Unfortunately, I have to leave a poor review for Habitat for Humanity as much as I love the cars love what they do... The store is overpriced. I can get cheaper on OfferUp. I mean, they do have a huge selection of a lot of things and for some homeowners that have a bigger homes and more estate type homes there's a better selection because there's things that would not fit in like an apartment or a condo, but I have found that they are asking a lot of money for things that I could find for less that's my biggest problem because they're supposed to be a Habitat for Humanity. But the service was great. I was greeted warmly and I think I bought. I don't know something for the kitchen and service is quick easy and painless, but I was a little disappointed in the pricing. read more

I gotta say Habitat for Humanity Restore is a GEM. Many locations all over SoCal. This one particular location is IMO one of the best. Prices seem fair. They have their SHOPLARESTORE.ORG site that I go on daily to see what they have in stock. I have furnished my home with the help of Habitat for Humanity Restores for years. From the Temecula location,to the ones in the OC, Bellflower, Torrance and of course the La Brea location. They have high end furniture at an affordable cost. Home goods like cookware, toys, appliances, decor and much more. I once purchased two walnut chairs made by JoyBird for 600 that ranged around $1000 each. Brand new in perfect condition. Just yesterday I noticed they were posting on their social media that they have plenty of toys. Considering it's the holiday season and Christmas is around the corner. I figured let me stop in and see what I can find. Great deals I tell you, saved atleast 20-30 dollars just by getting toys from here vs the big department stores. Honestly this is an amazing choice for those who are willing to find something that falls within their budget. Just know they won't offer shipping, they refer third party delivery drivers that charge a fee. Some ranging from 200-250. So come prepared. Service isn't the greatest at times either. Certain people almost don't want to help you, which I find very disappointing considering if you purchase an item, hence the chairs I mentioned above. They were left in the show room for about an hour after I had asked numerous times for them to be moved to the back till my truck arrived. Yes people kept sitting on them, touching them. Risking damage. So for that be prepared, bring a truck, or have one on standby. At a certain point I just took them outside and waited. Also they don't help you load your purchased items either. Once it's bought it's your responsibility to load and to get it out in time. There is no buy and pick up tomorrow option either. You must remove your item day of or like I said people are going to put their sticky paws all over the items you purchased and risk damage. Last if you come in to purchase small goods, grab a shopping cart, the employees don't care to watch your items. Meaning the answer is no you cannot leave anything upfront for you to either look around or if need to go back out to grab a cart. So just be ready for this form of service. Everything mentioned above revolves around this location. As discussed above, you can find some good stuff here. I need to come here when I actually have room for furniture. In the meantime I scored two stools for ten bucks a pop so any friends I have can sit somewhere besides my mattress when they come over. Also scored a pink construction hat for five bucks because why not. I have some household maintenance that needs to be done and why not look silly while I'm doing it. Finally got a two dollar dog toy. Anything new here is overstock from stores and includes anything from paint to shoes to dog collars to floor cleaner. Otherwise they just take, and often restore, used furniture. No clothes donations here. Surprisingly didn't find a coffee maker but they do have furniture aplenty, some of which is a few hundred bucks due to labor spent restoring it. So not everything here is dirt cheap, it just goes to a good cause. read more

Interestingly, a friend of mine was helping us and discovered he and Jeff are old friends. Plenty of staff hanging around to help you prices are incredibly affordable. They're almost giving some of the stuff away. Found a decent looking couch for $50 bucks. read more

So I have all the furniture donations on my patio and this delivery individual is quite unprofessional, and this type of conduct is not a good representation and reflection of the work you are trying to do in our communities. He wouldn't work with me at all. I frequently donate and I've never had this type of experience. I am trying to make a donation and this Max drove away. My review is of a character at the store by the name of Rudy. He is a store manager there; however, they have many other great professional managers at this location. Rudy was rude, belligerent, and unprofessional, particularly for a retail manager at a retail establishment. In my experience, he has consistently been unprofessional, not just to me but to others as well, since he has been stationed at this location. I have been a Business customer since this location opened in my neighborhood, and have always had great experiences there for years until he arrived. Other customers have told me that he is rude to them also, and it feels racial in tone unless the patriot is Hispanic, speaking, in my opinion and observations. When he is there, I literally turn around and leave shopping I want to greatly avoid him. I have complained to his supervisor multiple times of the two negative experiences I've had with him directly. I would advise anyone else who has experienced this with Rudy to please notify the company if they experience the same thing with this guy. Our experience was horrific and unpleasant. I was originally was not going to write a review as it is not to criticize the store. It is simply because others need to be made aware and know that he should not get away with this you should let his superior hear from you if you experience the same. It seems mainly influenced by furniture damage or lack thereof rather than designer or manufacturer, which is rare for an LA thrift! This location is the epitome of friendly, solid, professional service. There's almost always someone on register. There's always someone happy to help. If you want to put something on hold, they write you a slip and they'll keep it for an hour. If you buy something large, they give you recommendations for truck rentals. So much to choose from at this Habitat for Humanity store on our way to the Grove! Rolls of artificial turf - great for a photo backdrop for your special occasion or wall - $55! Brand new pillows 2 for $5. Dual manual brown leather recliner $400. Another sofa $125. A brand new - was it even used? - blue sofa $200. Don't go quoting me on any of these prices. Y'all know as soon as you get there these pieces will be gone! Notice the dates above the prices on the orange tags in the pictures - all just arrived within days so you know things move fast here. So many other things and check to see what the specials of the day are - something's always on sale here! Nice pieces to pick from - reasonably priced - great place to treasure hunt for home staging, or DIY on a budget! Not a lot of junk or unusable stuff here. Aisles and walkways are clear and shelves are sorted and free of piles. A sure sign to me that a lot of care and pride is taken with this team. You will most likely find quality pieces when a store is this tidy! A line out the door when we left and only one person at the register but it didn't appear chaotic. Employees were happy to help and customers smiling and laughing always send out good vibes. Jeff was great about helping me get a side table out of my car to donate. Thank you Jeff! I have been here many times and each time, there are new interesting items! Staff here is always helpful and friendly. They are super helpful loading furniture or other items into your vehicle. I think the staff at stores like Lowe's and Home Depot should get some training from the staff at Habitat for Humanity store! The main drawback- it's very tempting to bring home a cool product for your house only for your spouse to say "we have no room for that, return it now!!" And they don't accept returns. Now you're left with an annoyed spouse for a length of time, which will depend upon how big said item was and how forgiving they are! read more

This review is for a pandemic pickup. I was able to make a pickup appointment without too much lead time. Yes, they're still picking up during COVID, which is great. Just know that they only pickup furniture and housing accessories. No housewares, clothes, or books. You enter everything via their website, which is easy to use. They say $15 donation for fuel. You can choose whether you want to leave and envelope, pay on the website, or skip it. It's a donation, even though they push it on the website and the driver reminds you on the pre-pickup call. Let's be real, donations for fuel are optional, despite the pressure. Do what you see fit and right. They call you 30 minutes before they arrive. It's contactless and they email you the pickup donation receipt. I took one star because of the fuel donation pressure -- just didn't like that approach (even though we support the cause). And for the fact that they seemed to initially question each other about whether they would take the deck (yes they did ultimately take it Andrea, it was within their posted specifications online). Final Word: Good experience and will use them again if we have 2 or more furniture items. read more

This is a great place to shop for furniture and sometimes odd new donated stuff they get in, like building and cleaning supplies. It's a huge warehouse, so if you visit often, you'll eventually find what you need or something similar. Friendly and helpful, and with delivery. Be sure to call before you bring something for donation - even if you bought it there - as they don't always take some bigger items (desks and tables) even if they're in good condition, which can be a waste of driving and good intentions.
