I was a regular customer here until today. I ordered chips with guacamole as the picture shows, picked up my order and went to work. I had to return back to the restaurant to ask for the guacamole as it was not in my order. At the counter, the lady said its not included and refused to give me a side of guacamole. They stated the price is only for the chips, I showed them my order details and the lady called the store owner over the phone to explain the situation. The owner told me she will reach out to DoorDash to correct this "mistake" but if I wanted guacamole I would have to purchase it separately because she can't afford to sell chips and guacamole for the price THEY had on DoorDash. We come here almost every Friday for what we call "Taco Friday". Our son goes to pre k nearby and on Fridays we take him to Henry Bear and then we eat here. Thankfully we do not go to Henry Bear as often (our back account is thankful) but he is still excited for coming to Boca Grande. Even though he just drinks the lemon water and never partakes in the delicious food. Anyway this is my favorite taqueria. I am a soft chicken taco holic and they seriously make the best soft tacos. The shells , unlike their competitors, never fall apart. Their meat is more flavorful and not so chewy. I just want all the tacos in my belly. My husband gets the chicken burrito and also prefers theirs to competitors. They have a tiny seating area so we've been lucky to always have seating. Their bathrooms are clean and convenient especially for a young kid in tow. They are a coke place ....huzzah. They do serve beer but never had any. Talk about protein options!!! This place has almost a dozen options (or was it more than?) for your protein! I only got to try the chorizo, but it was very flavorful and now I'm excited to give their beef and chicken a try. Okay, back tracking a bit, the place is very clean, quaint, and friendly. They have a limited number of chairs so they always ask if it's for there or to go. This place is about build-your-own meal and everything looked extremely surprisingly fresh. I got a burrito bowl which already came in a to go box so it didn't matter to me, but most of the other options will be served on their actual plates. A burrito bowl with sour cream add on and tomatoes ended up being $10 and for the portion size, I can get two lunches out of it so yes, this place is a good value! I can imagine this place becoming more popular so y'all better get here before the lines begin to form! I was shy asking for more toppings, but maybe next time I'll be more adventurous. I'll start with the good. Clean, staff is friendly, and lots of options. With that being said I found that the food lacked flavor. Nothing was seasoned. I LOVE Mexican food and this did not do it for me or to other people I spoke with. We all said the same thing with our very different orders. No flavor. That's with salt and pepper added and hot sauce as well. The beans are definitely not seasoned nor are the meats. Not even the rice. The first time I visited Boca Grande I learned the hard way that even sour cream costs extra, though they don't say so when offering it to you. I went there for a quick, relatively inexpensive lunch that turned out to cost just as much as anywhere else in Brookline Village. If you're going to almost automatically add sour cream & guac, you should tell your customers that it costs extra. I know, I know, guac always costs extra. But it still seems misleading when I get to the register and expect my meal to ring up as $7.50 and it's nearly $10. Might as well have gone to Cutty's. So being the adaptable human that I am, the next time I came I refused the sour cream & guac. What happened? They overcharged me! $18 instead of $8. Apparently the cashier thought I got a burrito and a salad...I got a Mexican plate. To make matters worse, I misheard her and thought she said $8 so I didn't even realize when she ran my card. Fortunately, she realized the error on her own and caught me before I left. Unfortunately, she refunded me the wrong amount so I still ended up overpaying! I didn't realize it until I had already gotten back to my office and it wasn't worth the $2 to go back and explain the situation. So, call it a sunk cost and I will not be going back again in the future. The food isn't that great anyway - you'll get a better bang for your buck across the street at El Centro. read more

The food was... very mediocre. Usually Mexican food is filled with flavor and authenticity... This tastes like all of the "fresh" ingredients came out of a bag. The ingredients don't look high quality (you know that film on top of refried beans when they've clearly been sitting out all day) and taste to boot. UPDATE: Customer service is a zero, the burritos are mediocre, nothing that exciting. It's food, that's about it. They also have tofu and when they give you things, they give you the smallest amount and any more is extra. Really annoying. I'm not sure why this place has such mediocre reviews, I think this place is some of the better Mexican food in Boston. They deliver all the out to south Boston, which is probably why it takes so long to arrive, but none the less, I still think the food is really great! I don't know why I keep eating at this place. I suppose it benefits from the mediocrity of all other cheap dinner places in Brookline Village. They do have a long list of proteins, which is good because that is nearly all the flavor you'll get on your burrito. Here are the ingredients in my burrito bowl: rice (bland), carnitas verde (yum!), pinto beans (flavorless), tomatoes (not salsa, mind you, just tomatoes), and an extremely skimpy sprinkle of cheese I had to request. Don't forget that, confusingly, small burritos don't come with cheese! Why are size and ingredient choice conflated? Who knows? Anyway, this place is fine. It won't kill you or bankrupt you. As a neighborhood resident, terrible cook, and inveterate lazy ass, I have a vested interest in this place being successful. I was thrilled when Boca Grande came to the neighborhood. Having previously lived around the corner from an Anna's Taqueria, burritos have been a mainstay of my diet for several years now (not proud, just sayin) and I'm happy that they are once again. I always considered Boca Grande the ugly stepsister of Anna's, but I was wrong - it's Anna. I've had a burrito at least once a week from BG since their opening and the service is pleasant, food is fresh, and the price is right. The burritos are ginormous and fillings are perfectly distributed so you're not getting random bites of just beans or risking permanent damage from a mouthful of hot sauce. They take some care in their burrito assembly, which is very much appreciated. Yeah, it's extra for guac, but what are you gonna do? Same deal at Chipotle... I can't understand why this place isn't more crowded....? Where are all the college kids that are overrunning every other establishment in town? I feel like the word isn't out yet on this place, maybe due to lack of advertising. My hope is that they are super-successful because Brookline Village needs more food options. Go do your duty and support this place by scarfing down a carnitas burrito and add some guac - you're worth it. read more

I decided to come here since it is right around the corner of where I work, and I didn't want to constantly order from grubhub to get Anna's Taqueria. I ordered a rice bowl here with chicken and steak - no regrets! One of the best burrito bowls I've ever had. Ingredients were super fresh and the meat had a lot of flavor. I also love that the steak was not too spicy compared to other restaurants. Portions are pretty generous and will last me two days of lunch for one order (but then again, I don't eat much). The only down fall is that they don't give you a lot of sour cream or guac, even though you are paying extra :/ I highly recommend getting their chips because it really really good, especially when you eat it with the burrito bowl. I pay around $10, so that is pretty average. Not too bad! Good enough for a restaurant that is super convenient from work and does not waste too much of my lunch time just to order. read more

This just opened int he old Baja Betty's location and I'm very glad it did. :) I've been twice, got the Burrito bowl both times with barbacoa. Added other toppings as well. food is fresh, flavorful, and packs a little heat - not much, but considerably more than Baja's did, which is fine with me. Service is quick and friendly, and the portion size is quite good. Easily two lunches worth, although the second time I went I finished the whole thing because I have no shame. (Also it was a late lunch/early dinner before several hours at the MFA checking out the Matisse exhibit.) I was looking for a basic quesadilla, the staff asked me if I want sour cream and guacamole on my quesadilla without telling me it would cost more, I usually get sour cream and guacamole on my quesadilla free of charge if you don't ask for extra sour cream and extra quesadilla! They charged me for $9.68 without telling me the final price. The quesadilla originally costs $7.65. They charged me extra $2 without even telling me. I asked for a refund, they argued with me. Finally they gave me back $1.49 in cash. I give 2 stars because I love Mexican food too much. Otherwise it would be 1 star. read more

Perfectly acceptable burrito joint in Brookline Village in the former Baja Betty's location. Not much in the way of personality or anything that sets it apart, but the food is fresh and pretty good and the space clean. Prices are on the high side. What angered me about my experience here is that when I asked for a cup for water for my young son along with my 2 burrito order, I was told no and that I would have to buy their Nestles bottled water. Anyone who has done any amount of research on bottled water options knows that this is the worst kind of bottled water and it's loaded with chemicals and sugars. Very lame policy that will prevent me from coming back here. Frankly, Los Amigos in Coolidge Corner is far better anyway. read more
