I had a mobile friend-of-a-friend mechanic tell me my truck engine was done for. Wanted to get a second opinion and after a recommendation and thorough Yelp search I went with Thrash. Been there doing auto repairs since 1958 apparently. They did a thorough inspection, told me exactly what happened with my crank shaft bearing and the damage it caused when it got loose/wore out, my truck basically went from mild engine knocking noise to about dead in a few days. Anyways, Thrash took apart a lot of stuff to get to the real problem and only charged me 30 bucks for all their effort. When I get my next vehicle, I am only coming here for any work. The reverse went out in my 2001 Ford Excursion. I took it to Thrash Automotive because of all of the great reviews and the fact that a local classic car restorer referred me to them for this issue. Thrash advised me of 3 available options that would get my truck back on the road and took the time to fully explain the pros and cons of each option with the price for each. Here is a review of an auto repair shop that may be helpful for the YELP community. Thrash Automotive is a small business, that has served members of our family for at least 45 years. The repair shop has passed from the original owner, to the present owner Mike and son Wayne. This is not a shop of shiny, high end finish. The building has been in service for at least 5 decades...and it is your basic neighborhood shop. But what is in the bones of the business is a well deserved reputation for honest and reliable repair service, and in my experience, have satisfied requested repairs, without the dread service up charges that other repair shops (and even dealerships) are known to engage. I think the reader will find their fees to be most reasonable, and their work is completed in a timely manner. So, if the reader is looking to avoid the dodgy repair shop, visit Thrash Automotive. We took our van to Thrash Automotive based on some google reviews. We needed a place close to our vrbo while we were in San Antonio on vacation. We were limited to places within walking distance since we only had one vehicle with us. Our brakes decided to go out while we were on vacation, and we knew we shouldn't drive home until they were repaired. Thrash squeezed us in the next morning after we called. We were worried about cost while on our trip, but he was able to save our rotors and only replace what was required. They seemed to be very honest. We got our van back that afternoon, and everything is in working order. We are very thankful to find a good place close by. read more

I've been coming to Thrash since 1976, I've never been disappointed in anything they have done and they have been able to fix some monumental problems that either I as a teenager or my own kids have caused. Mike and Wayne are very professional and always helpful even if it's just a call for some advice. This is the place to go folks! Without splitting hairs on all the details - I needed to have my starter button fixed on my '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee. (A dealership quoted me between 800-900, and would not ever call me back to coordinate an appointment. And that chain place that starts with an F said it would be around 550-600, but were kind of rude to me. So, I said no thank you!) Fortunately, I found Thrash Automotive and they were able to quickly take care of my issue for about 200. Apparently, they understand the lifetime value of a customer, and from now on, I will never take our vehicles anywhere else. Please do yourself a favor and start with Thrash before you try any other place. Mike and Wayne will make sure that you are treated very well, and they will more than earn your repeat business. This is the worst kind of business. I'm not sure if the drive shaft shop and the automotive shop are the same business but here it goes, since they share a building and the business name. I dropped off two drive shafts to be made into one. They told me it might be that day or by the latest two days from then before they were finished. Three weeks and two phone calls later, still no drive shaft. I finally went to the shop to see what the hold up was, as this was not a part for a hobby car but for my daughters daily driver. I see one of my drive shafts on the shelf and was informed that they didn't know where the other one was. I was confused as they were not even concerned about the missing part. I had bought the other one from the junkyard so that I knew i had the correct yoke that needed to be welded to my current drive shaft to mate up with the new transfer gearbox. Obviously, this was my problem alone. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I gave them until today to find the lost shaft and finish the job. Unannounced, I showed up at the shop to get my drive shaft whether it was done or not. I was at the end of my rope. Relieved, I saw my shaft sitting on the shelf with a freshly welded end and a new yoke. He then informed me that he was going to have to charge me for the yoke because he furnished it. In which replied, "where is the one that I brought you with this one"? So, he waved that fee. (seriously?) Then he asked if I had the caps for the rear U-joints, in which I pointed to the now ripped tape that was holding them on when I brought them to him. Of course, he put a new one on and charged me $25 for it. Naturally, I had to pay for a part that was only about a year old, and this shop lost them. I then asked, to make sure, that the drive shaft had been balanced. Picture this.. he informed me "that it looked good on the lathe so he felt that it didn't need balancing". Are you kidding me??????? Wait for it though because I'm about to put the icing on the cake. I was just happy to have my part back as I could at least move forward with the job, as I have another car waiting in line for this one to be finished. I go home, a little skeptical, because the freshly welded end was too clean for a junk yard part that I had originally brought them. I tried to install it on my daughters car, and it DOES NOT FIT!!!!!!! They didn't even give a crap if the job was right or not. They just found a part laying around the shop and welded it on just to get me out of their hair. So, let's summarize. Brought in two parts for a simple weld, and balance job. Lose one part, don't tell customer. Keep it forever, for whatever reason. Find random yoke, weld it on, no balance required because it looked good spinning on the lathe. Lose parts that I took precautions not to lose (wrapping u-joint caps with tape) Then charging me anyway for the crappiest work and service that I have ever had in my entire life read more

After many poor experiences with other shops, I've used Thrash Automotive for over 10 years with multiple vehicles and I've always had an excellent experience. We've had several instances where they helped us to find the least expensive route or advised us on things that could wait a little while.
