Excellent customer service here. I recently purchased a nice sleeper sofa from these guys. We were super excited but unfortunately one of the parts came defective. We asked the manufacturer for replacement parts and they sent us the wrong parts! Initially it was a really frustrating situations but the folks at Haiku took our side and made sure we were really well taken care of. They coordinated the expedited shipping of the correct part, and even sent a crew to come pick up the incorrect and damaged parts directly from our home so we didn't have to deal with the disposal. Everything worked out well in the end despite the initial hiccup, which to be clear wasn't even their fault. I was really impressed by the way they handled the situation. Long story short, when it comes to buying expensive furniture pieces, what's more important than having good customer service to back you up? The team at Haiku went above and beyond to make sure our issue was taken care of. They frequently checked in to give us status updates and ask if we needed anything else. I WILL NOT MAKE ANOTHER PURCHASE I ordered a hand painted 3 panel room divider screen that was described as appearing "slightly distressed". What I received looked like something one would find at a yard sale rather than purchase from a quality furniture store. I contacted them and after sending them photos of the screen they agreed to allow me to return it. However, it was my responsibility to pay the shipping charges and a 20% restocking fee. This resulted in my having paid $148 for shipping it back and a $100 restocking fee. Be very cautious and read the description thoroughly so you know exactly what you are purchasing. read more

My experience with Haiku designs was great. I emailed them asking about what the ship/wait time would be on the Tatami Bed frame and matching side tables. They emailed back within 24 hours and shared it would take 10 days or less to reach the address provided to them. I then ordered based on that timeline as I was in need of a bed frame. It arrived in 10 days or less as they told me which was wonderful. The packaging of the bed frame was very very well done. We only had 1 damaged piece out of the entire lot which ended up being the headboard as it was on the bottom of the pallet. My best furniture experience yet as typically I always have damage on my items on multiple pieces. The headboard also had wood filler on certain spots (non-bedroom facing) and some areas where the coating on the wood seem to be crumbling away. Reached out to Haiku Designs with the issues and the website shows they will take care of any damage issues as long as you reach out within 48 hours of receiving the furniture which I did. Evan at Haiku Designs responded to my email and was not happy about the wood filler and apologized for the damage and said he would be working with his manufacturer to make it so this doesn't happen in the future. He offered to send us a new headboard or provide a refund for the headboard cost. We opted for the refund as we were very happy with the bed as is without the headboard. I had purchased from this company many years ago and was very satisfied with their furniture and service along with great communication.Recently i did business with them and i would never recommend them to any client or business. To begin, the new owner does not seem to be at all interested in his clientele. There have been several issues I could not resolve with staff and emailed owner. No response whatsoever. the apparent second in command is rather fisty with no ability to discuss errors on the companies part and come to a resolution that satisfied both the company and this designer. Promises were made about delivery..all broken.Some furniture sat in warehouse for months and then i was charged a restocking fee along with redelivery fee for damaged furniture that was delivered despite cancellation. read their website carefully if you intend to buy any of their products and get it in writing. do not pay in advance. the refund i received was half the amount paid and i am now stuck with two mattresses and one bedframe. i will notify better business bureau and consumer affairs. read more

I purchased the Raku Tatami Bed in the natural wood king size. I'm quite unhappy as I did not expect that the wood would be many pieces of wood bonded together with unattractive joints that are visible from at least 15 feet away. The description of the product says "all slats are solid wood" and "the Raku bed is made from solid Para wood". This is very misleading language. This is also marketed as an eco product, but there is no certification as to the non-toxic products used. There is a definite strong chemical smell from the wood slats. I was impressed by the fast shipping, and how the product fits together like a puzzle. But advertising this as solid wood is false advertising. Also, I tried to leave a negative review on their website and it never showed up. So FWIW, they are only putting positive reviews on their site. read more

I'm not a fan of down comforters - I hate it when the feathers get everywhere. I've always had silk comforters from China - they were thick, heavy and warm but never the right size. I guess at that time people in China didn't have Queen or King sized beds. Or shared blankets. I wanted a lightweight silk comforter that was warm and the right size. I searched on various sites for silk blankets and found Haiku Designs. I ordered their "Sweet Dreams" Natural Silk Comforter in Queen size, made with Tussah silk. http://www.haikudesigns.com/silk-comforters.htm According to their website, "Tussah is denser, more insulating than spun silk, resulting in greater warmth for less bulk. Tussah silk is also less processed without chemicals, chlorine, and manufactured in Germany to European Eco Standards." It has an organic cotton cover and the silk is made without synthetic dyes or chemicals. I liked that they had free shipping.....comforter arrived quickly, was packed well and super light. I was impressed by how thin and warm the blanket was and had a great night's sleep. It was the best sleep I've had in a long time and for an insomniac like me, that's like finding the holy grail. read more

I purchased a bed that I love made by Copeland. The installer put a screw through the base and cracked the wood. I have been dealing with Haiku's customer service dept. and they have been exceptionally nice. The company sent out a replacement piece which did not exactly match the finish and Evan has been interfacing to get the correct piece shipped. I believe in small family run businesses and this is a great one. It is the manufacturer's problem. read more

Review Update - Haiku Designs has been responsive to my dissafisfaction with their return process after I contacted them. We did find the Natural Sleep Merino Wool Organic Mattress Topper in King and 2 Natural Sleep Merino Wool Organic Pillows too firm for our purpose of providing extra padding at the pressure points for side sleeping. We returned the products after inquiring how to and paid for return shipping and were charged for the original shipping. To avoid a ranting negative review I'll start with a just the facts and a list of events that you can use to decide if this is a company that you want to do business with. 5/31/18 - Placed order online for the Luna Bed 6/13/18 - 2 of 3 boxes delivered. Both boxes were severely damaged. Contacted Haiku Designs for replacement bed. 7/12/18 - Disposed of damaged bed after never hearing what to do with it after repeated attempts to have it picked up. Notice this is a month after I received the damaged bed. 7/18/18 - Second bed delivered to shipping facility for pickup. I decided to pick the bed up instead of having it delivered to avoid possible damage. 7/30/18 - Picked up second bed at shipping facility. Second bed also damaged, called Haiku Designs to cancel order and request refund. 8/15/18 - Haiku Designs picks up second damaged bed, still have not issued refund. 8/28/18 - Haiku Designs finally issues me a refund, nearly a full month after I took possession of the damaged bed and two weeks after they reclaimed the bed. So in summary I placed an order for a bed in May and after 3 months Haiku Designs was unable to deliver a bed that was not damaged. Communication with this company was terrible, they knew I was frustrated and just wanted to get my issues resolved yet they never updated me on what to do with the damaged bed, status of my refund and never offered to compensate me for anything unless I asked first. The customer service of this company is truly terrible and I honestly don't understand how they are still in business. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Oh, I also noticed that for my specific bed, you could buy it off Amazon for $300 less than what Haiku Designs was charging. read more

i will start by saying I bought a queen size bed back in 2016 and was extremely happy with my purchase. I wish i would have purchased the entire set. unfortunately I didn't have the money of the time to do that. fast forward to march of 2022. I went ahead and purchased the two nightstands and the headboard for the raku tatami bed And two night stands. When ordering them I figured maybe 3 weeks till they arrived. A week later I got an email stating they were on back order and should arrive sometime with in a month or so. Not a big deal. every so often I would call to find out the status. I was told in Late April it would be July... In July I was told august....In august I was told September... In September I was told November and not I'm told sometime in December. I recently ordered a bed frame from here and it took over 6 weeks for it to be shipped to me; when their website clearly states that it will ship in 1-3 weeks. When I contacted their customer support, I was lied to multiple times about when my bed frame would be shipped out, and ever time the shipping was extended farther out. Great experience at Haiku Designs. We decided to make the trip up to Boulder from Colorado Springs. Linda (I believe that was her name) was very helpful in explaining everything. We ultimately decided on the Luna Bed (Cal King) and two night stands. They didn't have any on display at their shop so we went on that design based on talking with Linda and the website. It finally arrived and I can say they packed it very well and it was in good condition. The Luna is solid wood and pretty heavy, so it took me and my wife to bring it up stairs and put it together. I purchased a bed frame and Tatami mattresses from them. I had two months of back and forth communication with them and lost patience with this company. They don't inform you information regarding your order in advance. They kept telling me that they will have an update in a few weeks and will contact me...or that they will send me a shipment information - they did none of the things they told me over the phone, instead kept delaying things. The worst part is that I had no idea how long it takes for me to receive the items I ordered. So I canceled my order. It still frustrates me when I think about what happened. I ordered the verona platform bed collection. I was extremely disappointed when I opened the box. The quality was not as expected. I could have gone to Ikea and bought a bed with better quality priced appropriately. To return the furniture would have cost me almost half of what I paid for it. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I bought it for my bedroom and decided to put it in my spare room. My old platform bed will remain in my master. I purchase a sleek sofa/bed combo from Haiku Designs in December 2011. It gradually fell apart and must be replace now. As it was in my guest room, it never got very much use. Maybe 4 times a year at the most. There is no excuse for such poor quality and such a high price tag. I purchased my living room sofa at the same time from another company. I ordered the Eco-Comfort Deluxe mattress from Haiku Designs & the Raku bed to go with it. I love them both! They look great in my room & the mattress is so comfortable. I live close to the showroom in Boulder so I was able to go in & check out the mattresses myself. The sales manager, Gary was very helpful, telling me all about the different options. I decided to get the raku bed without the tatami mats & I feel like the slats give me plenty of support without them. Because I live close by, they had everything delivered to the warehouse so I was able to pick it up & save on the shipping. I thought it was very considerate customer service to offer me this option. I ordered 3 items one week ago. So far I received two out of the three items and they are of very good quality. There was some kind of confusion with my order and my personal information, therefore I never received shipping confirmation, tracking number or invoices. I contacted the customer service and they made all the correction. It sounded like they have some kind of organizational issues, but at list customer service is pretty helpful and polite. As far as the quality, I am totally satisfied: I ordered a kakebuton and a 100% organic cotton duvet cover. I don't know about the mattress cover yet, but I am sure I won't be deluded. Recently I purchased the 'Sweet Dreams' Natural Tussah Silk Comforter from Haiku Designs. My son has mild asthma and I'm always looking for ways to improve the home environment so armed with questions, I called Haiku Designs. The customer service rep I spoke with was very patient while I rattled off my concerns and she answered with such confidence that I ordered it and I'm so glad I did! The comforter arrived within 5 days and my son loves it! The fabric is so soft and though it's not very thick, the silk and cotton combination really keeps him warm, like a 'cocoon' he says! I just wanted to express my gratitude to the folks at Haiku designs for helping my wife and I to pick out the perfect bed. We were both experiencing back pain due to the fact that our old mattress had worn out. I like a harder mattress while my wife prefers a medium hardness. We were able to order a mattress split down the middle with the two different hardness ratings. It works perfectly for both of us and our back pains are gone. Their furniture is very cheap..looks really good online! but I ordered the chili sofa click clack back in to recline position and a bed..well it is rediculus! it is so low to the ground..when you recline it back ..the back is so low.. there is nowhere for your head! very hard!..i like firm furniture as I have a bad back..but this is hard as a rock! plus they say you have a 100% satisfaction back...well this lady is just got a attitude! plus you have to pay to ship back.. very expensive..nowhere near what you pay to get it....plus they charge you 20%.restocking fee... which for my purchase was 200 dollars.I was planning on buying the whole set..a dining room set and 2 beds..well let me tell you..the 200 dollars for their restocking fee just lost them a lot of money! I was informed that is just common practice well I order online almost 100% and I very seldom run into that! my advise..save your money....shop elsewhere! In response to thieir response... Customer Service is not part of their business culture at any level. After waiting for over 3 months to receive our bed we had to take the initiative and call the delivery people (not once but 3 times) to have the bed delivered to our house. We have had a lot of furniture deliveries and this is the first time that the boxes were dropped off and the people were out of there (much faster than a FedEx drop off) with no regard for the quality of the product delivered. All of this after we got the huge spiel that Haiku only uses local small delivery people to ensure the product arrives in pristine condition. Don't even bother calling and letting them know about your experience (they don't care). Would recommend you spend your money elsewhere. . . read more

I recently purchased an Eco Comfort Luxruy mattress from Haiku Designs, and I am amazed at the difference in my sleep. Quite amazed Really !! I would not have believed that a mattress could make that much difference. I am having the best sleep in years and sleeping every night 8-9 hours. This might not seem like a big deal to many people, but to me it is a big deal. I have not been a good sleeper for most of my life and since sleeping on this mattress that has changed. There is maybe something about the combination of firmness with just the right touch of softness that is relaxing to me. Or maybe the all natural materials.... don't know why.... but it is working great. The mattress is more than I expected. And my chronic back pain is better also. Who would have thought... We recently ordered the Tentai 6-piece dining room set and the Tentai sideboard. It was delivered promptly, but the sideboard box had some exterior damage. Sure enough, when we unpacked the sideboard, it had some significant damage to the top and end panel. After we emailed pictures of the damaged piece to Haiku Designs, we received an immediate response that the piece would be replaced. Shipping of the replacement went without a hitch and it arrived safe and sound. The furniture itself is of excellent quality, looks better than in the online photos, and we are very, very satisfied. We have had the worst experience with Haiku designs: after a very long wait to schedule delivery - longer than they said - we scheduled and the shippers that Haiku uses came and found there was no assembly instructions with the parts. After calling Haiku and trying to get the instructions and after some time, such that the shippers were leaving, the instructions came. We pleaded with the shippers and haiku to get the job done per their responsibility and the shippers left anyway. The shippers couldn't speak much english my wife sensed a fundamental inability for them to assemble the "very new bed frame" design - "so new it didn't have instructions", per Haiku. The shippers had ripped our bed cover, put a large king size mattress upside down and left with our new bed frame.The shippers called and asked when they could deliver the bed and my wife said early the next morning to which they laughed and hung up. My wife took off work to over see this and through much frustration, but we can't do this again and I have lost all trust in Haiku and the shippers to be responsible, Haiku failed to do what they were contracted to do: deliver a bed frame assembled. We sent 2 e-mails and they NEVER responded except when they e-mailed the instructions to build the bed to which they said: "in harmony, Dan" Dan may be in harmony with something, but not with reality or us. Needless to say, I would NEVER reccomend Haiku Designs to anyone!!! read more

I ordered the Mediterannean Sofabed in sage from Haiku Designs three years ago. It looks beautiful online. When I got it, the color and fabric were fine, assembly was manageable, and the piece looks pretty good. However, when it's in the sofa position, it needs to be up against a wall, as the back has a completely unfinished not-meant-to-be-seen look, which I didn't know when I ordered it. It is easy to convert to a bed, although that ease is partially offset by the fact that it has to be against a wall, so you have to slide it away from the wall every time. As a bed, it's pretty firm, but it got rave reviews from a houseguest who loves firm beds. I don't usually sleep on it. As the host, you can manage to make it up with flatsheets but it's a non-standard size so nothing's really going to fit right - don't plan on keeping it made up for an extended stay. As a sofa it's pretty narrow - it's fine for sitting, but I don't find it all that comfortable for lying down with a book. But I guess my biggest complaint is that the fabric is fraying and ripping at all the seams - including a big rip right in the middle of the sofa! It's only 3 years old - I've had sofas 10+ years without so much as a tear or a scratch, so I'm pretty disappointed. In full disclosure, I do have a teenage son who uses the couch a lot - but I haven't seen him do anything that should have caused it to rip! For what it's worth, he seems to find the couch comfortable enough. I think I could have done better for the price. read more
