Being new homeowners in Sussex county I searched & searched for an oil company. They all had terrible reviews & this one was the highest at a 2 1/2 stars. I have to give them 5-stars. We have called twice and Olivia has been extremely kind and professional. We placed our first order about 4 months and she actually remembered us. The service was GREAT, the first time we ordered through Olivia and they came the very next day. This second time around we ordered online in the afternoon and early this morning they were here filling up our tank. Their price are competitive I hear. It took me a bit to find a locally owned business that has not sold to one of the big regional or national companies but I'm glad I found Hackettstown Oil! Joe Pettenger was our Driver; he's a wealth of knowledge and customer service!! Two young brothers own and run this company and their team delivers service like they own the company! I'm glad other ppl have something nice to say but my experience is far from that. I prepaid for 200 gallons of oil. I was told delivery would be in the morning. The fuel was not delivered in the morning. I called back and they said "we never give a time" so where did I get this from? The air?? Then they said they deliver until 5pm. Well here it's after 6 pm I have no oil. I will NEVER use this company AGAIN!! I'll take my $500+ and go to another company. read more

Money grubbers and bad attitude. They charge you $20.00 to give you a courtesy call before they drop off the oil. I use a lot of different services and I never heard of charging to tell you they were going to be there shortly. They called me and said they would be coming in an hour. I wasn't at house but when I arrived an hour and a half later I see that they did not arrive. I called and asked if there was a problem because a few days before it had snowed and some of the roads were closed. She said she didn't know but I was concerned because I was extremely low on oil. I asked her if she looked into it and she pushed back on looking into it. I stated mistakenly that it was 2 hours ago the truck driver called. She challenged me on this and asked me to look on my phone to validate when the truck driver called. I looked on my phone and told her I was mistaken it was one hour and 35 minutes. I pressed her again to look and find out. She begrudgingly called the driver and told me I was the next stop. I would never use this company again. I was desperate because I was very low on oil and they were local. I usually use Finch Oil but because of the snow they could not deliver it for two days. Figured we'd give our business to a local company, Hackettstown Oil who price matches. We've done it before and gave our business to them recently a few months ago. The woman who answered the phones gave us the hardest time about price matching companies we have price matched before. She proceeded to tell us she won't price match companies that don't service our area. Ok I totally get that, It's a business... so we offer Liberty as a price match, she says ""no we won't price match them because they are delivering a week out"ok.... we offer Bacaradi Oil as the price match (who has delivered to us two or three times in the past) the woman still proceeds to say no although they price matched Bacardi for us on our last delivery from Hackettstown Oil. ‍ gave up and just sticking with Bacardi who has been lovely and WILL deliver to Hackettstown with cheaper rates. Hackettstown Oil, don't offer price match if your not going to price match. read more
