Cooks behind the counter are preparing food without wearing gloves. Also touching trash and dirty screens while holding bread and other food they are serving. You would have never guess how poorly the food is being prepared by how busy it can get. Also ordered from the kiosk in the lobby and when it came to the tip option I added no tip. Then after it gave me a total of $17 I tap the screen to pay and ended up being charge $22 for a burger and drink. This is the habit not the staples center so I don't know why I'm being charged stadium food prices while being charged a tip that I clearly removed. Customer service was not good and when my food was ready they just left it out and proceeded to call out to others that ordered their food after me. So we went there the other day for lunch and I love the habit, and like many other establishments they have cut back on their employee account and would prefer that we the customer order on a board and do all that which I just don't like. The server that day was all by herself I believe her name was.Kaeuna. Just the short time we were there. This is how amazing she was. She probably handled six people in a line 6 people waiting to pick up food and a couple of Uber eats or whatever all by herself with a smile and when she called my name to pick up the food because they had run out of their little buzzers that tell you, your food is ready. Although my wife loved her burger. We will not be coming back here again. They can't serve food hot and they can't serve food. That's tasty then it's wasted time. Very disappointed! I have long enjoyed burgers from Habit. I just received a Postmates order for a plain cheeseburger and fries. The bun was rock hard and burger was burned to a crisp, it looked like onions were on there and the cheese was pulled off to get rid of the onions before it was wrapped, so no cheese on the plain cheeseburger. I have a sweet spot in my heart for the Habit. Being raised in Goleta was my privilege, and those who were lucky enough to grow up in this little bubble will have fond memories of the original "Old Habit" which is where it all started. Shortly after I moved to San Diego the bothers who built up of this restaurant, Brent and Bruce dropped the "Old" from the name and the rest is history. The explosive growth of Habit burger franchises makes me so happy and I feel like I am a part of the history. Back in the day they offered combo meals and even served beer of tap at the original location, which is so special that Brent and Bruce own those separate of the franchise to this day. The menu has changed, the Habit now offering line caught tuna instead of canned tuna, fresh salads and a variety of sides. Sandwiches can be wrapped in a multitude of buns or even lettuce to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. I have been to this location several times and always enjoy my meal. There was a little snafu last night and we ordered onion rings, sweet potato and traditional fries and they were undercooked. My tuna sandwich came a little overcooked with some tartar sauce that I did not order but I was able to eat most of it. Next time I will probably call it in instead of using the app so that I can ask for the fish rare and explicitly to avoid tartar sauce or pickles of any kind. Another cool thing about The Habit is the seasonal offerings on the menu, my favorite sides are the friend jalapeños and zucchini and I look forward to their return to the menu.
