I absolutely loved this cute little store! They've got all sorts of knickknacks and fun gifts. Also their plant selection is amazing! When we went in, there was a little puppy that greeted us. My son picked out a little wooden wand and it's one of his favorite toys now. The employees were super sweet as well. Cultivate is a little shop full of amazing little things you didn't know you needed or wanted. The way they bring in items from other venders is awesome. But because of that if you see something you love, grab it! Because it could be a one time item that vender made and may not have extra. The staff is so helpful and positive. The quality of the plants are fabulous. If you're looking for a unique plant, you can probably find it there. There's a little station where you can also pot your plant, and the variety of beautiful planters available. They sometimes hold little festivals there, which is so fun! This is one of the most beautiful gift/plant stores I've been in. It's literally an old house (that I want to live in). They offer classes and all sorts of workshops every week. They have a ton of beautiful plants and herbs seeded and read for you to put into your garden. It's easy to get to and parking is right in front. It's worth a visit to check out the gift shop and to see what classes they offer. You could also make a day of it and visit the antique store down the street and get a bite to eat nearby! Beautiful local shop to support small business in the city!I loved their potting station and the ability to bring my own plant home. They had a beautiful and wide selection of succulents, cactuses and other plants. We found this store really cute with a nice quaint ambience. I really loved visiting here and am excited to visit again in the future. I told my friends that this is a great spot to soend a few hours and it is super unique. Great little shop with a fun hodgepodge collection of items. Lots of plants and succulents to choose from and they even have a lending library of health focused books. They require you leaving your credit card number to borrow a book, which I get, but I'm still not going to just leave my credit card number with someone so I didn't get to enjoy using the lending library. The shop itself is fun to browse, it appears they use a lot of local artists which I really dig. The prices are definitely "boutique" prices, but I still found something affordable and cute for my house. Make sure you support this local business. read more

Super cute store that supports locally and U.S. made goods. Beautiful succulents, wonderful gardening tools, quirky finds great for gifting, quality kids gear and a great kitchen/home goods selection. Great for mamas as there is a gated kids play area right in the store where kiddos can tinker with their play kitchen and some of the eco friendly toys sold in store. Super friendly staff, family owned and operated. They carry a lot of goods you won't find in large department stores that are better quality, handmade, locally sourced and just overall more adorable than the average machine made junk. As much as I want to support a local business in the King Street district, it is very difficult with the customer service that I experienced last week. The website tells a nice story of a mother/daughter team who share a passion for organic, high-quality, sustainable goods and bringing it to the community. Unfortunately the clerk who was neither the mother nor the daughter made my customer experience not reflect that sentiment. Since I am now out of town, I asked a family member to exchange a cute kid's outfit and a pair of baby shoes for the correct size. All never used, brand new with the tags on (no receipt as it was a gift). I emphasize exchange. Not cash back or even a store credit. Instead of completing this run of the mill, everyday transaction, the clerk told my family member she had to first contact the owners as she did not have the authority to take care of this transaction, and that it is their policy to not do exchanges or returns. Sounds kind of strange, right? I mean, you're a business and one of your main functions is to do transactions of goods. Moving on. My family member called and briefed me and asked what I wanted to do whether to wait on the owner to get back to the clerk or forget the whole thing. I asked to speak with the clerk myself to and explained what we were trying to accomplish, that we were just trying to make the situation right by swapping for the right size clothes and we weren't looking for cash back or store credit. I was taken aback by the attitude I was greeted with by the clerk. I could only imagine being there in person having this conversation. I was told the same thing, that their policy is to not do exchanges or returns so she had to contact the owners. I ignored the attitude and wondered to myself if that is actually their policy and continued on. When I asked the clerk about the timeframe she expected to hear back from the owners I was told one was out of the state and that they "own many businesses" so she didn't know. I could tell our conversation was going no where so I asked the clerk if she could call or text my family member's cell when the owners get back to her to see if we can exchange the unused outfit and shoes. My family member called me right back after they left the store and told me how when they handed the clerk the phone to speak with me the clerk actually rolled her eyes like she couldn't be bothered. This only confirmed to me that she indeed had an attitude and it wasn't my imagination. I'm saddened to have had this experience and for my family member too who was just doing me a favor since I couldn't be there in person. It's unfortunate that someone would actually be rude to multiple people trying to simply remedy a pretty mundane situation. Later in the afternoon, the clerk did text my family member saying she was authorized to complete the exchange. Great. But now this whole experience was exhausting when it shouldn't have been, and took the wind out of my sails for Cultivate Jax. I'm hopeful that since they are a small, local business this was simply an off day for this particular clerk and isn't representative of the overall customer experience. read more

I recently relocated here. Found cultivate Jax for Qigong Class it was so refreshing. I wanted to find balance in my life. My first class so wonderful. I left with balance. Energy and sense of joy. The instructor Cheryl is fabulous She walked you through the movement. so you won't be confused. She made me feel welcomed. Most instructors go so fast you can't keep up. I love this place! It's become my go-to for picking up a special gift for somebody's bday, housewarming, etc. I love that the products are mainly made in the USA and a lot of what they stock are from pretty local small businesses. There's a pretty good range of prices here too, you can get some super cute mini cacti/succulents for $2-$8, a packet of seeds to start a little veggie garden, a beautifully made local mug, or splurg a bit more on an Ohio Stoneware Crockpot. The other thing I love about this place is they host community workshops. I always like to pop in to see what is coming next, so far I've seen ones for raising garden chickens, honey bees, embroidery, flower arranging. AND if I couldn't love this place anymore, I found out it is owned by women (mother/daughter duo). Definitely a great addition to Riverside/Avondale's growing community! read more

I absolutely adore this shop in riverside, Jax. I can ride my bike from my house and it's in such a cute area! Whenever I need a last minute, thoughtful gift Cultivate is my go-to! The owner is welcoming, and she has such an eclectic collection of local goodies! My favorite aspect of the shop is definitely the pot your own plant area. You can choose from hundreds of cacti and succulents, pick out your pot and then pot the plant yourself in te shop! Cultivate has a potting station where they suppy the soil and the rocks for your new plant friends! If you haven't checked out Cultivate yet, you definitely should! This store is a community asset, providing a venue for workshops to connect local craft, talent, and entrepreneurs to community members in a safe, welcoming space. I attended a gardening workshop at the store and really enjoyed the hands-on educational experience I received. It was also a great opportunity to meet new people. Additionally, it was a cold day and the owner served us hot herbal tea! The shop has been beautifully remodeled, and is a delight to be inside and outside in the garden of the old Riverside home. The shop offers high quality items for kitchen, child and garden, and other select home goods. I enjoy shopping there for gifts and I usually find something for myself, too. I recommend the hand shears for your garden, and the cotton baby clothes and shoes! Everything in the shop is beautiful and it is worth it just to take a walk around the store. It is a relaxing place to just look around. I feel great knowing that their products are sustainably-sourced and made in the USA. It is a store I can trust and that gives back to the local community.
