The sweet young family that owns and operates this place has a done an amazing job. The chef clearly has his heart and soul in cooking and says he learned most of his art from his grandmother. This punjabi food is fresh, flavorful and the flavors nicely balanced. The garlic naan is the best we recall ever having. The lamb korma and aloo gobbi were excellent, and the fish pakora was really nice and just lightly battered unlike the over battered pakora that we usually encounter elsewhere. We will definitely be back whenever we are in the area. This place is a gem! read more

It looks to be a husband and wife team. A small operation with a little wait on the food. However, it's worth the wait. The garlic naan seems to be made from scratch. It was light and flavorful. Went back... the steam table was nice and steaming! Niit was so nice & pleasant to talk to. Very knowledgeable on food safety. They are getting new sneeze guards soon. They also make fresh brewed tea to order.. like a chai tea.. my favorite so far of all the Indian restaurants I have tried .. not too sweet.. perfect balance of spice and slight sweetness! This review is about their vegan options. The restaurant offers options for most dietary needs, GF included. The food is fantastic and was made vegan. (Be sure to ask for no ghee as well) The portions are very generous! The aroma alone had us drooling but the taste was the clear winner here. Bold and deep flavors with the heat being a lovely companion rather than taking over. Bonus that the dishes were not swimming in oil! The owner / Chef and server is a delightful person and this restaurant is their dream come true. All the ratings and reviews were glowing, and I was excited. The atmosphere was great and the staff (owners?) were friendly. But the first hint that something wasnt right were the $6 sodas. Nowhere in Washington charges that much for soda. And it marked up from $4 - which is still the highest Ive ever seen but at least Ive seen it elsewhere. Soda is cheap, like bread and salad. I ordered my go to for new Indian restaurants - Butter Chicken. I also order Kashmiri Naan and a Chai tea. The naan was served dry - a first in my experience, but not a crime. The tea was served 10 minutes after the meal, which doesnt make sense. They tried to say it was always brewed to order, but that wasnt good kitchen management. But the Butter Chicken was very disappointing. Ive never said this about Indian cuisine before - but it was flavorless. There was a photo on the wall of every Butter Chicken Ive ever had - rish and red tomatoey and sweet and herby and smooth and luxurious. What was served was orange/brown and lumpy and.... The chicken and rice were fine - but it felt like the chef wasnt a fan of Butter Chicken and had never learned to cook it. Maybe it was a regional variation - but the huge wall photo of it was misleading. So overall think they gave some work to do to get me to come back. I can get much more agreeable food and service and prices just down the road in Bellingham without effort. I wish them the best and was struggling with leaving this review, but so many glowing reviews lured me into an uncomfortable position. It was an expensive experiment for me - even without the $6 soda (yeesh) - and I now doubt the legitimacy of the other reviewers or their experience with Indian food. Maybe they're Canadian? Canadians have different flavor expectations than Americans. But I dont know. Work on the recipes and dont gouge people. read more

This is our favorite Indian place in Washington. The owner has put his passion into his cooking, ingredients, surroundings, service and customer satisfaction. He takes the time to explain where he gets the ingredients, how he cooks them and you can taste it. We eat the vegan options such as the Chana Masala,Bhindi Masala. He also has a really interesting beer list that you dont see other places. We need to go back and try some new things. read more

A fantastic Mom and Pop restaurant, the buffet is perfection! Filled with crowd pleasing options: tandoori chicken, chana masala (my favorite!), Aloo gobhi, veggie pakora, dal makhni, chicken makhan, rice, and MANY other options! Plus one I've never had before, chili chicken (which my step-Dad crowned as his favorite!). I wasn't aware that the meal came with naan, so we ordered the garlic naan. I'm glad that we did because the plain naan was good, BUT the garlic naan was even more buttery with plenty of parsley and garlic! Just a soft pillow of deliciousness! I also ordered a chai that came out piping hot, but mellowed throughout the meal and was PERFECT! There's nothing like buttery naan and chai to put you in good spirits! I was very excited to add on some tamarind sauce (the best balance of sweet and sour). For $16.99 it's an INCREDIBLE value to sample their menu and to bring a friend who may not be familiar with Indian food. The spice level was mild for the buffet (except perhaps for the chili chicken... BUT, it's in the name!). Hoping more folks come out to support this Mom and Pop new restaurant. We've been wanting to try this place to compare to Abbotsford and Surrey Indian restaurants and it did not disappoint!!! The food was fantastic! Firstly the service was great. Got to meet the owner Sundeep (Sundy) and she went over the menu and what were her favourites. Her husband, Mitt, is the chef. We had the veg pakoras which were fried perfectly, mostly veg ( potato spinach cauliflower) not mostly batter, super light, and came with a sprinkle of chaat spice on top and two dipping sauces ( the mint one and the sweeter one that usually comes with samosa). The Lahori goat was so savoury with a dark rich sauce. My husband was in heaven. Saag paneer outstanding. Aloo gobi. But the standout for me was the Chili chicken appetizer! Perfectly spiced at a level 4. The naan was also good, we had the usual butter and the peshwari which was better than I've had in the UK! The rice was also the way I like it where every grain is separate and flavoured with cumin seed. Ended with gulab Jamin, IYKYK, which was the only thing not made from scratch, but still pretty tasty. The chef came out mid meal to chat with us and ask how we liked his food. He mentioned to us that his beer, wine and whiskey selections are all from India. We usually get the TajMahal or Kingfisher beer but tonight we tried the Flying Horse Lager. Super refreshing and perfect with the meal. We had leftovers to take home but I'm already planning to go back and try the usual suspects like butter chicken and samosa. A great addition to the Ferndale food scene. read more

Authentic. Amazing service. Owner is very caring and gave samples to customers of their mango lassi. Very interested in the salted lassi in the future. The chili chicken was AMAZING. perfect app. Perfect spice. They rate spicy scale 1-5. We got 3 as it was a new place to try and gauge their levels. It was great but I think next time I will get level 4 as it was semi mild to me. Great presentation and I LOVE that the dishes came with rice or butter naan and you didn't have to add them in as a surcharge!!!! Will be back. Best Indian in Whatcom county for sure. read more

We found our favorite indian food restaurant! Well worth the short trip up from Bellingham. Amazing veg samosas and chicken pakora. Chutneys and sauces were super flavorful. All 4 of us loved our dishes - chicken curry, butter chicken, lamb bhirani, and lamb korma. The spice level was perfect for us and all of the flavors and spices were outstanding. Portions were generous with plenty to take home. We also loved the chai and mango lassi. Didn't try the alcohol menu but maybe next time. It is cool that their beer and wine is all from India. I had the best experience at Haan's with my family! My parents were in town from out of town - we had a long summer adventure day and we were trying to find a late dinner on a Sunday at 8:30 - 8:40. The owner, Miit welcomed us, was very personable when we walked in and was delighted to have us. They made an incredible meal for us! The taste was amazing and authentic, good size portions also. For those not local to the area, it used to be another Indian place: Curry house. However, I believe the previous owner retired and sold the place to the current owner, renovated it, and is once more selling Indian food to the area! I hadn't been to Ferndale for years and I wanted someIIndian, so my mom and I went to the only spot we knew of: which now had a different name. We went in kind of skeptical at first, but that all vanished when we walked through the door and immediately greeted and sat down. Ambient and relaxing environment made it very easy to figure out what I wanted to try, and I was not disappointed in the least! The owner himself is a very nice, welcoming and patient person. It was a long work day and no one had energy to cook. We decided to order delivery from Haan's Tandoor & Bar. The food came pretty quickly and was hot and fresh. We appreciated that it had been packaged nicely and doubled wrapped so there were no spills. We ordered the Lamb Korma, Buttered Chicken, Paneer Tikka, Chicken Malai Tikka and Paneer Pakora with sides of rice and naan. Everything was delicious with authentic nuanced flavors in each dish. The rich sauces and spice were perfect, warm and comforting. The lamb was tender, the chicken tikka was perfectly grilled and seasoned well, and the generous pieces of paneer were dense and firm giving with the perfect bite to them. The naan was soft and warm and we wish we had ordered more of it. We will definitely come and dine in soon. You can tell the dishes were made with love and pride. read more
