Tyler fixed some wobbly outlets today. He was super informative and helpful. Educated me on space heaters and gave me input on my current outlet situation and what I can do in the future. He confirmed the outlet was indeed getting power, and that the box needed to be adjusted. It was a quick 30 minute fix (maybe less than 30 minutes but I got some educational incite from him). Glad I went with Hagan Electric to fix this. A previous electrician from Mister Sparky Electric claimed the outlet needed to be rewired and was not getting any electricity. The Mister Sparky Electric guy charged $400 to tell my HOA: "Resident has square D panel which complies with today's standards. No need to change panel." All he did was look at the panel that day. Maybe 15 minutes to say what kind of panel it was and charged $400. Anyways- beware of going to certain companies to have electrical work done. Hagan Electric seems like a good one. Lost power to half the house this morning. I called Hagan and they were able to get someone out here within the hour. The two guys who came were most polite and friendly. They got right to work. While they were working, they smelled a gas leak. Had they not alerted me to it I would not have smelled it or known it was there. I was able to call PG&E to come fix the leak while they were taking care of the electrical problems. They showed me the problem and fixed the breaker that was not working, but also gave me an estimate to have the panel replaced, which is what needs to be done. Over rated charge, charge $160 for a used wall fix wall plug. The electrician came and declared the diagnosis will be $49, and I agreed to that. 5min later, he continued to ask me to start the $200/hour work. I told him that I will pay for the diagnostic and get an estimate. He then told me that it is GFIC is broken and the electric fan remote control module is broken. Then I agreed for them to fixe the GFIC. They start the work without telling me how much it cost about the material. And gave me a bill of one hour labor and $160 for the GFIC. And I found it is an old one, as the picture shown. read more

Update. So the owner Zach saw my yelp review. He called me yesterday around 2pm and left a message saying he wanted to apologize and make it right and to call him back. I did not call back. An hour and a half later his employee shows up at my house unannounced to pick up his drill. He knocked and rang my doorbell multiple times. I did not answer. It was clear he was not going to leave. He would walk down the driveway and come back and knock some more. His coworker texted me to let me know he was here to pick up his drill (because I wasn't answering the door). It is rude and unprofessional that he showed up unannounced and would not leave when I didn't answer the door. He was here for 10 minutes! With no sign of leaving. I saw he was still at my house in his car so I put the drill on the porch. He got the drill and then he finally left. How do you go from ignoring texts and messages to just showing up unannounced? No one asked if I was home or available or what a good time would be. I don't know if this is the owner's idea of "making it right", but for me it made it worse. read more

Zach installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage and I am just so happy and impressed with the whole experience! Availability: Zach is not *the* most local electrician to Truckee, but he comes here regularly, and was able to commit a very reasonable appointment date and time window, as soon as I accepted his bid. Price: I reached out to several electricians and Zach had one of the more reasonable bids. Flexibility: Zach was able and willing to bid the job through photos and specific questioning. I'm sure your mileage will vary on this depending on the nuance/complexity of the job, but I'm so appreciative he does this when he's able. It was a huge time saver for me, and hopefully for him also. He is very cost conscious, but was also happy to use a significantly more expensive brand of receptacle, at my request (and of course at cost for the upgrade). We just bought a house that came with many electrical issues. Zach, from Hagan Electric was able to correct several of the severe issues in one day. They were able to completely replace the electrical panel and remove the sketchy outlets in our sketchy shed. They installed a new outlet on the of the house as requested. They were very diligent about small things, like relabeling the panel with the correct rooms. The estimate came out almost exactly as quoted-- just $20 cheaper. After sending some pictures of what we wanted done he advised as to what the cost was and we setup an appointment. I have a 2-car garage and a 1-car garage. Sure enough, the circuit breaker is behind the 1-car garage when I needed a Nema 14-50 outlet in my 2-car. I reached out to a few businesses and got various quotes, of course. Had some quotes that 15-20ft of line would cost at least $1,500, but in actuality it will end up needing more line if I'm running it alongside the walls. One came back with the idea of running it up through my 2nd floor attic, and all the way to the 2-car garage. It would produce a cleaner look, but he estimated around $3k+, before he even had a chance to look at my house. That option wasn't particularly palatable to me, but at least I had an idea of the rates. Zach responded and I appreciated that he was trying to setup a time to inspect my house first before offering a variety of quotes. I explained to him what others have suggested and he gave me more budget friendly options. He explained his method to run the line through my 1-car garage, drill through the other side and attach the conduit on the beam under my gutter (to decrease the visibility), then drill through the stone into my 2-car garage and make a clean install there. One other Electrician said they won't drill through stone, but Zach said he'll even seal up the hole through the stone. He then gave me a good understanding of other options like amperage and how that would affect the wire thickness, conduit size and pricing so that I could make an informed decision. His final quote came out lower than the others so I was satisfied with his option. He was able to come back at an earlier date than previously expected, did the job as he said, and overall I'm very pleased with the result. A couple of other things I'd like to note. He planned the job for 5 hrs, and he was actually quite accurate. But an extra hour was needed because he needed to change some things after finding parts of the house prevented him from getting through as easily as he thought. These things happen, as you don't always know until you start the work. I also asked if he could move the outlet a bit further into my garage than initially thought (like another 6 feet). So even with the added time, and added length of wire/conduit, he didn't nitpick the details and didn't charge extra. He cleaned up after he was done, and the drywall cuts were pretty clean and straight so my follow-up patch work was pretty straight forward.
