I usually take my car to the Honda dealership for service but this time, their assessment of the problem plus having had to replace two batteries that I probably didn't need replacing, and an estimated minimum $1200 plus cost, I took it to Curtis for a second opinion. Curtis researched the problem, and found out the factory part had a history of problems that would indicate a simple battery fix and then later a major component fix at a very high cost. Curtis fixed my car, labor and parts prices were very reasonable and definitely way below the dealership estimates.I have had no more problems with that part. Small "Mom N Pop" personalized service, but state of the art results. So often repair facilities simply plug a computer into your car and start to replace parts instead of interpreting the data. That will not happen here. One of the best things is that you are not talking to a service advisor who then talks to a mechanic and relays the information. Here you speak to the technician/owner who will tell you not what you want to hear, but what you need to know. Sometimes you are paying to educate a mechanic. Here you pay for knowledge....there is a BIG difference folks. I have known the Haby family and Curtis for 30 plus years. As long as I've known Curtis he's penned, operated, and done the work at his shop. This man is a true mechanic. His knowledge is 5 Star, he's extremely honest. He will spend way more time ensuring the correct repairs are done, and done correctly! I drive a 2001 Lincoln Continental. I knew I had a couple of mechanical issues with the car, one of which a repair shop in my home town could not diagnose. While on a visit to the San Antonio area I asked Mr Haby his opinion. After about 1/2 hour he diagnosed and fixed the problem for less than the local shop charged for trying to figure out the problem. He also showed me, free of charge, how to fix the other problems I knew about. On the trip home to Spring, I got 25 miles per gallon with an 8 cylinder engine driving 70 mph. I've been to Mr Haby on several occasions. He's a straight shooter and honest. I'm pretty familiar with how vehicles work and I usually know what needs repair before it's dropped off and not once have I been up-sold on anything that wasn't absolutely needed.
