Completely unacceptable treatment of animals…read more I witnessed a dog in this facility's care left outside in extreme NYC heat for over 40 minutes -- with no shade, no water, and on scorching pavement. The dog was panting heavily, visibly distressed, and trying to avoid burning its paws. I timed it myself. This isn't just poor care -- it's animal cruelty, and it's illegal under New York Agriculture & Markets Law § 353. I reported the incident to the police and am now filing official complaints with the ASPCA, Animal Care Centers of NYC, and, if necessary, the District Attorney's Office. If this is how animals are treated when people are watching, I can't imagine what happens when no one is looking. This business should not be allowed to work with animals until they are held accountable. Do better.

Over the years, I've tried a few other places, particularly when Jay's shop was closed for renovations, but I always end up returning to Jay because of his consistent quality. My twins are miniature schnauzers, and they can be quite whiny and yappy with their high-pitched voices, but Jay has always handled them with love and care. Even if I'm a few weeks late in bringing them in, leading to some matting, Jay never makes me feel like a bad dog mom. Jay was the one who suggested I get my oldest dog's eye checked out because he noticed something concerning. He was right, and it turned out to be an autoimmune disease. I'm very thankful for his keen eye; my dog lived a long, good life, passing at 15. Today, I had my twins groomed. Jay noticed a bump under my girl twin's arm and immediately informed me, reassuring me not to worry but to have it checked by the vet. He mentioned that it might just be due to age. Jay has always been exceptionally kind to my dogs, consistently excellent with grooming, quick, and easy to book appointments with. He's a wonderful person to work with, and I'm so grateful to have him in my neighborhood. My pups are well-groomed every 6-8 weeks, and I couldn't be happier with his services. Always professional, they do their best to accommodate your requested time and are good in responding back when rescheduling. Are they sometimes late, yes, but so I am; multiple times they wait for me when I'm running late due to my commute, never more than 15 min or so but they waited. Have they missed an appointment, just once in 9 years...once... and it happens, that's life, was I upset, yes, but not enough to change because I trust my dogs with them. They've even pointed out a rash or a bump that I wasn't aware of... Hope this helps some of you.

After taking some of my information, they proceeded to gossip about the dog groomer that I was previously using which had closed because according to this person "the guy was selling drugs out of the store, and I think he's in jail. His wife is trying to start something up but is having a hard time because all his drug money is tied up." I was appalled by the fact that this person was telling me this, but let this go too. The date was set and confirmed multiple times and someone was supposed to arrive at my house on Monday. Monday came and went without anyone showing up, as did Tuesday and Wednesday. Finally, I called on Thursday and got the same plain, uninformative, disgruntled "Hello?" greeting. They tried to convince me that I MUST have been mistaken and that there's no way I was scheduled for LAST Monday and that I'm still on the schedule for THIS Monday. Let it go. I waited, with an overgrown, smelly dog, for the weekend to pass. AGAIN Monday came and went without anyone showing up! This time I only waited until Wednesday before calling because i was tired of letting things slide, but no one answered any of my calls. Perhaps it's because they've closed due to an inability to keep appointments and make money. I've been using Yelp for a while, but have only just signed up now just to write this. My experience was that bad. The only reason they've gotten a star at all is because zero stars is not an option. Not only would I never recommend them to anyone, I'd have no problem sharing my awful experience with every dog owner I know.
