No One responded to a hospitalized Veteran's home repairs & immediate health care needs. I made several email & telephone requests. I even reached out via their social media sites. Although his health has improved somewhat the home repairs continue to be in dire need for wellbeing. This is concerning for the other residents. read more

The seed for Habitat for Humanity was planted at a community farm outside of Americus, Georgia by farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan. Jordan along with Habitat founders Millard and Linda Fuller developed the concept of partnership housing. Those in need of shelter would work side by side with volunteers to build affordable homes at no profit. House payments would be combined with no interest loans provided by supporters which would then be used to build more homes. In 1973, the Fullers took their house building concept to Zaire where they worked for three years. When they returned to the United States they founded Habitat for Humanity International in 1976. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn became involved and raised awareness. Habitat is now in all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. They have helped 29 million to be able to afford safe shelter. In 1991 Habitat for Humanity launched the concept of the ReStore in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1992 the first Habitat for Humanity restore opened in the U.S. in Austin Texas. The ReStores accept donations from the community and home improvement stores and then resells the items to the public at a discounted price. The profit from the ReStore supports the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. I discovered this Habitat for Humanity Restore around the corner from where I had lunch. Compared to other restores I have visited, this store was cleaner, neater, and had more items. Several rooms were filled with furniture, clothing, accessories, home goods, decorative items, large and small appliances, toys, lamps, books, baskets, and linens. I was tempted by a $6 instant pot. On the day I visited they were having an additional 20 percent off pink tags. This is a great store to thrift, especially if you are setting up your first home. I found this wonderful store when I moved here last March with only 2 chairs and one bedroom set. Over the next year, I filled in all the empty spaces in my home by shopping at Habitat in Jupiter, from couches to a dining set, night stands, a computer workstation, kitchenware, yard tools...the list goes on. But the most important aspect of this store is the people who work here. Everyone is absolutely wonderful, kind, helpful...I know everyones first name and they know mine, it trylu feels like walking into "Cheers". A huge shoutout to Emily, Kim, Nicole, Mario. Because this store doesn't say, "Restore" in it's name, it can easily be overlooked when searching. I was Saturday thrifting to Habitat stores along 95. Went to 3 and this one proved to have had the best stuff and had a 30% off that day. Browsing was a breeze. I found some pretty bowls and plates that caught my eyes. I first thought they were Kate Spade because of the dots, but, they were by Nicole Miller. With the discount they were about $1 per piece. I can use them as candy dishes, paper clips holders or dessert servers. Since the money is going towards home building for families, it purchase had a dual purpose. I will soon be donating some items from home to my local Habitat store. Sometimes, it's a hassle to try to sell items online, especially during Pandemic. Take time to browse and have a plan for the day. You'll never know what you'd find. read more

To the fantastic staff and volunteers at the Jupiter Thrift Store. I am Harry Drier, a director of the Club 100 Charities. For 15 years we have been providing food and clothing to thousands of under resourced individuals and families. Weekly, we distribute over 1,500 clothes items free. We have been able to do this given the wonderful and huge support of the Jupiter store. You have provided thousands of clothes items weekly, and we coiuldn't do what we do without your help. Were at a point where we are now overloaded with clothes coming in weekly and do not have the ability to manage ifs sorting and packaging for redistribution. We request that the Club NO LONGER pick up clothes from your store. We are sure there are many other operating charities that can use your help. I love thrifting. I love the idea of buying second hand and helping out charities like Habitat for Humanity. However, this particular location is fishy. They're prices are notoriously high. The other weird part is that it has the feeling as if some shady antique dealer gets a look at everything before it makes it to the sales floor. I hope this location gets new management. read more

This used to be a great shop as far as prices were concerned. It is ridiculously over-priced for used items, be it golf balls or furniture. It's laughable. Isn't the reason for a thrift is to move in merchandise and move out merchandise? That can be done when the price is right for the used item. It's laughable, not to mention the disorganization of the over priced furniture. Who in their right mind would pay $400 and up for a used sofa? Go to Rooms to Go or Ikea. Get new for less. read more

I shop at other Habitat stores w/o issues, THIS particular store is unfriendly, over-priced and downright hostile to customers! Last time I was in I selected an item from a 1/2 price shelf and when I went to pay, was told it was not half price. I tried to reason with the manager and got major attitude. This is NOT a thrift store. Habitat is the most OVER PRICED second hand store ever! If you don't mind paying MORE than retail for used merchandise, then you should love it here. Furniture that should be priced in the $50-100 price range is anywhere from $300 on up. I have seen lower prices in this areas finer furniture consignment shops. Used comforter? How about $70? Pillow shams, used? 20 bucks. Men's bathing trunks? Used. $12. Whaat? Just not worth a visit. read more
