Great job installing my Tesla wall charger! They came to my house on time and installed the charger pretty easily and quickly. The whole process took less than an hour and was very smooth. I am applying for the permit myself and had to ask the electrician a bunch of questions (like how many amps each part was), and the electrician was very knowledgeable and patient in answering my questions. The pricing is also very reasonable and competitive with other electricians, if not better. Best of all, other electricians seem to drag their feet and have all kinds of restrictions as to what they can or cannot do. One other company tried to charge me $250 just to unscrew a Tesla wall connector from the wall of my old house, which is insane, since it took me 15 min to unscrew a couple of screws. There were more than a few challenges discovered along the way (our house is 60 years old, with all the crumbling infrastructure that implies) but they addressed each challenge as they encountered it and dealt with every single problem this beat up old house threw at them. We ended up choosing AO to replace the rest of our knob and tube because 1) they gave a quote within our price range, 2) the quote was pretty similar to what we had previously been quoted by them (we weren't financially prepared enough at that time) and seemed reasonable from what I've read online (thanks, internet and also reddit), and 3) they are woman owned and super local, which is awesome. Communication was easy via email. I saw a few negative reviews that were about communication pre-quote and I only really had to follow up once or twice, which is only human, and they were really responsive. The quote and terms/conditions were straightforward, and they were really great about answering all my questions via email, which is my preferred method of communication. I think the quote process probably took about two weeks, scheduling took like two emails, and then the work itself only took 3 days (really 2 and a half). Once I accepted the quote and agreed to pay 10% of the quote upfront for materials, we scheduled, and then the work was done in just 3 days with really minimal power outages only on the first day. They were very considerate throughout the process, and even let us know about some other non-electrical related items we would need to have looked at. When they had bad news, they were excellent about having alternative solutions. They also rough-patched the walls for us (I'll paint them later), which was really convenient. And when they were done, the final cost had no surprises and they were also great about answering my final questions regarding what outlets were on which circuits, etc. A 10 year warranty on this work is also really great! I'll definitely be calling AO for future work, and would definitely recommend to others. read more

I hate writing one star reviews. I really do. It's not my thing. But when companies screw their customers it should go on record. As you scroll through the reviews for this company, notice that roughly every other review is a one star review with a dire warning. If you don't read the details of *this* review, please at least do yourself the favor of skimming through the many one star reviews. As a seasoned Yelper, I should have known better than to call on a company with this kind of record. But I made a mistake, and here is what happened. We had a problem with two exterior outlets not working. They were working previously so not the most complicated electrical problem. We called AO and they sent a guy out. He did his assessment - uncovering light switches, going into the attic etc. At the end of his checking, he told me they would need to send another crew to figure out the problem. The second crew comes with Kaylee as the head technician and at the end of their checking they *still* don't have a solution. Third visit, they tell me they can remedy the problem by putting a new box in the attic OR they can dig a 15 foot trench in the back. WiITHOUT TELLING ME, they go ahead and dig the trench in the back and tell me the job is done. With the technicians still on the property, I go out and test the outlet with my phone charger. The power isn't solid - it's goes on and off like a faulty light bulb. Kaylee is standing there and tells me the problem is with my phone cord. I tell her it's brand new. She uses her instrument to measure the power and she tells me it has full power. I'm obviously not convinced since my phone won't charge. Like an IDIOT, I gave them a check despite my reservations. As they're packing up to go, I bring out a different appliance to check the power on the outlet. I plug it in and there's no power at all. I go back into the house to tell them there's no power and they've already gone out the front door. I tried to wave them down as the truck pulled away but they didn't see me. I call Kaylee's cell phone and she doesn't pick up so I leave a message telling her there's no power in the outlet that she insisted had power. I ask them to please not cash the check until we have power and the job is complete. A day goes by, then two days. The next day I see they cashed the check despite my asking them NOT to cash it. Luckily I caught it in time and contacted the bank and the money came back to the account. I called the main number and leave more messages. Now a WEEK has passed and no reply. I continue to try to reach someone using both numbers. They are completely ghosting me. After 8 days of silence Natalie finally picks up the phone. I explained the situation and she said she would check with the boss (Kaylee). Kaylee lies saying I told them it was ok to cash my check. I never said that. I said the opposite, "the job is incomplete - please DON'T cash the check". She says they will come back to check the outlet but first they want payment. I tell them I will pay them on the day the job is complete and not before then. They threaten me by telling me they will put a mechanic's lean on our property if we don't give them advance payment. I told them that I will gladly pay the full balance in cash on the day they come to complete the job. How could they be insisting on full payment in advance when the job was incomplete!? The outlet that they insisted they repaired had NO POWER! Like an IDIOT again, I caved and I paid them the full balance in advance. They talked up their 10 year warranty and they said "no matter what" they would make sure that we had power at the end of the day. On their final visit to the property, Kaylee the boss didn't show. I knew she wouldn't. One technician took about 20 minutes to look at the outlet - took it apart etc and decided that it couldn't be fixed without digging another 20 foot trench for another $1800. The following week, I called a different electrician who came out to take a look at the outlet. I didn't give the new technician any background about the work that had been done previously. I just told him the outlet didn't work. He had power to the outlet in less than 20 minutes. He did in 20 minutes what a crew of AO technicians couldn't do in 4 days!! I couldn't believe he solved the problem that easily. He told me when he took the outlet apart, it was the most messed up outlet he'd ever seen. He said whoever worked on the outlet last had no idea what they were doing. AO lied to us on more than one occasion. They scammed us by taking money for a job that was never completed! Their demand for advance payment in full BEFORE the job was complete is backward and unconscionable. They threatened us with a mechanic's lean without justification. They ghosted us for days without replies to text or phone calls. No exaggeration, I've never dealt with a more crooked company in my lifetime. read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with AO Electric when they replaced the electrical panel outside our house and did some additional work inside. From start to finish, the entire team provided exceptional service and made the process seamless and stress-free. I must commend Natalie in the office for her professional and friendly demeanor. At no point did I doubt the work would be done right, and in a quick and efficient manner. Though I only spoke with her briefly, when her team members mentioned they'd spoken with her about something in reference to the project, they always came across like they trusted, respected, and admired her, which is a sign of good leadership. It's obvious when a team members references their manager and doesn't have a good relationship with them, as is the opposite. I also always love to patronize a woman-owned business, so if that's something that's important to you too, keep this in mind! They did an electrical panel install for me in January. They were quick to provide a bid and did a good job of getting the work completed. It has now been over two months since they completed the work, I still do not know if the County has signed off on the inspection and SMUD has not been back to replace the line from the pole to my house. There were two appointments set up with SMUD to come out and they no showed. I have already paid for the work, so I guess they now have no incentive to make sure everything is complete. If we could give more than 5 stars, we definitely would. That's how great and accomodating AO Electric and their entire staff has been. To start off, AO Electric was one of the very very few, if not the only company, to provide a FREE inspection. Tim was sent over and was able to inspect the problem we were having. I told him that several outlets around the house were not working and He inspected everything. He even took detailed pictures to help further their service. He concluded that I could just change out the wires but the problem could still persist. The best thing he offered was for us to change our entire electrical panel. And I thought to myself, "I knew this was going to be expensive, but holy crap it's going to get super expensive." Ironically what caught my attention was when right before he was going to leave, he accidentally over tightened one of my outlet face plates that it cracked. He apologized and promised to come back to replace it for free. In my head, I was like theres no way he's coming back since he did the inspection for free. He came back the next day and replaced the plate just as he promised. From there, I knew what kind of Team they had there at AO Electric. They were sincere and really really cared about the quality of their work. After inspecting, I told him we'd still be looking around for the best price available. During this time, I received the quote to change our entire electrical panel and my jaw dropped. About a month or so of looking into cheaper options, I contacted AO Electric once more. They were able to contact my insurance about the issue in order to file a claim. They provided the necessary details, the invoice, and the detailed pictures to ensure the claim would be approved. And it did! The day of they worked starting at 7:30am and finished the job in 6-7 hours if I can remember correctly. They labeled all of the power switches in the electrical panel nice and clean. I did not have a good experience with AO. Initially, they were quick to get a tech out to my house to quote my project to add external conduit for a microwave above the stove. I was told I'd receive the details of the quote within a few days to a week. 2 weeks later, I tried emailing and calling and leaving voicemails. I tried to contact them for weeks. I was completely ghosted. They stopped replying to me completely. After a few weeks went by, I reached out to electricians again on yelp and AO must have forgotten who I was because they replied saying they were interested. When I reminded them who I was, they ghosted me AGAIN. This company initially did a great job of responding to my call and setting up an appointment to come look at my project. The next day after the appointment I received the estimate and the job was completed within a few weeks.I was happy with the quality of the work and I believe the price was fair. While they were there I also thanked them several times for how much I appreciate them coming out to get the job done for me. A couple weeks later I had another job same size, same value and it took them 2 to 3 weeks just to schedule a time to come look at the project after several calls for some reason. Once they finally arrived to look at the project I was told that the job can be done and I would receive an estimate the next day. Unfortunately, and for some reason, I never received the estimate. I called the office and texted several times and was told repeatedly I would have the estimate. As of this morning, I still have not received the estimate. I really didn't want to write this but i have to warn others. Get another electric business to do the work. Horrible communication guys!! Horrible!.
