The diagnosis was free and accurate (this is the main reason for 4 stars). However, the issue is that the quoted replacement part was extremely high, and the quoted labor cost for replacement covered about one hour of work. I guess that the "free" diagnosis won't be free after all if I followed up and agreed to proceed. Speaking of time, the replacement part is no longer available new anywhere, and if I had bought a correct replacement, it would take less than 10 minutes to replace it. The alternative repair was done by me/DIY by following a YouTube video, and no parts were required.

The repair company who had previously serviced our laundry machinery very well now has a Yelp profile which indicates that honesty or customer service is no longer a priority. The stage was set for some further online digging, and those efforts unearthed American Appliance Service. I called Nicole last Wednesday, requesting an in-home check of the washer for Monday. Nicole was pleasant and business-like. However, in my book, four hour arrival windows indicate customer contempt, poor management or both. I wasn't happy with this "policy," but in fairness, having a relatively new, premium brand washer catastrophically fail was as much grief as I was willing to acknowledge at the time. John arrived about fifteen minutes before the end of the four hour block, but got busy immediately and gave every impression of knowing exactly what he was doing. After disassembling the washer down to the driveshaft the verdict was, unfortunately, quite clear. Low-grade Chinese "stainless steel" had corroded and worn to the point of stopping the machine. Further, the parts and labor to replace this driveshaft exceeded the cost of replacing the machine. Conversation with John indicated that he had just encountered the same problem with his home washer. Discussions of his experiences produced a "lesson learned;" it seems that whether the brand is Whirlpool/Maytag, General Electric/Haier or most of the popular labels, laundry machinery is now being built to the low standards of "planned obsolescence" (5-7 years, at best). While such practices with $400-$1,200 equipment are an absolute obscenity, the fault wasn't John's. We were charged only for the $75 house call, and went shopping for a replacement that evening. Located was an LG model with a direct-drive motor and ten year warranty-- hopefully we have better luck. John's diagnostic work was top-notch, and although we didn't have the opportunity to test his repair skills-- and hope that we won't have to for the next ten years-- American Appliance Service would be our preferred vendor.

Was quick checkout and tech guys were able to answer all questions ... billing was quick too. Lots of parking outside . Very few times I have had issues returning stuff at Best Buy and they also charge restocking fee . That's the only issue with not buying bigger items in BB. If not for the returns love this shop ..

We have spent an extraordinary amount of money in both of these stores. We rarely need to make returns, but we just had a recent instance of having to return 5 bags of polymeric sand because we decided to have the job done by a contractor. I saved the receipt and my husband went to the store to return the sand. It was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience to learn that there is a 90 day window on returns (with receipt) and NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED FOR A RESELLABLE ITEM such as polymeric sand! Needless to say, we have made our LAST purchase at Lowes and I will be sharing this VERY NEGATIVE experience EVERYWHERE I can.

So I gave him a second chance and bought a dishwasher, a microwave, a washer, dryer combo, a stove for a rental. At this point I'm loosing money on renting the apt because my tile installer can't do the counter top or backsplash without all items in their respectful place. When the items were not delivered I told Sal my sales person that I needed the microwave asap or it would be a domino effect affecting other trades from doing their job and duration of the job. He could not fix the problem and said the items would get delivered today. So Stella, the delivery company that they use which is equally as miserable as Seemore appliances delivered the refrigerator. The item that I need the least right now I contacted Seemore, cell the sales person, and informed him he gave me a phone number to speak with Marissa. She was equally useless. My condo association required a ventless dryer, I had limited space, and I didn't want to go through the hassle of bringing in an electrician to change out the existing 240V power receptacle for a standard 120V. I'd also gone through a nightmare with a salesperson at another appliance dealer who lacked attention to detail and frankly had a rotten attitude. When I found a w/d set that would satisfy all of my requirements, I couldn't find the dryer anywhere. Needless to say, I was getting discouraged. Having had positive experiences with P.C. Richard on smaller items in the past, I checked their website to find that they carried both units AND they were on sale. When I got to the store, Kevin M. helped me out, even showing me a couple of discounted (scratch & dent/refurbished) units in addition to the showroom models. After the sale, Kevin kept me updated on the status of my order and even asked me to take a photo of the 240V receptacle to assure we'd settled on the right units. (This was huge for me, as the salesperson at the first place I went to never bothered to ask, and in fact, sold me a 120V unit.) When the stacking piece was delayed, he offered a creative solution so that I'd get the washer and dryer in a timely fashion. On delivery day, the installers actually came *early* and did a great job removing my old w/d and setting up the new ones. I was impressed with their efficiency, attention to detail and that they took all of the packaging material with them when they left. All in all, a great experience! Bravo to Kevin and the team.
