Went here the other night because I've historically seen it packed around lunch time, and it was pretty decent, though I'm not sure I ordered the right items. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but the food tastes pretty fresh and is made right in front of you. I have had better, but it's really not too bad here. Chicken Burrito - This was probably the best item - I got it with everything and it was quite filling. Both burritos also came with chips and salsa, which was a nice surprise. It was about $14 though, so not super super cheap, and the meat was juicy and tender but didn't have a ton of flavor. The rice was probably my favorite part of this - it had a very buttery taste. Steak Burrito - This was okay and there was a lot of meat. For some reason, it was packed a lot fuller than the chicken one, so it was even more filling. The meat wasn't super flavorful or tender, but it was decent. Pollo Asado Plate - This wasn't bad, but wasn't outstanding. They cooked the chicken from scratch on the flat top, so it took longer to put this together than both burritos, and the chicken ended up being a little dry. Other than that, the tortillas were nice and the rice was good as well. I feel like I should order the meat plate next time I come here since it looked really good, but it's also more expensive than the other items. I am not sure how much exactly since the prices online didn't match with our receipt total, and the menu above the ordering station didn't have prices. The birria tacos also looked good, but again I wasn't sure how much they cost. I think I'd try it at least one more time though! read more

I ordered tacos and they were completely liquid, my tortillas were soaked in broth and the pork was dry.

We have been a long time consistent customer to Habaneros for at least 3 years now and the food has always been beyond great. But we have come to our tail end. Almost every time we have gone for the past year, they have screwed up something. Either not giving us items we ordered or just screwing up the order all together. But they can't issue a refund because only 1 person speaks English and they will hang up on you. We are probably owed close to $50 at this point. The food has become incredibly salty and tastes like it's cooked with bad oil. Hope Habaneros improves. read more

Omg the nachos are amazingggg!!!!!! Just for that I give this five stars :). On the menu its listed as "plain nachos" - oh no these are no plain nachos imo. Ordered delivery and the food came hot and fresh. All the nacho toppings were very well distributed over the chips - beans, cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream and guac - perfect proportions of everything. The hubs and I kept eating these till they were finished! Besides the awesome nachos we got the chicken taco combo plate, chicken enchilada plate and the vegetarian quesadilla. The plates came with rice, black beans and the enchilada in addition came with salad plus sour cream and guac toppings. All the food was fresh and tasty. If I'm ever around Allston/Brighton, I make sure to stop by Habanero to order tacos to-go, even if I just had lunch or dinner anywhere else, it's a must for me! Besides their amazing tacos, they also have burritos, quesadillas, soups, nachos, and enchiladas on their menu. It's a small hole-in-the-wall joint with a few seats inside to hang out and eat before covid-19. There's only street parking around the area and sometimes it can be hard to find one but it's totally worth it! Beef Tongue Taco- 6" corn tortilla x2, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, pico de gallo, spicy green sauce. My holy grail of tacos! The beef tongue braised to the point where it was so tender and delicious, having one was not enough! I brought a few of my friends who would squirm when they hear the word 'tongue' associated with food. But once they tried it, oh they were hooked! Solid food, don't order through Doordash. I order through her pretty regularly as part of my company's doordash benefits. Really enjoyed the chicken tacos until the doordash prices suddenly jumped by 25%. A taco plate that costs $15 is now $20 through doordash, which is a huge increase. I still order from here because I like them a lot, but if you have the option, just order through their website directly; it's not worth the doordash prices. read more

I ordered a Adobada Burrito ($12.50) on grubhub. The burrito was dense and packed with a lot of food. The rice was flavourful and they put a generous amount of meat in it. Ordered delivery from here (apologies for the less aesthetic photos). I got the chicharron pupusa ($3.75), beef tongue taco ($3.99), and a steak burrito ($12.49). The pupusa came with a generous portion of curtido (pickled cabbage) and a light tomato salsa. The pupusa itself was soft, perfectly seasoned, and not greasy at all. The beef tongue taco had cilantro, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, and salsa. I felt that it was on the smaller side for $4, but the flavors came together well and the meat was super tender. The steak burrito was a hefty portion! Sometimes when I order burritos they get stuffed/rolled in such a way where one end is all salsa and the other end is all rice. However this burrito was not the case. They rolled it in such a way where everything was incorporated evenly. Rather than stuffing the burrito with a bunch of cold shredded cheese, they melted the cheese onto the tortilla, which was awesome. The restaurant also threw in a bag of chips and a small container of salsa for my order. The chips were a little stale and oily. I prefer my salsa on the tangier side but their salsa is more salty than tangy. I'd highly recommend their pupusas and burritos! read more

Discovered this place when I was scrolling through UberEats and craving some Mexican food. Have to say that I'm not disappointed! I usually get the chicken burrito and it's so delicious--very flavorful and filled with cheese, rice, etc. At first, the tortilla was a bit dry and even kind of crunchy but it definitely gets better the more you eat. The food also comes with some chips and salsa and they are the more traditional kind, not the stuff you get at the grocery store. I love how authentic this place is. I'm not an expert in critiquing Mexican food but I would say that Habanero is a pretty solid choice if you're looking for something to satisfy cravings. The meat didn't have too much flavor but for 3.25 a piece with all the toppings these will satisfy your hunger. The nachos are heavy on the toppings and the quesadilla, packed with meat. Our new go-to spot, we drive 45 mins with a 9 month old for it. Truly authentic Mexican. Only a few tables inside but most people who have come in while we've sat down have been taking their food to go, so it's never a problem getting seating. Habanero hooked it up for on Christmas Day - delivered to us despite the blistering rain and cold and on a holiday, so for that, I commend the staff. Let me tell you, the burritos here are fantastic. Meaty, big bois loaded up with rice, beans, and sauces. I think I liked the chicken more than the adobada one but both were excellent. Plus, a burrito comes with chips and salsa! The only disappointment from the meal was that we ordered chicken and steak nachos that were a bit cold when they arrived, so I didn't enjoy them as much as I thought I would. Freakin' finally - delicious burritos, tacos, pupusas, and enchiladas in Boston!!! Those of us who've spent time on the West Coast have struggled to find Mexican taquerias in Boston. Taqueria El Amigo in Waltham is fantastic, but it's farther out in the 'burbs and closed Sundays. Anna's Taqueria is always underwhelming and feels like something's missing (plus Anna's up charges for everything). After reading the reviews, I had to come to Habanero. Absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful food. Everything was fantastic. The staff is so generous, tossing in extra salsas and chips - absolutely reminded me of my favorite taquerias in San Francisco. This is hands down my favorite Mexican place in Boston! It's a tiny hole in the wall so definitely recommend just taking it to go and enjoying at home. I always get the steak burrito with all of the fixings - absolutely huge! The place is very busy with pickup orders. There are a few tables inside but it might not be the best ambience with people coming in and out all the time. Skip the Carne Asada which can get a little dry and bland and go for the beef fajitas they are a flavor bomb and juicy to boot the onions and pepper and marinade make all the difference. The Pupusas are well filled and made to order and the tripe is tasty and chewy. Their huevos rancheros are great for breakfast and they are more homie and typical in general more "authentic" if you will than the taco and burrito places in the neighborhood.
