One of the nicest grocery stores I've ever been to. There are sooo many tasty looking deli items from Asian hot bar, premade sandwiches and dozens of salads (pasta, broccoli, potato, noodle, etc). Everything was stocked so well and looked very fresh. The bakery here is also out of control. Dangerous! I got the Mediterranean veggie sandwich on olive focaccia bread. It came with housemade chips. Holy smokes, just absolutely delicious. A little expensive for a grocery store but better price and value than any restaurant! Plus they have a full seating area to sit and enjoy your meal. Haggen's is one of two grocery stores in the City I live in. It is so unfortunate that when Don passed his boys ... The selection is no longer conducive to my families needs. The cost of shopping there is astronomical and they cater to more of a Seattle palette/income. While I can appreciate that many have moved here to get out of the Seattle scenario. Why then demand Seattle where it never was, seems to defeat the purpose. The store is so unfriendly to traverse, aisles are blocked with pallets and cardboard structures, completely preventing multiple shoppers from traversing anywhere. Staff who was originally displaced when Haggen became Albertsons, (Please recognize the ownership on the building, I feel Albertsons misrepresenting themselves as Haggen is not what Don had in mind) such bad news as each an everyone of the former employees were a staple in the communities day to day experiences. A mourning situation for all, Pharmacy included (Huge turnover, continuous turnover) Does this not alarm anyone? Albertson's disguised as Haggen is for profit only and provides no benefit to the community that originally embraced Haggen's. read more

The pharmacy is wildly incompetent. I called 6 times to get my prescription refilled, they did not answer. When I finally got ahold of someone they tried to refill it for next day, as it was needed immediately I explained that was pretty unacceptable. They said they would have it filled in 2 hours, 6 HOURS LATER, it still wasn't ready. Unbelievable, my advice would be to use ANY other pharmacy. read more

It's a really nice grocery store. Across-the-board, it does seem as though it's about 20% more expensive than competing grocery stores. But if you're looking for specialty items, like floral, cakes, deli... they really do a fantastic job. Just expect to pay more for it. I would say that my experience there is that the staff level of customer service is about average. read more

Dear Haggen Pharmacy, when we made our appointments for flu shots, we chose a time that was convenient for us, completed all the "paperwork " information online and showed up 15 minutes early. The front pharmacy counter staff was EXCELLENT! Katie and another lady (always smiling, blond? and in good humor) processed our information and then.... Nothing. We waited. And waited. We did let them Know we had another appointment after this but they told us if we left, they were completely booked and we would have to go back online and reschedule. By the time we did get our shots we had waited 45 Minutes! Sorry but that is NOT acceptable! It's nice that you are now a provider on our insurance and also the 10% off grocery coupons we received for getting shots at Haggen's also super nice! I did overhear something about appointments being double booked? We do LOVE your store but this was our first impression of the pharmacy department .. We get Chinese food at least once a week and are always pleased with the portions, price and quality of the food. Today we got our Chinese food and we were so disappointed in not only the taste but portions and price of the food. What happened? Not only did the price go up by 2$ the chow mein was tasteless and the portions were half the size. According to the lady that helped us we weren't the first person complaining about this. There used to be a Haggen's in Tualatin, Or I would go to occasionally. I was in my 20's and they had a fantastic micro brew selection. I didn't know Haggen's was still around until I came across this one. It was set up just like the one in tualatin so it was familiar and it had a fantastic micro brew selection, but I was there for groceries. I remember them being on the high end price wise. And here was no different, but factor in the current inflation and it wasn't a pretty number at the check out. But fully stocked, fresh veggies and meat. Deli cold and hot entrees ready eat for a quick dinner. Liquor if you want it. A quality grocery store. read more

My doctor had me call around to different pharmacies to determine which one had my prescription in stock so he could send it to be filled. I called a few who did not have my medication. I finally called Haggen Pharmacy at 2:35pm and the clerk said YES we have it. I said great, my doctor will send over the prescription and I'll swing by and pick it up. When my wife arrived she was told to wait while they fill it and after 30 minutes (which wasn't long to wait) she was called to the counter only to be told they did NOT have the medication they told me they had two hours earlier. Total lack of compassion and understanding and we're not apologetic for their error. Horrible service!!! Never will I or anyone in my family use this pharmacy. You cannot mess with people's health! read more

Great service today, sometimes it can be hit or miss here. As always the store was clean and there were plenty of carts. David helped select a tea because the one that was needed they didn't have. He put time, care and thought into it too it wasn't "having to". He really made a difference would have been lost without him. read more

I totally think they missed the boat when they bought out bunch of Albertsons and Safeway stores, they should have ran ads saying why we should shop there- and that is they have unique LOCAL products. Which is a plus IMO, I would rather buy a item made in Washington State or somewhere in the Northwest vs a item made in New York, I took a picture of the sausage footballs as I thought they looked "Cute", So while they are higher priced then other grocery stores in this area, they do have unique products you that other stores dont want to carry. I would also kinda consider then a Whole Foods wanna be, with a local connection. So overall I would slightly recommend them- but if you're tight for money don't come here. read more

Every time i begin to like this store it seems poor service gets in the way. Yesterday we stopped at the deli counter to order 3 "made to order" sandwiches. They were not busy at all. We were told they were out of "order forms" A tall heavy set guy with a surly manner was sent off to gather some.After 10 minutes of standing around a woman behind the counter asked us to write what we wanted on a plain piece of paper. MR surly then meandered back and literally grabbed the paper from my wife's hand-off he went again. Another 10 minutes. We were then told he had to bring the order to a totally different part of the store to have the sandwiches made. Who designed this system? Fortunately we had some extra time which was totally wasted by an uncaring not very busy staff. No apology. No sorry about that. And mind you most of the time the 4 employees were standing around doing nothing. This was our last time buying anything deli from this place. Their product is generally good. However given the prices they charge for most things customer service is sorely lacking. We have learned our lesson here. read more

As far as Haggen grocery stores go, this is one of my favorites. There is good parking compared to other Haggen locations. The store is larger than some of the Bellingham stores, and that allows for a better layout, easier to find products. When in Ferndale, this is where I shop. read more

I like Haggen because its fun to shop here, and its a novelty to me since I live south where Haggen does not exist. What impresses me is there GREAT produce section! Nice quality with a shiney price tag that I cringe at, but worth it. I also like their friendly bakery and meat staff who are always helpful even when I don't want to be helped =D Good selection of import beers which is always fun to shop. Again, a nice shiney price tag. This last trip, I signed up for their membership card so I could cash in on the savings this shopping trip. Don't go here for a prescription if you're military. They won't fulfill a doctor's prescription for over the counter meds (like Lidocaine or Colace) and want you to pay full price. They didn't tell me that they didn't fill the prescription so I had to find out when we got home after my husband had surgery and I thought we were finally settled in for the night! When I called she said it's available over the counter and we have to buy it, even though we have a prescription & it should be covered with AD benefits. Plus they take FOREVER to fill prescriptions. Drove to Ferndale (25 mile round trip) to get Chinese food from Haggen, which a couple of people highly recommended. I got Honey/Sesame Seed Chicken. I could have drank sipped honey straight from the bottle and got the same effect. Review: 1 star. When the guy behind the counter put it in the box, he said, "You know this came off of a chicken's ass!" Needless to say, I won't be going back. We have shopped Haggen before and after the reorganization and prices go up and up. Yesterday we discovered their plain rolls were 75 Cents each!!! This is way out of line. None of the other markets go higher than 35 to 50 cents max on similar items. In fact, most of the prices are much higher than any other of the area chain stores. Even though they do have some quality goods ,I feel ripped off when I know I can save . 20 % at most other places. Too bad..... I'll be surprised if they last many more years. read more

My go-to place for a quiet place to relax and surf (no wifi, but tethering off my awesome internet data plan lol). Have a spacious albeit a bit gloomy seating area at the far right entrance, just by the produce area, where the restrooms are too. Neat to have their sushi made right in front of you, before they package it up. Deli food beside that too. Typical, big store layout, similar to the Burlington one, less busier I would say. As per pic, Powerade on sale, 10 for $10 is better than the atmosphere at Walmart. Pretty fresh produce, own Organic section that's a real one. Washrooms far left. I don't have a problem with the store and often shop there. It's pharmacy that I am totally fed up with. Ever since the sale of Haggens, the pharmacy has continued to go down hill. I can't count how many times they have totally messed up my prescriptions. 3 months in a row they charged me full price for my meds because they have failed to run them through my insurance. At first I thought it was because I went from full insurance to supplemental, then someone else I know had the same problem with them, so I asked. Haggens pharmacy wasn't submitting through my insurance at all. Over the last few months they have cost me around $140.00. 3 times I have asked them to put my prescriptions on auto refill. But it's never been taken care of. Today I gave them my insurance card, yet again. "All straight right?! Of course not. I waited for over an hour for my prescriptions, and they tried to charge me full price again!!! My husband and I are totally disgusted and totally done! We are switching pharmacies. I showed up to my scheduled appointment at 2pm for a vaccine booster shot. The front desk person asked for my vaccine card for proof of first two shots I assume. They kept it for the doctor. After 25 minutes of waiting past my schedule appointment time I no longer could wait so I asked for my vaccine card back. The front desk lady thought she gave it back to me. I told her no one gave it back to me. She then realized the doctor had it, in return I stated I still want my vaccine card back, Then another pharmacist told me the doctor was ready but for the third time I demanded my vaccine card back. It did not matter that the doctor was ready for me 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I had other appointments and need at least 30 minutes after a shot because I get very light headed and near passing out. After 3 demands of my vaccine card back, they ignored my requests and had no other choice to leave. They currently still have my vaccine card read more

Have purchased wonderful "from scratch" pies since ferndale haggens opened years ago. Tonight I purchased a coconut cream pie. Drove 15 mile home, Cut the pie which was rather firm. Took a bite, was firmly coddled... Hard to explain. Not creamy. I called the store and the bakery said they are no longer made from scratch in the store but arrive to the store premade and frozen. This is disgusting as I paid over 10.00 I could purchase a frozen pie that tastes better from Fred Meyer or cost cutter and pay 3.99 and enjoy it more than this! Okay well I have been shopping @ Haggen on & off since I moved to Wa. State 9 years ago. This Haggen where I live n Ferndale is a very busy store. I believe this is because the only other grocery store here is Cost Cutter. I gave the store 3 stars for several reasons. The prices on most things are off the map. I have gone to Fred Meyer or another store and the identical item is two to three dollars cheaper than Haggen. If you ONLY shop the sale items then it isn't too bad. The produce is good but you have to pay way too much for it! I'd rather go to the Co-op for organic. The store does NOT have good fish that is at it's freshest. The breads are way overpriced from their bakery as is the food from the deli. Speaking of the deli, well for the prices they charge it should be way better. They have a great wine selection in the store but I have found some of the the identical wines at Trader Joe's for 3 to 4 bucks cheaper! The restroom is ALWAYS filthy and missing TP or paper towels or both! On the positive side the cheese selection is good but again very overpriced. I emphasize the high prices only because the company claims on radio ads to have low prices. Not true. And the tiny health food section prices are ridiculous. I wish they were more reasonable and would adjust their prices some for this economy. I can drive to Bellingham and even with the gas I save money compared to Haggen. 3 stars is also because I would go there before Cost Cutter. The CC here in Ferndale is not very good. I've been in worse stores than Haggen but I have also been in better more reasonable stores too. The plants & gardening section out front is nice and the fave part of the store for me. read more

I was at the Ferndale haggens looking for doughnuts. I inquired at the bakery counter to see if they had the small variety packs. The lady told me that they don't sell packaging. I responded that I wanted the doughnuts. It was 5:45 am. She then responded that the bakery doesn't open until 6. I have always gotten doughnuts at that time. Poor service haggens read more

Produce quality dropping, bakery outsourced, much higher prices, laying off employees (our friends and family), just a shame to see the transition. Maybe it's because I don't have Haggen's in my area, but I do enjoy shopping here when I'm visiting friends in the Pac NW. The low ceilings are kinda weird for me to get used to as most of the stores I frequent have the high warehouse-style ceiling. I did however - on my most recent trip - become addicted to the toasted corn nuts you can buy in the bulked dry goods section. These aren't your average Corn Nuts you would get on the snack food aisle. They are lighter and have a nice crunch to them and you don't feel like you'll crack a tooth when you eat them. The staff have always been pleasant & helpful when we need anything. Even when there's long lines, things move quickly through the check out. read more

Well, Yes, the prices are very high, much like the Metro. But, its a great place for specialty items and quality service. Its odd that it is in this location as the surrounding area is less than wealthy. The store is geared toward supporting Washington growers and providers which is a plus but then again, you pay extra for the support and I am not convinced that it impacts the farmers and crafts people involved. read more

Never had a problem until we were followed by a "customer" who we obviously knew was an employee watching us while we shopped for an hour and a half. My mom asked him to please stop following us and he just ignored us and acted as if he didn't hear us.When we asked the cashier about him he claimed they don't know anything about it and then he got in line right behind us with three items and still didn't say anything. the cashiers looked uneasy and they all started talking to each other after we started walking out and he never left the store after we got to our car.
