The parking was free, which I heard it is usually during the week, it's conveniently located near the beach. It is quite small, so I'm assuming it packs up very quick but luckily we got there early and there was not a lot of people. The beach itself was very clean and peaceful. There was even kids in there fishing. Coming from California we were very surprised to see that the water was warm. We are most definitely coming back.

Employee ( guide ) of 21 years old was screaming and cursing at a 13-year-old boy because he accidentally (barely) bumped the back of another ATV . Employee (guide) gets off screaming with curse words told him to get the F ** off and to start walking back .. I mean it was terrible the way they treated the kid and customers . You pay for 1 hour ride but since crazy employee is mad so they cut it short to 30 minutes but still charged you an hr . The owner will charge you for things on the ATVs that were already damaged previously there's no way to prove it was already there since you receive the ATVs already damaged and all dirty . All they care is about money and how to take more out of you . The owners there just didn't care how we were treated. They ruined our experience. The ride around was just dirt nothing else just did circles in the same area Nothing exciting. I never leave bad reviews , but this was unacceptable. I will never recommend it. I'll never go there again. The park is dirty the water is dirty . When you call they never answer and if they do, they hang up on you I mean, I could keep going, but this sums it up.

This park is so calming, even when it's packed with people…read more Plenty of parking, good paved running trail, bike trail along the back, good scenery with the lake, playground for the kids, outdoor workout station and frisbee golf (if you're into that). The running trail seems to be about .8 miles a lap, with markers for 5 and 10k runs. You will see plenty of turtles and ducks, the fishing is decent, expect to catch catfish. This park doesn't have it all, but it's a good mid size park with friendly people. Dog owners can be annoying, especially those with pits bulls, and the ones that don't pick up after their dogs . Unfortunately not everyone disposes of their trash property and this results in little on the banks of the lake. At night don't be surprised if you see some rats (nature), and plenty of duck poop which can be surprisingly large . Bonus: there is a good size hill on the south side of the park, it is good for climbing, rolling, and uphill sprints. Have fun!

I get that and I am not comparing this park to the PNW, but even in the context of "It may not be the best place to hike, but it's the best we've got", this is a pretty unremarkable and boring park for hiking. I'm sorry, it just is, and it's not worth the drive unless you happen to live in the area and have no other place to go. The name of the park is Lake Houston Wilderness Park but you don't see Lake Houston from here and in the 10.5 mile hike around the Ameritrail, I did not see one single bit of wildlife- not even a bird. How does a park with so many trees not even have birds? I mean don't get me wrong, I'm glad I didn't run into any snakes or even a single mosquito either but how is it possible that even wildlife don't come to this park? For the $3 cover charge, at least I got plenty of exercise but I might as well been at the Houston Arboretum since it's closer and they actually have turtles and birds and such to see. This was just a long walk without any bathrooms or rest stops along the way and you can get that anywhere. I guess if you are there for camping or the other activity they offer, it might be worth it but if you're going to do that, why not just go to Brazos Bend where they have some interesting stuff going on too?

Lake Houston is such a beautiful and calming place to be. I couldnt have asked for a better day. It was super hot so I would suggest going early in the morning or in the evening in the summer. $10 for parking all day but you can fish out on the pier which was awesome!

Never been here before but lately I have been feeling a bit adventurous and finally decided to try…read morethis outdoor sport. Came here to try fishing for my first time after it was recommended. Not too far but a ways from home, first thing I noticed as I pulled in was all the seating areas, which was perfect since I bought food for us to enjoy the outdoors before we fish. This Marina offers a deck with many picnic tables, perfect for families to visit all at one time. The restrooms were clean and my kids also enjoyed running back and forth from the deck to the playground. My family and I felt safe the entire time we were there, all I had to pay for was the $10 private parking offered at the marina, not to mention all people there were so kind. Met lovely fishermen and women that made suggestions for my first time fishing. I look forward to coming here with my kids again and create great memories by the water.
