White Truffle potato chips was 6/10 .. everything but bagel seasoning chips is a must try if you only want to get a few things!! UBE anything for me is a must !! Did not regret ! It's always good at TJ's. This was a quick stop to get fresh flowers and a picnic lunch for friends and their young children. I felt compelled to pick up my favorite chocolate bar with hazelnuts: milk chocolate and dark chocolate bars. Great store with a great selection and staff. read more

When we go shopping across the border, it's really about the selection for me and not about the prices. One place we like to shop at across the border is Trader Joe's. We don't go there every single time as it's a bit farther out than the rest of the stores that we like to frequent. Once in awhile though we make it out to Trader Joe's. There are no brand name items at Trader Joe's; rather, the goods they carry are all their own unique Trader Joe's brand items. On our most recent trip to Trader Joe's I picked up this bag of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter Cups. I have a bit of an aversion to Peanuts and anything derived from peanuts which means I'm not into Peanut Butter Cups. I do like Sunflower Seed Butter though, and so does our daughter. It's also a much safer alternative to Peanut Butter as you never know when you're going to come across someone who has a nut allergy. We loved these Sunflower Seed Butter Cups. It works so nicely combined with the dark chocolate. Plus, I love how small they are. One of the most hipster feel-good places in the heart of Bellingham. Finally had a chance to see what the hype was all about. Parking is plentiful in front of the store. The lot sure fills up though. This place is popular. I imagine everything here is organic. The place was bustling. Even the staff seem quite happy here. Pretty impressive I must say. The theme is outdoorsy. Reminds me of hiking, with all the signposts and the sky and forest themes. The pricing wasn't as crazy expensive as I thought it would be. I thought it would be up there with something like Whole Foods. Nope. This was really nice as I thought I was going to leave empty handed. Definitely worth a trip out. Lastly, the taco sauce they sell there is seriously good. So good that I now use it on non Mexican food. Now to ration it until my next visit. read more

Trader's a must stop whenever we head south , especially now that Pirate Joe ( ! ) is long gone . Sigh . That's definitely a topic for another day but I digress . Other than reasonably-priced grocery items TJ's also have some very decent-for-the-price household goodies . A prime example is their oil-free antioxidant facial moisturizer . Yep dudes deserve some TLC too when it comes to their often neglected skin ! This great product leaves no shine and is both fragrance and paraben-free . I am updating my review based on my most recent shopping experience during the coronavirus pandemic (April 4, 2020) in order to give you an idea of what to expect at the store. Social Distancing They limit the number of people shopping inside at any given moment. I arrived at the store early in the afternoon on Saturday. There were about 7 or 8 parties ahead of me waiting to get into the store. They have marked the ground with tape so that those who are waiting in line can leave proper social distance (although it looked shorter than 6 feet). I probably waited for 20 minutes before I got to go inside. Store Shelves What shocked me was that they were really well stocked. I wouldn't have guessed we were amid coronavirus pandemic. There was one thing I could not find (one Italian wine) but other than that I was able to find everything I needed to purchase. COVID-19 Response They had opened every other checkout stand so that people can keep social distance while waiting to check out. When I was there, all the cashiers were wearing a mask, but not all of them were wearing gloves. What disturbed me is that several Trader Joe's employees who I think are managers made a small circle by the checkout area and they were chatting. No masks, no gloves, nothing. I highly doubt that was a meeting, but if it were, they should have done that somewhere else. Minus one star for that. There were a couple of employees in front of the store to clean the carts as they come back. Five stars for the store and no stars for the Mad Max-esque parking lot experience. If you go to this particular TJ's you know of what I speak. We make a point of stopping in whenever we are up that way or we just go because we need to. We might be closer the Everett location but the risk of being a crime victim there is much higher than B'ham. TJ's has some unique stuff you can't find in a big box grocery store and it has a local feel. I really like the variety of pre-packaged salads. I usually stock up on those. They also have frozen complete meals in bags. Asian type stuff mostly like Kung-Pao chicken and the like. It can get so crowded in there it can feel like you're in a track meet racing through the aisles jockeying for position. Banging shopping carts when four wide around an end cap! The check out process goes fast and don't forget your reusable grocery bags. read more

"Shut up and take my money!" I never leave this store empty handed on every visit, just love everything here from chips, cheese, salsa and frozen section. They got the best chips ever! I always look forward coming here since their chips aren't salty at all. Baked cheezies and tortilla chips are my favourite things to buy. Japanese fried rice is fantastic as well. My besty and I love that one! I like the sampling section at the corner as well. Their coffee is amazing everytime! I miss buying their 2lb organic pears it was pretty good. Staff were helpful and friendly. Anyways TJ is a dangerous store to my wallet. Everything is just tasty and fantastic here. read more

I'm a decades-long TJ's shopper (and fan of the products and service!) in multiple locations including Los Angeles, Seattle and Bellingham. While I often try to assist in bagging my groceries (and do a terrible job :), I've never been requested to do until yesterday. At TJ's in Bellingham, I was distracted responding to work emails on my phone when Kayla B. advised me to "get started on bagging my groceries" and then she could "help when done ringing" (it should be noted that she did not bag ANY groceries and instead left anything I did not bag, simply sitting in the cart - thanks a lot, Kayla!). I hope she was simply having an off day and that her service approach is not an indication of the overall service culture of the B'ham TJs. read more

The Bellingham Trader Joe's is in my opinion a very difficult place to ship. The parking is not only inadequate it is full of people that for some reason seem to lack a sense of direction. As far as the shopping experience; the workers are awesome and very friendly. The store is to small and always seems to be chaotic. I think the shoppers push their carts the same way they drive and many leave their manners at home. I like a lot of the items you can buy there they just need to move to a larger location with better parking and maybe the shoppers would then be able to chill. read more

I have always had excellent service at Trader Joe's. I have my regular products I always go for. However, sometimes I can't find a certain item. I went to the service area and spoke with an employee. They are happy to help you find the product in case it moved and they can also look up inventory to see if there's any in the store or if it's been discontinued. The products are also quality and delicious. I have my eye on a basil plant that I will buy when the weather is warmer. I bought a basil plant from another grocery store and it was the same price but much smaller and it died the next day. The one at TJ's was full and the plant seemed healthy. I will always be back to Trader Joe's. read more

There is stuff that you cannot get in Canada. Since moving to Vancouver, I've regularly visited Bellingham to hit up Target and TJ Maxx, get gas, and do other errands in the States, not knowing there was a Trader Joe's right here in town. How on earth did I miss this??? When I lived in Redmond, WA for 25 years, I visited TJ's at least once a week. Before one opened up down the street from my, I used to go to the Bellevue and Kirkland TJ's. They all are very similar, and the all are AWESOME. And I am so so so glad to report that this one here in B'ham is also fabulous (despite the hazardous drivers in the wonky parking lot)! I'm not going to reiterate what all the others have said about this fantastic chain of stores, and this one in particular. I'll just add some facts that others haven't mentioned: -starting in September, and running to December, TJ's has the most amazing selection of seasonal foods (i.e. pumpkin-, cranberry-, apple- based foods). From cookies to crackers, pancake and bread mixes, gourmet chocolates and frozen cakes, beverages, cereals, granola bars, soups, candles and organic skin care items and more, all at shockingly low prices (like all their other items). I usually got my pumpkins here too, as they were always in better shape and bigger and cheaper than anywhere else around. They also have a lot of Xmas items come December, including adorable advent calendars with chocolates (for under $2!) but their fall/Thanksgiving/Halloween pumpkin items really are exceptional in selection and scope and price. -they always have lovely greeting cards, and for at least the last 15 years, they've been 99 cents each. Wow. -they have a robust selection of flowers and plants, some cut, some potted, some in seasonal planters. Healthy and cheap! -they also have some cute wine bags in their wine area, and these bags cost 69 cents each. Why go elsewhere to get wine gift bags for double or triple this price (even at Fred Meyers, I priced wine gift bags at $2.99 and more). -wine. They always had a super wine selection - and some of their wines win blind taste tests every year. And they're all for a steal! (I noticed now they also have liquors and spirits. This is fairly new. They didn't used to have liquors). -they have a station in the back where they cook their products and have samples for customers to taste. Today they were sampling their roast beef with horseradish aoli sauce. So good, I picked up a jar of the aoil. This is how they get you. -they're known for their organic skin care and pet treats. -they're also known for their large selections of olive oils and vinegars. -I used to buy all my produce here. They were all fantastic and, like everything else, priced so low. -they don't have sales at TJ's. You can be assured that the items you buy today won't be on sale next week. They're all priced at an everyday low price. -there are always a ton of employees on the floor and available to help you find items, and they are all super knowledgeable about their product lines. And I've only known them to be friendly and helpful. -their ready-made salads have always been a huge hit with my family, and their frozen food department is wonderful. -their bathrooms are always clean. -oh, and one more thing that many people don't know about TJ's: you can ask to try anything before you buy it, and they will open the box for you to try. AND if you get something and don't like it, you can return it, opened and "used", and they'll refund you, no problem, no question asked. I know this review is lengthy, but I really am so impressed by this store (and all TJ stores), as their business model and customer service philosophy is unrivaled (on a par with Costco and Nordstrom). These businesses really put the customer first, and make the shopping experience top-notch. And there are no surprises: the store is consistently excellent, regardless where you shop. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could. After multiple visits and the employees ringing me up while complaining I have been turned off from shopping here. They complain about being at work, saying that their day isn't going well and overall sense of not being appreciated as a paying customer. I'll find anywhere else to shop that will appreciate and provide better customer service to a loyal shopper. Also chatting about how weird it is I want toilet paper in its own bag like I'm being hard to deal with, nope I was polite... Just know how I want my bags put together as a fellow grocery worker. I shop at this Trader Joe all the time. Yes its my must go store every time I am in the states. They have pretty good deals especially on organic things. Wines are very cheap here but I am not a drinker so I usually don't buy alcohol here. So my favorite items are their frozen food Kung Pao Chicken $4.99 Shitaki Chicken $4.99 Mandarin Chicken $4.99 They also have things you don't expect that exist like Chocolate covered chips Their seasoning are awesome for $1.99+. My favorite is the garlic salt. My other favorite items are their organic soup $2.99+ (favorite is the Roasted Pepper Soup and my mom loves their organic squash soup) OMG I think if I had to list all their good stuff this review would be an essay!!! Parking is ok. Well its in a mall but the only issue is more than or majority of the customers at this mall are here for Trader Joe's. I love TJ! read more

I'm finding myself coming here more and more, especially for salad making yumminess! Everything from ready made chicken, vegetables and fruit and awesome salad dressing flavors not in other stores; think avocado cilantro or mango and citrus. The prices are a little high, you can certainly find cheaper prices, but they also carry items not found in other grocery stores. I still cringe when pulling into the parking lot. It's tight and am always scared someone is going to back into me. So, be watchful when coming and going. I'll come here any day over Whole Foods, and can find some really great items, lots of organic choices, and always friendly staff. read more

I've had a lot of people ask me if I have been to Trader Joe's. Yesterday, I went to check out the store for the first time in Bellingham and I had to drive through a quiet residential neighbourhood to get there. From the outside, this location looked a lot like a Safeway from the 1970's, though I didn't come here for the outer appearance. Inside, it's as big as a Safeway, but they sell similar products you would find at a store such as Whole Foods - organic, local, emphasis on fruits and vegetables, natural, whole grain, high fibre, gluten free, low sodium, etc. Since it's a supermarket, they also sell have a bakery, meat, seafood section too. Although I'm not totally sold on organic for everything, their organic produce is more affordable than a store such a Whole Foods, or what most people call it "Whole Paycheque". For the price for non-organic elsewhere, you could get organic fruits or vegetables for a similar price at Trader Joe's. I picked up some of their store brand "green plant" juice with spirulina and barley grass, tomato basil marinara sauce, and eggs. I tried the green plant drink which looks like green lake water, but it tasted pretty good since it also contained a variety of fruit juices too. They also sell alcoholic products such as wine and beer which somewhat surprised me because one would never find these products in a similar store in Canada - but I was in the U.S. and it's a different country. I can't see myself driving all the way to Bellingham to shop at Trader's Joe's, but if I was in the area for some major shopping, I would definately make it trip to this place. The best way to probably put this is that it is a Walmart for your organic needs. Definitely one of my grocery stops on a monthly basis due to the affordable prices of going organic (which seems to be the big thing nowadays!), and it also seems to be a mass stop for British Columbia license plated cars, mine included. If your looking to eat a little healthier and wanting to go this revolutionary route, whether you go the processed food route (healthy but unhealthy) or the raw foods you pretty well served here. From the Hawaiian like looks of the store fixtures and the staff in t-shirts with the Trader Joe's logo, if you have been to one in America, you know the set-up. Are there any sale prices, from a Canadian's point of view the whole store looks like it is on sale as the prices are fair to cheap. In the back they usually have someone preparing samples, and at that station there also is free sample coffee, everyday the food is different, some are hit and some are miss but you get some freebies here. From my hoarding fellow Canadians who are loading their shopping carts like the next armageddon is about to hit and a nuclear winter will keep them in for a long time, you see people buy, buy, buy like money is no object here. The people who work here are great at moving the line, as you don't see the massive conveyor belt style checkout's, but what you see here are a whole bunch of checkouts, usually all open, small, but always willing and ready to serve, and they do a good job at bagging too from what I find. They always double bag in paper, and their bags are durable. Where Trader Joe's can pass the savings to you is that most of their stuff is all in-house, all branded 'TJ's' candy, chocolate, yogurt, chips, salt, spices, you name it, so there is no middle man. Oh, there is booze here to go along with your food, or if you just want liquor they are a grocery store afterall. When you come here, or if you come here for the first time, be warned that the prices you see and by the time you pay, you will be hooked to this place and you won't mind spending X amount of dollars for more groceries than you bargained for. read more

I was late to the party discovering Trader's but now am a devoted fan! There's so much to love about this store...except the parking, which can be nerve-wracking depending on the time of day. Selection, selection, selection combined with fantastic prices and excellent customer service. Love the Fearless Flyer mailed monthly which includes recipes and shopping lists. But, this is the type of store you always end up picking up more than is on your list. Large selection of GF and healthy items, grab-and-go lunches, salads, and snacks. Samples abound throughout the store but also staff will open up packages in the aisle for you to sample. Seasonal items, especially for the Holidays and entertaining.
