasta was a little over cooked but deliciously flavored. They had a concert outside as well with a band. The music was decent. As far as the wines itself, I really enjoyed the bland du bois. They have a dry and a semi-sweet but I really like the dry. The reds are a bit hit or miss for me. I thought some of them were a bit too sweet (but most Texas wine are) and for some of the drier reds they tasted a bit tannin-y. They also have a fun wine "vending machine" thing! read more

We decided to come here to celebrate my friends 26th birthday, and we sure are happy we did! The wine tour costs $15 which include five sorts of wines to sample. Our tour guide was Robin and she was very entertaining to say the least. The tour itself was OK. I was expecting to walk to parts of the Vineyard, but instead we mostly stayed on the covered patio or in the establishment. It had rained the day before and the ground was completely wet, so this could have been the reason why we did not walk the grounds. We were taken to an underground cellar where Miss Robin gave us a history lesson in the vineyard. We moved into the brewing warehouse where she discuss the types of wines that were made here in the types of grapes that were growing on the Vineyard, etc. etc. We finally moved on to the wine sampling! It was amazing and entertaining. We got to meet Chef Tyler, who has actually been on TV show, Chopped competing with Celebrity Chef, Gordon Ramsey. What a little gem! You wouldn't think this classy and pretty a place would be right off 6 in Santa Fe. The wine was delicious and unique... they really do things their own way and it shows in the wine. I love anything that sets itself apart while also staying true to the standard type. The staff was super easy-going and welcoming, and quick to tell you the answers to any questions you have about all the wines. Even more, they gave me a sample of one I wasn't so sure of. This is so appreciated, especially when they throw their own twist into something. Speaking of twists, get some food while you're here! Their pork bellies are amazing. We also ordered the french onion dip, which is a real dipping DIP, just in case you expected more of an "au jus" consistency like we did... it was still tasty, but definitely more solid than liquid. Took my bestie here when she came to visit. I purchased the Groupon tour for 4 which included 5 tastings. There was a small group of 7 which was great and intimate. We had so much fun learning about the wines and tasting them. They have awesome events they host throughout the year. The night we went they were hosting a star gazing event. Randomly happened upon this winery and vineyard by chance while in the area. Immediately I thought the exterior was gorgeous and so well-maintained. The tasting room had a super fun system that allowed self-paced, self-guided wine tasting with automatic dispensers. Loved this! While I didn't love all the wines (but who expects to love every single one?!), there were several I enjoyed, would have paired well with food, and there were also some great patio wines as well. I'm giving one star because I purchased a bottle then was given a plastic cup to drink out of. When I asked for a glass I was told they were all reserved for a private party and given another excuse well people like to leave with the glasses as to why the shortage. I then noticed a couple who returned their glasses and asked for theirs and the young man acted as if I was burdening him by asking him to wash it out for me. He literally rinsed it and left the lipstick stain from the previous user and didn't even clean off the rim. How disgusting especially with Covid and all. The two attendants seemed young and naive. read more

Ten out of ten winery I've ever been to! The scenery is spectacular and the service is by far the best! This winery has been taking care of my mom and for over 8 years! Lane is one of the servers that always takes care of me when I come in on the weekends. I usually get the charcuterie board which always compliments my wine and it is FABULOUS! They have different selections of different types of taste buds and you always get what you pay for when you go! We are also wine club member so we get three to four bottles of wine for free each month with a 30% discount on every bottle. We love it here and we know you will too! Wine club parties every three months are such a good time as well! read more

We really enjoyed our experience here. This is actually my first winery trip. The location is hidden in a neighborhood. The owners live next to it, so they say. The vineyard area is huge so there is plenty of space for group pictures and even marriage proposals, without walking all over each other. It is a family friendly place so they have a small play area for children. They have a spacious covered area with plenty tables where you can just sit and enjoy wine and snacks, that they sell in their store. We had a Groupon which included a tour and $20 credit, which can be used on anything except wine. The tour was nice. It was short, sweet and informative, just perfect during this Houston heat. The blush wine was my fav, it was the sweetest, which is my preference. My only suggestion is to give the small wine glass with their name as a token for visiting. not sure how 3 glasses of wine plus tip turned into $50 in santa fe.... we didn't like any of the wines. food was not good. and slow. and inaccurate. they have a food truck company working the kitchen on the patio. the steak quesadilla was actually hamburger, and i had to go back and ask for the sour cream and avocado that was advertised, because they didn't include it on the plate. the ambiance is nice but not worth the cost. you can go to many high end wine bars downtown and leave with a more reasonable bill, and have a decent non- food truck meal too. read more

Went out with some of the fam for some wines and foods. Super cool place, we skipped the tour and went right down to the cellar, very cool walk down into the room. Once inside you help yourself to a freaking self service wine machine (think fountain drinks but with wine) we ordered some food, everything was incredible! We ordered the.... well to be honest I can't remember the names of things, but basically it was a flatbread pizza with fig, a superb meat and cheese tray, and a bowl of meatballs with sauce and bread.
