I NEVER spend money on my hair but decided to try it out. I have very fine and very thin hair and it can be hard to find someone who can cut it right. The very nice woman who cut my hair tried, but I didn't end up loving it, in fact I hate it, but she did a great job of giving it volume when I have very little. I actually quite liked the way the back turned out, just not the front. I chopped it all off into a pixie. I'm not mad. It's only hair and I usually end up not loving my hair cuts, which is why I don't tend to cut it often or spend money on it. I was just hoping that if I went somewhere like this I would love the results. Will I be back? Maybe, but it's not because of anything other than I hate spending money on my hair. I had a wonderful experience at Pure Salon, I was greeted immediately and offered something to drink. The wait was not long before I was taken back, discussed my needs with the stylist "D" and shortly after I was taken to the shampooing station where I enjoyed a pretty amazing scalp massage, hand massage and was also provided with an eye mask which added even more relaxation. I really like that they use Aveda products as this is the product I already use at home! My hair turned out amazing, I felt very refreshed afterwards. After my visit, the owner Laura reached out to me just to follow up how my experience was. I was shocked by that kind of customer service and I will definitely be back. Madeline is amazing! After having bad service at another salon here in Louisville, I was nervous and hesitant to try another salon. My appointment started with a neck message which was a nice surprise and a quick consultation with Madeline. I showed her a few photos of what I wanted and explained to her what I didn't like about my current color. She asked a couple of questions and went straight to it. She offered hand massages while my hair was being washed and then back to her chair for the reveal.... My hair came out EXACTLY as I wanted. Phew! I was so relieved! The absolute worst haircut I have ever received. The stylist Julie did not put in any effort or seem to care. She barely looked at the photo I showed her, did not confirm that the length was ok, and just started cutting. The cut is very uneven everywhere. I had to trim it myself when I got home because it was so bad. She didn't even show me the back before I left. If you are considering going here, save yourself and go somewhere else. read more

I tried Pure Salon Spa for the first time because of the close proximity to my house. Their lukewarm Yelp reviews had me a little concerned but I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did! Entering the salon, I felt very welcomed. They even had a sign out front welcoming new clients by name! Beyond that, when I entered the salon I was enthusiastically greeted by a differently-abled woman who was stocking the shelves. I found it refreshing that the salon is so inclusive. Turnover, miscommunication, etc. will all happen in business but when your core values are strong, it will weather all seasons. I observed to staff to be patient and friendly with their helper and she was happy to be there! I prefer Aveda salons because I've been spoiled by the hot tea, neck and hand massages! I received all of these services at Pure and my tea was refilled several times. So relaxing! I came for a color treatment and cut. I was happy with the quality of my services and the stylist was very friendly. Upon leaving, I received a welcome box AND my stylist gave me a coupon for a free add-on service during my next visit. Before walking in the door, I was impressed because they had a cute welcome sign out front with the names of the first-time folks. When I signed in for my appointment I was seated in an area with tea, coffee, and water. It was only a few minutes before I was greeted for my appointment. The blowout I received was pretty standard other than the added bonus of a relaxing hand massage with an optional eye mask after your hair is washed. They also had inexpensive add-ons you could get with the blowout - like color enrichment. I didn't opt for anything extra, but was definitely tempted. When my appointment was finished I was given a welcome gift that included sample sizes of Aveda products. I felt like they went above and beyond for first time appointments to make a great impression. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because I was not allowed to redeem my 3rd blowout (bought 3 blowout Groupon). I had cancelled one of my appointments the day of because I woke up sick with a fever. I thought it was best not to risk the employees of catching my sickness. The owner made a note on my profile that I couldn't redeem my 3rd one without even having a conversation with me. I had to find out when I was at the salon attempting to reschedule. It was definitely a bummer that I couldn't get my 3rd since I thought they did a great job. read more

I was cleaning out my desk and came across a spa gift card that I hadn't used. I looked in the website for the gift card and found that Pure Salon takes them! Score for me! Years ago, I was a loyal customer and loved the experience, her but then had a family friend who opened a salon and I followed her for several years. I also love the fact they are an Aveda salon. Score! I visited Pure's website and submitted a request for an appointment. A little bit later I received a call. I scheduled my appointment A few days out. But they did offer a same day at 5. After working around a few things on my schedule I called back to move my appointment up. I arrived about 10 minutes early and sent a text to let them know I was here. Yep I got a pic of that. I was able to walk right in. Mask on, of course. I was screened at door, temperature taken and normal screening questions and offered hand sanitizer. The overwhelming smell of Aveda was all around. That scent just takes me to another world. For those who aren't familiar, it's Rosemary & Mint. I was greeted by Allison my stylist. She was super friendly and got right to it. I just came in for a hair cut. We started with a wash and a mini scalp massage, what a way to end the week. She asked some questions and went right at the cut. Just a trim and also made suggestions for extensions to help with the lack of volume this fine thin hair lacks. She dried it styled it and it immediately looked a million times better. Who can transform hair with just a trim, Allison can. She also made suggestions for products. I also left with rosemary & mint shampoo and conditioner, men's regrowth system, hair repair and free hairspray. They have a promotion if you spend $75 on product you get a free hair spray. Wow! That's an offer! They have contactless check out, which I love. They could use my gift card and my card on file. They take every step for safety, each product I purchased were wiped down and sanitized before they went Into my bag. Wow! The service and experience were amazing the cut was transformative. I was planning on going there because I wanted to buy some Aveda products anyway and thought it might be nice to have my hair washed and styled. at the end of the service they let me know it was going to be $30 for the service. The last time I checked complementary meant free. I told them I would not pay $30 and then I would pay $15 because I really liked the girl that did my hair but don't fall for the complementary gimmick. This is just a ploy to get you in The door and he use a stylus he does not have much experience so they have exposure. They do this with the hopes that you will spend more money and hopefully return to the stylist. I don't like when people try to take advantage of others. I recommend you heed my advice! read more

I've been to Pure several times. One time to get a hair cut - and like a bad first date that one time was enough for me to know I wasn't interested. The stylist was new, the cut was uneven, and I went elsewhere to get it fixed. But I did continue to come back to get my eyebrows done. They used stencils and I liked the shape they used. They keep your information on file so you don't have to remember anything. They also do eyebrow tinting. The last time I went I was a little put off because they only had me down for an eyebrow wax and not a tint. The tint literally takes a few minutes. Instead of adding it on, they made a big deal about needing to find someone with the schedule availability to do it. Why the girl doing the wax couldn't do it - I have no clue. So basically they kept putting it off as if it was a huge inconvenience and I dropped it. And haven't been back. The prices are reasonable. They have coupons for first timers and if you sign up for their emails they circulate coupons regularly. I will say I heard they've had a ton of turn over lately - which has affected the flow of scheduling and the whole business. All in all - there are a ton of salons in town that have their stuff more together. read more

I once was going to an aveda salon for years but the girl that was doing my hair decided to go out on her own so I followed her. I have blond fragile hair and it's been a mess since I've left. I get facials and massages here. Erin the massage therapist is AMAZING! She's small, but her hands are mighty! Downfall is she has a very limited schedule and they share a room between the massages and facials, so getting into them both is quite the wait. Salon is always clean and staff very nice. I have had my hair cut a many, many places. After going to this salon I was hooked. I have had 3 different people cut my hair (I call at the last minute for an appointment) and each time I have been impressed with the way my hair looks (I drastically cut my hair and dyed it one time). The service here is what definitely Hooked me. The first time I was in, they gave me water infused with cucumbers, it was so refreshing and delicious. I then received a neck massage before getting my hair washed. While I was getting my hair washed, someone came to massage my hands. I felt so pampered, and I definitely needed it!! I also received a hot stone massage!! Awesome!!! It felt so good I fell right I sleep! The only thing in sad about is I move to Ohio and now live 5 hours away:( I recently visited Louisville and made sure I stopped at my fav salon of all time and get the royal treatment!! First of all I want to make clear that I mentioned to Jennifer who appeared to be in charge that I was going to write a review to share my bad experience with the salon. I know Laura is the owner but I have not met her, even though she had been made aware of the situation. She did not bother to reach out, she, in fact, decided to allow Jennifer, who was the one texting with me, to forward the conversation they had had about me. I only know it because I specifically asked Jennifer if the owner was aware of the content of the txt she had sent me and she responded yes that she was. It said, and I quote "We will need to receive pictures from you before Saturday in order to keep your appointment" I took it very badly !!!!! And I let Jennifer know imediately that I felt threatened by having my appointment cancelled if I was not sending any pictures. Is this the way a business is supposed to communicate with its customers ? Let me give you more more details. I landed at Pure Salon Spa for the first time with a groupon. I had my first color done with highlights. The end result did not look good at all. Went back and had been switched to a different person. To make it short, the colorist and I agreed that what I wanted to acheive going to take time and it was totally fine with me. The second or third time I had seen her, do not remember very well, for some reason, a lot of unwanted warmth was showing around my face and through my roots. Also, my grey hair had not grasp the color at all and was showing through. So I reached out, had been told Jennifer was going to call me back, which she did. Asked me to send her pictures of myself, which I did, then asked me to send her pictures of what I wanted to achieve. Told her was going to look for some pictures and would send them to her. I never did because, one week after my color at the salon, I washed my hair and have to say, the overall orange halo disappeared. Maybe because I use the Mauve conditionner, but also because the colorist and I agreed on what shade of color we were working on together, she did not need any pictures. One week before my Saturday appointment, I texted Jennifer again to give her the good news about the unwanted halo disappearing but added that now we would have to see what to do about my gray hair. This is when I had been sent that txt I mentioned at the beginning, threatening me to cancel my appointment. Which, again, I replied that I did not like the sound of this at all !! I went to my 1pm appointment this past Saturday. Called from my car. This is when Jennifer, who had picked up told me that my appointment had been canceled. I was shocked !!!!! told me that she had txted me back to me to let me know, which she did, but totally I missed this one !!! don' t know how !!! Here I was parked in front of the salon being dismissed !!!!! I had never felt this way my entire life !!! When I asked why ? Told me I was a too difficult customer !!!!! Added, I, supposedly, had not be nice to the front desk !!!!! Had no idea was she was talking about !!!!!!! If the policy of this business is to send txts to their customers threatening them to cancel their appointment, so, well, this is not a place for me !! I have never been treated this way, EVER !!!!! I am not a difficult customer, I am a customer who knows what she wants. There is a big difference ! There is a way to communicate with your customers, all customers, also the ones with long hair like me, having to pay anywhere between $250 and $300. But again, it does not matter the cost of the service, there is a way to communicate with customers, period. And they failed. read more
