WOW!! First of all ONE OF THE KINDEST MEN greets you, warm smile friendly tone of voice. Even a little story about the flavours you are about to taste. He even offers FREE HOT TEA! Now it isn't the prettiest of places BUT forget about that. I got the Chicken Kabob Wrap, it hangs on a roaster. He slices your portion from the chicken as you watch. Offered to taste before ordering. Now I had zero ideas why I went here, and am glad I did. This is the most flavourful wrap EVER! I was in the mood for middle eastern food and after reading the reviews, figured I definitely had to try this place. I was really excited and very hungry. Once the food came, the presentation was fine but the food just didn't taste as I expected. I had a TON of onions and not much meat. The flavors just seemed a bit off for me and I've had quite a bit of middle eastern food from different places all over New York. I also wasn't a big fan of the salad. Overall, it was just okay. I wasn't impressed. I wish there was more meat and a bit less rice maybe to offset that. I definitely expected something a bit different. read more

The chicken in the chicken shwarma dish was under cooked and not fresh. Felt very ill for several days after I tried it.

Stopped in here for the first time today and enjoyed lunch to go. The chicken shawarma plate was delicious and a decent portion for $8. We also loved the grape leaves though they were certainly different than other middle eastern stuffed grape leaves- in a good way! Was not crazy about the falafel sandwich because it was a little bit soggy. Other than the prepared foods there's a number of middle eastern grocery staples, including the bessssst pita that is super cheap and freezes well. Also lots of reasonably priced spices, canned things and sweets. Will definitely be back to try the labna and for another chicken shawarma plate! read more

I cannot believe that this was my first time eating at Haddads this entire time I've lived in Poughkeepsie... The food is amazing and so cheap!! Falafel is one of my all time favorites and they do it just right at Haddad's. The falafel is very moist, tahini is made to perfection, and the pita bread is real pita not some generic store bought flour tortilla! They also offered me some free house made hot sauce which had amazing flavor (& could even stand to be spicier). The falafel sandwich price is unbeatable at $4.49--you can't get a freshly made filling meal for that price anywhere! I also tried the Lamb Kebab meal over Doordash and I was very happy with that meal as well I highly recommend getting the guava juice in the small glass bottle... perfect combination of flavors with the freh hot food. This is a great family run business and I will be recommending it to everyone. The only I wish they had is some fries to go with the Falafel Sandwich... but still worth it 100% read more

My coworkers and I LOVE Haddad's! We work in the neighborhood and this is our go-to take-out lunch spot. The food is excellent, the prices are unbeatable, and Maurice (the owner) is incredibly kind and generous. You will not find a better Middle eastern deli in this area. I also go here for related groceries, like spices and tahini. I love it!! I would recommend calling 10-15 minutes ahead of pick up if you are getting a meat dish, but if you're getting the falafel, calling 5 minutes ahead works! read more

I really like this place. The guy that runs the store is very friendly and he is always nice to me everytime I come to get food from there. With that being said I always get the chicken shawarma over rice. The chicken is made fresh everyday.. And he cuts your chicken from the spit to order. The chicken had really good flavor to it. I also really enjoy the rice. I am not sure what type of rice it is, but it is always cooked perfectly and it has great flavor to it. I can't really speak for the rest of the menu, I only get one thing when I come here. There is also a small freezer section, where an assortment of different middle eastern foods are sold. There is also herbs and spices that are sold as well. If you want some good shawarma, this is the place to come too!!! read more

Came here after reading the excellent reviews and I have to say I was a more than a tad bit bummed. My area doesn't have more than two Middle Eastern restaurant choices and I was willing to take the 40 min trip (one way) to get some. I had this and another choice for Middle Eastern food, but came here because it looked more mom and pop and I like to support businesses like this. Before I get to the food, the place does sell Middle Eastern products which is nice. They have a cool seating area to the left and the food is prepared towards the back. The staff, female and male were really nice. Sweet people. Okay so the food. I had the chicken kabobs with rice and it comes with a salad (don't know the name but it has a lot of parsley.) My chicken was flavored nicely. It came with white rice which I was surprised because I was expecting basmati or maybe another type of rice. Though it was flavored nicely, I wasn't happy with that choice. Also ordered lamb kabobs and asked for chicken kabobs with that order as well. She told me I couldn't do that unless I pay $19.99 for three meats. I would've paid extra for the chicken only but hey they weren't having it. My husband says the lamb wasn't seasoned and was very bland. He tried my chicken and said it was better than his. He too was bummed with the white rice. The small salad that comes with the order had a lot of parsley and you can taste it was sitting for a while. Everything was really soggy and had an old taste. Even had some browning to it. I love Middle Eastern food and was surprised this lacked those amazing flavors we love. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

Delicious food and friendly service. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally stopped when we were in the area nearby one day. I got lamb kebabs and my husband got chicken schwarma. My lamb was good, I just wished it had a little bit more salt. The chicken was really delicious. The rice and other accompaniments were flavorful and the red sauce that they gave you for the food was very delicious and not too hot at all. Theyy gave my son a sample of the chicken while we were waiting to order so that scored bonus points with me. Overall it was really good and the portions were good for the price. This is an awesome spot! They have some really awesome specialty ingredients that you don't find anywhere else, and they've also expanded to offering hot food which is EXCELLENT! The kufte in particular is amazing, and the house made tahini is addictive -- I want it on everything!! The best part of this store though is easily the people. We ordered twice! Grape leaves have a flavorful rice inside that is savory. We asked for a container of Baba Ganoush which was not on the menu but tasted homemade. Chicken shawarma platter had so much flavor and his side salad was so fresh. We also ordered kebab platter, falafel platter, chicken kebab platter. It seems that he makes a special item each day. We tried the spinach pie, so good! Only $2 for a yummy afternoon snack. The prices are so low for the amount of food in the platters. Our 2nd visit that week, he made a cute dessert item which was on the counter. You have to ask him what special item he made that day. It's close to Vassar and easy to drive to and has easy parking. I went into the middle eastern deli hungry came out completely satisfied I had a Shawarma sandwich as well as a pancake sweet that was stuff to cheese which is awesome everything in there is homemade and tastes great they even have a cinnamon tea with nuts in it if you desire which is awesome ! This is a Middle Eastern grocery store with a couple of small tables in the front. The owner is friendly and if you visit during lunch time he will probably recommend trying his chicken shawarma.
