I haven't been to Rhinebeck in years but enjoyed walking around in early April. Lots of restaurants with delicious smells wafting outdoors. Aba's was no exception. I saw someone enjoying a delicious smelling soup outside and went in. They offer variations around falafel (sandwiches and platters) two daily soups, baklava for dessert and non alcoholic beverages. They offer homemade sauces and fresh hot pepper if you'd like to add more spice to your life. The place was packed inside. It's tiny in there and there's also some outdoor seating. It's more a take out place unless you come early and snag a seat. My falafel platter was super fresh and delicious- from the freshly fried falafel, salad, cabbage, tahini and pillowy pita. The prices are great-$16.50 for my falafel platter. They only make falafel and a handful of other food but what they offer is top notch. I could go on and on about how fantastic the food was. Service was friendly and efficient.

Met a couple of friends here for lunch. Not going to fault Aba's for lack of parking, but just know that it is right in the village of Rhinebeck and parking is tight on busy and holiday weekends. Aba's falafel is a charming little storefront, and it's very cute inside. They do not have a lot of seating, so this might not be the right place for you if you are having a big group or want to sit down at a busy time. The service was prompt, but I didn't find it super friendly. It was busy and they seemed more interested in moving the line along than taking the time to help each individual. The food is good. Nice selection of sauces on the side to complement your meal. I would go back for the food, but I would not have a group lunch there.

If I could give this place 100 stars I would. Every single thing is delicious. The falafels must be magic because they are the lightest and moistest anywhere. The salads are SUPER fresh (even in winter) and dressing is light and flavorful but so so delicious. The hummus is the best anywhere. It's perfect actually. My hubby got the Sabeech which has slices of potato and eggplant in the mango dressing. He orders this dish EVERY TIME! The pita is the best. Warm and fluffy and full of joy. The eat-in part is small and chilly due to the door being opened for patrons. The service is "cafeteria" style. The servers plate out nice portions with a smile. Great job Aba

Yum Yum! High-quality ingredients in a quaint small shop! The employees at Aba's seem to genuinely enjoy working there and interacting with their patrons. You order at the counter and can see all the ingredients and employees assembling the sandwiches. We really enjoyed our falafel sandwiches and the overall eco-friendliness of the place!

I was really excited to try this place after reading all the fantastic reviews, but I wasn't super excited about my recent experience here. I felt that the pita was a bit crunchy which did not seem super fresh to me. I'm used to a soft chewy pita bread. The falafel was okay, but didn't taste warm and freshly made. The service was friendly and timely, but it just seemed like everything was premade and had been sitting around. They have table seating, bar seats by the window and two tables outside.

We recently had lunch in Rhinebeck, but my husband was determined to try Aba's. After eating a modestly sized lunch elsewhere, we walked around and managed to get here right as they were closing, although they were polite enough to serve us. My husband got a falafel pita and I stupidly just got a few falafel. The falafel itself was probably the best I've ever had; they were incredibly flavorful, not dry at all, and with a bit of crunch. My husband's falafel pita was divine. The falafel combined with everything inside and the sauces made me fairly jealous that I did not get one myself. The food was delicious and we appreciated the service and this will be our go to spot for this kind of food.

This is my favorite dive in Rhinebeck - all vegetarian and all delicious! This time we came at the busiest hour - lunch rush on Easter weekend, and the line was super long out its door. But the atmosphere behind the counter (where they take your order and assemble the food) remained calm, orderly and efficient. Every customer was greeted with friendly smiles, thoughtful questions and speedy service. I ordered my usual falafel pita, plus the roasted pepper and artichoke soup, while my husband tried their sabeech pita. It's a miracle how much food they skillfully stuff into a pita pouch - I would have torn it or dropped the content - making one's meal a great value. The soup was amazing, and the sandwiches were heavenly! There aren't many such fast yet gourmet eateries in Rhinebeck, and this one is a must try!

Visiting family in the area and we decided to give Aba's a shot since the Yelp reviews were stellar. We had and combination plate - everything was great. The falafel was fresh, crispy and flavorful. We sampled all of the sauces and didn't taste one we didn't like! Outdoor seating has heaters and there's seating on the side too which we didn't realize until we were leaving. It was good, above average falafel. The packaging was all environmentally friendly for the most part.

This is definitely a must visit in Rhinebeck. I cant recommend this place more. Falafal, pita, hummus everything is so fresh and tasty. Place is providing best Falafal in town or may be in new england.

The staff and owner were warm and welcoming, and we loved seeing photos of animals from local sanctuaries displayed throughout the restaurant. We take out seat in the very cool back room, and only after 5 or so minutes the drink and food arrives. Now I am a complete foodie, really tough on everything I eat, but after one bite I was in love. To the point where I asked Lauren, the owner, what mustard they were using, and then ordered a panini press when I got home hoping to recreate the magic. Perfectly chewy bread, just the right balance of sweet and savory, and that mustard. Truly amazing. My wife ordered the avocado toast which she said was perfection. The atmosphere laid back and funky. Everything was reasonable priced. LOVE LOVE LOVE Cafe Joust!

So I ordered the ground beef copycat signature empanadas which can easily fool ya. I honestly had to do a double take because just from the look it felt like this was real ground beef. The sriracha mayo gave it the perfect kick too! To put this empanada to the test, we told our meat eating sister that this was a ground beef empanada and ours was the vegetarian one. She ate it convinced that it was meat. A few hours later we finally told her she had the same one we did. She couldn't believe it and it really had her fooled. So 100% compliments to the chef! They also sell sweet (nutella) empanadas (I'll def be trying this one next time). Bottom line: vegan, vegetarian or meat eater, you NEED to try the plant palate. Their menu is extensive and impressive; they have some all-star dishes on their permanent menu as well as a rotating daily menu with a legendary lineup of seasonal items. I really appreciate that they have dishes that are hard to come by such as lentil loaf and lasagna, and these never disappoint. The lentil loaf is unique; it is a little brick of lentils (not your traditional sliceable mush of breadcrumbs and minced veggies). It's very well seasoned and the tomato sauce on top is not overly sweet. The mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and (very) garlicky greens make it a great meal. The lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. It's pasta-free and just made from layers of sliced zucchini and other veggies sandwiched with their delicious crumbly housemade cashew cheese. The herby tomato sauce is super flavorful. The side salad and garlic bread that accompany it are great also; an ultra comforting meal. We enjoyed the macro meal, although honestly not as much as the other dishes. The pan-seared tofu was delicious, but the arame seaweed salad was super seaweedy and salty - a bit much for me. I'm also not sure why they didn't serve it in a bowl, which would have made the rice etc. easier to eat. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps avocado, or a hunk of sweet potato. A few items at the Garden Cafe are a little perplexing, compared to how perfect most of their food is. The tempeh is just ok. It's heavily marinated in a sweet and salty sauce and kind of strange. Also disappointing that it's just a big brand tempeh rather than one of the local tempeh brands available in the area. The housemade focaccia is also bizarre. The texture made me think it was gluten-free (but it's not). Is it whole wheat?? If that's the case, awesome, but they should mention that on the menu, so you aren't taken aback when you don't get pillowy airy bread and instead get something flat and gray that could be mistaken for a biscotti. We LOVE the Garden Cafe and wish more places like this existed serving organic classic meals. We wish they would open a location in New York City, but until then, we will be making the drive!

They are crazy popular, so there was already a line outside when we arrive 5 minutes before opening on a sunny summer Sunday morning. Wow! That's always a good sign. We waited in line for about 25 minutes total, which wasn't terrible. They have sooo many choices, and we ended up choosing the Strawberry Crumb Cake and the Old Fashioned Chocolate Crumb. The Strawberry one was fluffy and had a jam filling, which was deliciously fruity. The chocolate one was absolutely incredible!! It was a classic "cake donut", meaning that it was super dense in texture. It reminded me of a brownie, however not too overwhelming chocolatey. Even though they say they're open until 3pm, they are clear about being open "until sold out". I asked the guy behind the counter and he said that they will often sell out by 1-2pm in the summer. By 12pm they typically have very limited options left. He also mentioned that the line will often start forming around 9am, a full hour before the place opens. I find that to be a bit extreme... There's very little seating inside (just two small tables), so I highly recommend that you take your donuts to go. If it's a nice day out, walk around the corner and grab a seat at a picnic table! Lastly, they have a huge "WARNING: FOOD ALLERGY" sign on their door that I highly recommend you read if you have any type of food allergies.
