It's been a week since J gave me my first curly cut, and I'm obsessed. I'd put off getting a haircut for well over a year after my last stylist stopped cutting hair, and came to see J after a recommendation. I want to start by saying that Krista has good reviews, which is why I chose her and why I decided to return for a second visit. At my first appointment, the haircut did not turn out as discussed. I shared my concerns but chose to come back a second time specifically to give her an opportunity to correct it. Unfortunately, the second visit made things significantly worse. My hair was cut even shorter and further thinned, leaving it in much poorer condition than after the first visit. During my appointment, my hair was cut while it was wet and then styled. Because of this, I did not fully see the haircut's true outcome until I washed it a few days later. At that point, it was clear that a significant amount of length and fullness had been removed and it was extremely over-texturized. At the second visit, I came prepared with an inspiration photo that included the specific cutting techniques because the haircut was specifically for thinning hair. I also clearly shared again that my hair has been falling out and that preserving fullness and structure was very important to me. Despite this, her responses were dismissive and unprofessional. She laughed and said "you don't have hair like her." At the second visit, she again laughed and said, "I just think it's funny" and walked away. This felt rude, insensitive, and especially inappropriate given the vulnerability of hair loss. When I contacted the salon afterward, they refused to refund the second visit. I was told I could come back and pay another stylist to fix the damage, which I did not feel was reasonable given the circumstances. I understand that not every haircut works out, but professionalism, empathy, and accountability matter. I'm disappointed in how this was handled and wish the salon had taken a more customer-focused approach. Everything could improve! They truly don't know their craft. A none hairstylist and could dry my hair 10 times better. The toning ended looking orange and brassy more so than before. Color theory anyone? Also, do they don't know how to wash hair, nor blow dry it. Tension, and constant heat is required to make the hair smooth and shiny. The flat iron cannot and will not fix hair that's humid, frizzy because is not dried properly. What a waste of money. Edit: if you were the hairdresser with glasses and red hair next to my chair, then that's below for you to lie when you even approved the charges. Even when it was clear that the work was done improperly and my dissatisfaction. If you're the owner, Didn't mind paying, however after the experience, that quantity? You need the receipts? I have been here twice for a haircut and I would definitely recommend it. Going to Sola salon is a very different experience. Both times I've gotten my hair cut I've been in the room with the stylist and one other customer, so it's an interesting dynamic. I love being able to set up appointments online, which I find to be easy and convenient. Payment is done through the square card reader on her iPad, which even accepts cards with the chip (while some larger retailers are still getting on board!). On top of all of the convenience, the haircuts I have received have been very good and consistent, and at the second appointment she listened to my feedback and made every change I suggested. Jennifer is really good, especially with balyage. The atmosphere is really calming because she has her own studio and you really get to connect and not have to hear all the hustle and bustle like an open salon. She has all her own products and knows what she's talking about. I had long blonde hair and cut it to a long bob and did a balyage. She made it look natural and like my hair was just like that.
