The selection of items at the Rockville showroom is vast. There are lots and lots of pieces to test out and look at. Everything I saw was very high end and the prices were good (not cheap but I do not expect cheap prices for furniture). Alex, the sales person, was great. He has worked for Hamiltons for over 20 years and it shows. Alex is knowledgeable, helpful and provides just the right amount of attention. He was there when we had questions and not there when we were testing out the furniture for comfort and deciding which style we liked best. He kept checking in every so often. Alex's personality is pleasant and he is not pushy at all. In short, he was great. Hamiltons should be very proud of him. The other sales associate was also very friendly and smart too. However, we did not work with her very much. She did bring us water when we looked like we were ready to fall asleep. Like Alex, she was right there when we needed her. We recently moved into a new home in Kensington (our 8th home across 4 states). Despite being experienced home buyers, outfitting a new home with furniture is still tough & stressful...especially in a new area. After visiting many furniture stores in the area, we decided to visit Hamilton's. We were looking for seating for our A/V room. Brad was our salesperson...super helpful, patient and no annoying salesmanship. After noticing some "fit and finish" issues with the couch soon after delivery, Hamiltons management (Alex, Ashley) couldn't have been more helpful. They are a local, family-owned company and their candor and demeanor were very supportive. They quickly worked on a solution and gave me a couple options. Since this was a stock item, they opened another sectional, confirmed it was up to "factory specifications" and delivered it the following day! I couldn't have asked for more. Important to note the delivery folks were all very professional and efficient. I will definitely be doing more business with them. Highly recommend! If you are looking for a leather sofa that has the reclining feature, look no further. Hamilton's Sofa Gallery has the best variety in the area. I looked at 7 different furniture stores in my quest for the perfect sofa. No one has a better variety of sofas than Hamilton's. There are so many choices: do you want all leather or leather match? Do you want all three sections to recline or only two? Do you want the seat to recline back or inside, so there is no problem, if it is set against a wall? I had a lot of decisions to make and truthfully, I went back and forth on a few. I want to thank my salesperson, Nancy, she was helpful, supportive, and had great ideas. I even took a leather swatch home to see if I liked the color or not? It does take 3-4 months if you special order your sofa. Yes, I am going to wait! The price is not cheap, but given the quality and the fact that my sofa is all leather, I am happy with the price. The showroom is large and well decorated. I had a terrible delivery experience and it was ridiculously difficult to correct. Between Hamilton and the delivery company, neither were very communicative. The customer service was horrible and the company is very defensive. Another recent reviewer had a negative experience with their delivery and the business owner's responsive is very similar in tone... not our fault, you're the problem! I am a Costco member and purchased my other leather sofa there for about half the price and extremely happy with the quality and no delivery issues. read more

My husband and I saw couches in a million furniture stores in DC and also LaZ Boy down the street from Hamiltons. We thought something was wrong with us because we hated all the couches. Until we came to Hamiltons. We asked Heidi for a sleeper sofa. She showed us what they had. We sat in one and instantly fell in love. Their Stressless recliners are also super comfortable. They adjust to each individual's angles and limb lengths when you sit down. I'm 5'2", so most recliners are too deep for me to have back support or my feet touch the ground. My 5'10" husband and I both found the medium Stressless perfect. In our opinion the Hamiltons difference is that their stock is for comfort and durability first, appearance second but it doesn't look bad at all, it just doesn't prioritize aesthetics over usability. Other furniture stores' couches look like they're for looking at more than for a family to sit in. Not so with Hamiltons. I have purchased twice from this store. My first purchase is over 20 years old and still in Excellent condition.. The most recent purchase was two Pallister leather sofas. I researched this brand and found excellent comments. My experience with this brand is abysmal. In less than one year with only two people in home poor wear. Their high Resiliency foam, gets translated into large dents wherever you sit that has no reasonable timeframe to return to form. Buyer beware stay away from this brand. We were looking for a durable sofa for our family room , We got a poor quality piece. Leather is nice but underlying foam is not. I waiting for warranty repair but don't know how this will work. BOTTOM LINE: Don't buy Pallister. Hamilton is a reasonable store for other brands without going to Virginia. read more

We ordered a sofa in May. Was told it would take four months. It actually took seven. Arrived today and delivery men strong-armed me into paying them $100 to remove old couch. I had asked at time of purchase and was told delivery fee included removal. I called the store and was told that no, in fact, it is customary to pay for removal. The person on the phone could have cared less about how long we had to wait for the couch or about the behavior of their delivery people. I will not be giving them any more of my money. read more

Nancy at Hamiltons told me my furniture would be delivered within two to three weeks of purchase. But the Rockville store's interest in my purchase faded rapidly as soon as they had my money. When, after three weeks, I complained I didn't have the furniture, Nancy's colleague told me they have no responsibility for on time delivery. On the fifth week after my purchase, their delivery guy, Marcelo, called to tell me he couldn't live up to his promise to bring the furniture because it was raining. Raining?! When I questioned him about this preposterous excuse, he acknowledged that he had decided to make a different delivery. I had rearranged my schedule to receive the stuff, but that wasn't his concern. We recently moved to a high rise condominium in Chevy Chase. We already own a Stressless recliner and wanted to purchase a two seat and a three seat sofa. We contacted Hamilton's in Rockville. Brad was very helpful and we made an appointment to meet him an hour before the store opened to minimize social contact. We asked if the store offered help with design. He recommended Lisa Stevenson. Lisa came to our home and saw the combined living room, dining room, kitchen floor plan. She helped us to narrow down our purchasing options to two styles. Moreover, she aided in selection of colors to meld the three component sections into a coherent whole. We were very pleased with Lisa's approach, patience and knowledge. After our home visit, Lisa went to the showroom and chose colors for the furniture as well as made suggestions for a rug. We visited the showroom the next morning. We evaluated Lisa's options and chose a model based upon its ergonomic fit. In all of this Brad was extremely helpful and informative. Lisa made herself available by text to answer additional design questions. Together, Brad and Lisa make a great team. They had complimentary expertise and together enabled us to make a wonderful selection that blends comfort, function and beauty for our new home. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AND EXTREMELY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! We got here at 5:30 on a Sunday and it said it closes at 6. We drove all the way from an 1.5 hours away and they had closed the door. We kept requesting to open the door as there were still 30minutes before closing time and plenty of customers inside. As soon as we requested to get in we were treated really badly with a guy who opened the door. Extremely bad customer service. Wasn't willing to answer any questions and just wanted us to leave. We wanted to purchase a couch but were extremely disappointed with really bad customer service. We were told that we close 30 minutes early like Macy's does, which we haven't experienced. We asked to speak to a manager and were talked to very rudely. Extremely disappointed and would highly advice going to this furniture store and dealing with extremely rude people. read more

My fiancée and I had a great experience buying a new sofa here! When we first walked in, we almost left immediately because at first glance, everything looked too expensive. An employee caught us and showed us around, pointing out all of the items that were within our budget. He didn't try to oversell us at all. Was very attentive in helping us choose what we wanted, answering our questions (and we had quite a few of them), and giving us space to think/talk ourselves. Although they have a wide selection and range of prices, let's be clear: this place is more expensive than Bob's Discount Furniture, Ikea, World Market, etc. The salesman was quite upfront about this and explained the reasons for differences in price, quality, warranty, and durability. If you're looking for very inexpensive chairs/sofas (i.e. under $400 or so), they don't have that here. However, for no additional cost, we got to: choose our fabric/color/pattern, order 2 pillows (customizable as well), and have it delivered to DC and set it up in our apartment. The couch actually was ready several weeks in advance and we love it. We'll definitely be coming back for a chair soon. read more

Love my furniture but have been waiting for months for 2 replacement pillows and the cushions to the sectional we bought and paid high dollar for do not fit the sofa. We have been waiting for months for the replacements cushions and I keep on getting the run around from customer service and the amount of time that i am putting into try to get answers is not worth the money that I have spent. I went in on a Tuesday night and there was one person working there who was on the phone. I walked around for 15 minutes and she looked up to say hi and then continued on her personal call. I had a lot of questions about a couch but got no answers. I do know that the sales associate had big plans for the weekend and what she's planning to wear as her conversation could be heard through out the store. Another couple walked in while I was there and looked around, no greeting and promptly walked out. I decided to give the store another shot due to the great reviews on Yelp. Went in two nights later, same sales associate on the phone again. I took another look around, this time I didn't even get a greeting. She was on the phone the entire time so I left. They told us delivery in 6-8 weeks and we received them at 8 weeks exactly with the help of Alex who I believe is also at the Chantilly location. Ordered a lovely custom sofa; 2 pc sectional. 1st delivery was 2 weeks late and came with a wrong piece. Was told it would take another 6 weeks for manufacturer to make the correct piece. Called 3 months later to inquire. Took another 3 weeks to schedule delivery. Came with wrong piece AGAIN! It is very clear on the order sheet what I ordered. Not sure where the mistake lies; store or factory, but either way, I'm not happy and will NOT shop here again. Still waiting for correct piece.....Just tried calling the store which was supposed to open at 10:00 am. Finally someone answered at 10:30. Longer version: You know, when you walk into a furniture and you feel like somebody just poured a bucket of chum on your head and the sales folks are the sharks, constantly circling, hovering, Can-I-Help-You-With-Anything? We were acknowledged when we entered but then left in peace to try various sofas, measure them etc. When we were narrowing down our selections and needed help, Lisa immediately came to our rescue and then spent the better part of the next 2 hours with us as we winnowed down our selection to the Right One. I haven't used the credit yet but plan on using it soon. I think he made every effort to correct the problem I had with the delivery warehouse for my new sofas. I am still enjoying my new furniture. Stay away! This is not a firm you want to deal with under any circumstance. They were pleasant enough when I was buying in August, but as of December, I have not received the couch. There has been a repeated ridiculous runaround from customer service about the "couch being on a truck". In the meantime - they have all of my money, and I have nothing. If they do not return my money, I will report them to the Better Business Bureau and take them to Small Claims Court. Be forewarned about this awful business. read more

We made much better decisions about which size and shape to buy with her help. The wife and I were in the market for a sofa set for our new home and wandered into Hamiltons. There was no customers in the store and when we entered, the salesman or manager saw us and just ignored us. Only till we got within 3 feet from him did he even acknowledged our presences. It was ether he hated Asians or he was judging us by our shorts and ts. We were interest in a sofa set but was just so turn off by this ignorant salesman, so we just left. I did not purchase from Hamitons, but went to the store to shop for a sofa because their website says that custom orders can be completed in 30 days. We were interested in 3 sofas... one would take 6-8 weeks, another 8-12 weeks, and the third was a whopping 5-6 months. I know that this is the case at many furniture stores, but they should not falsely advertise a timeframe that they can't meet. Additionally, the staff were very inattentive. We were the only customers in the store, and there were three salespeople on the floor. We went to say goodbye to the person we worked with, and possibly get a card, but she was sitting on one of the sofas texting. read more

Horrible customer service! I called with questions about the sofa I was considering, featured on their website. The man would have had to try quite hard to be anymore rude. Question 1: What are the exact dimensions of the sofa? (the website only had three) He responded with the length. Since he gave no other dimensions, I said, What is the seat length? He exhaled audibly and said 71". Question 3: Are the seatback pillows loose or attached? He said, "I think they are attached" Question 4: What is the price? He said, "It's tough to give the price over the phone because there are so many fabric choices." I replied, "I understand." Question 5: What is the range of prices? He said, "$999 is the lowest amount".....I said, What is the higher end of the range? He exhaled audibly and sucked his teeth. I said, "Sorry, am I causing you difficulty by asking these questions?"
