I noticed most of the reviews for Grocery Outlet in Ferndale are outdated. We have been going there for the past year and find that things have not changed much from the past. It is still a wonderful place to shop, clean and there are bargains galore. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The selection may not be there all the time but the prices for top brand items are always cheaper than any other store. We have told several of our friends to detour off I 5 and shop there. I have been to every Grocery Outlet in Whatcom County. Although I appreciate them all, Ferndale has something the others don't. The staff is exceptional and will get back to them in a minute. The store is immaculate. It's very clean and organized. They have the best choices of food. I am not vegetarian but rarely eat meat. They have a huge selection of vegetarian proteins and organic foods at prices that I have never seen so affordable. Everything is affordable and most foods are Name brand, local, organic and even gourmet. For myself, I have a budget but even when I didn't, I always shopped here anyway. Why would I pay $6 for the bread I like when I can pay $2. Some things you won't find though, which is just fine. The other thing is they don't always carry the same things in stock. That's ok too. The biggest thing for me is customer service and how well their employees are treated. They seem happy to be there and that's big on my book. Customer service can't be beat and I will give you an example why.... Less than a week ago, I was shopping too late when they were near closing. I try to keep track of my spending but always fail and having a strict food budget, it's always stressful when I have to put things aside at the register. This night was the worst for me as I was running through the store, grabbing essentials and immediately losing track of cost. I get to the register, and I'm waaay over budget by over $30. I tell the cashier my mistake and it suddenly feels like someone turned up the heat in there. The cashier says don't worry about it, as I'm starting to look for items to put back. The cashier again says, "Don't worry about it. I got you covered."! He pulls out his card and runs it for the remaining. I stood there in shock and said, " Are you serious? Nobody ever does this?" He looks at me and says, "Welcome to Grocery Outlet." If I wasn't wearing a mask, they would have seen my jaw had dropped and somehow was able to smile and say thank you at the same time. I cannot tell you how much that meant to me. I still feel like I won some lottery or something. That never happens! Thanks guys!! read more

A few weeks ago I had my first experience with the Grocery Outlet chain. A coworker referred me and mentioned that they had great deals on ice cream. This particular store has only been open a few months now, but I can say from my first two visits that this is my new favorite store across the border(Sorry Trader Joe's!). The layout of the store is clean and well thought-out. Things are generally where you would expect them, though being new this store still has a few kinks to iron out so to speak. There's a reasonably small selection of produce, but what they do have is of good quality. I bought a miniscule package of three New Zealand apples for $1. While small in size, they packed a nice flavor. Among other things, I also bought a number of PowerBars at 3 for $1 - a steal if you ask me. Lastly they had some unique flavours of Lindt chocolates - 100g bars for $2 if I'm not mistaken. They have a wide assortment of things here. You might not find everything on your list - lemonade for instance was curiously missing from ours - but what they do have is generally priced well below their competition. I found they have pots and pans, water bottles, laundry supplies, frozen foods and cereals among many other things. In my few interactions, the staff were exceedingly friendly and happy to help. A nice surprise! While I didn't quite find the ice cream as appealing, I came away with an excellent impression of the Ferndale Grocery Outlet. I'll definitely be back. read more

I stopped in here to pick up a couple things on the way home. It was interesting, lots of brands that I was not familiar with. If you remember the previous occupant (Cost Cutter), the Grocery Outlet is much smaller, perhaps using only half the space. The parking lot appears to have been repaved lately, and it is an improvement over the previous store that was here. Nothing special, but not bad. read more

as an expert on grocery outlets I rate this one above average. clean and well maintained. but for some reason it seems on the smaller than average size. that aside, whenever I am near them and have the time I always will stop in to see what they might have that the Bellingham outlet does not. not every GO has the same inventory. maybe 90% the same but that 10% could have some very exciting stuff !!!! so do check them out if you can ! read more

I have had so much kindness at this store in Ferndale wa. Not just once but every time I'm there! I am a senior on oxygen plus can not walk far,so need a cart and help unloading my groceries and loading them into the car.such kindness !!they never make me feel rushed or a bother! I love this store. It's so fun to go through every so often and see what new and interesting things they have. I got a mermaid tail blanket for $10 once score! They also have a bunch of natural and organic stuff for cheap. Always something new. One thing about this store if you are buying food just make sure you check the expiration date. It's also so fun to see how much money you saved after you check out if you had bought all that stuff at other stores. read more

I come to the Grocery Outlet looking for cheap bargains on items such as Cake, Bread, Hot Dogs, Buns, as such. The prices are good. We needed help as cake was difficult to find. Sawyer was particularly helpful in the decision of cake. I was surprised you could get 8 hot dogs for $5 and 20 hot dogs for $2. Wow. To conclude, I feel overly partial in my satisfaction. If you put up more signs I would feel more relieved and more inclined to participate in the buying of your products. read more

I am so over The Grocery Outlet. When In first learned that The Grocery Outlet was coming to Ferndale, I was very excited. I visited shortly after their opening, I made my first visit. The store is quite unorganized. There are like items in different rows, making finding the item you want quite difficult. Any clerk I came across while shopping was completely oblivious to my presence. I was underwhelmed, but figured that the store was new. I should give them another chance. My second visit was not better. The store still seems unorganized and many of the price tags are handwritten. On my first visit I was told by an employee that I could use a manufactures coupon if they carried the exact product. For my second visit I brought a Coca Cola coupon that I received directly from the Coca cola company, they would not take it. The level of customer service has not improved.
