The owner, Janelle, is one of the most meticulous stylists my hair has ever seen. She went to college to become an engineer, and put herself through by cutting hair. After graduating, she realized she didn't like engineering and would practice her passion: cutting hair. Here's the purpose of my story: she's GOOD at cutting hair and she loves it. I never expected a stylist to engineer a cut, but she is an artisan of hair: artistic as well as thorough. She's not extremely talkative but very personable and knowledgeable about various issues. She will clean up areas that need work and also is good with choosing styles that compliment your facial structure, if you're not sure what look to go for. Cool! You can call for an appointment, or walk in. I would recommend an appointment, or at least calling ahead to make sure your favorite stylist is in. I think it's pretty clear who my favorite is! With that said, I have had other stylists cut my hair, and have always been happy. Once someone at Yoke's asked me where I got my haircut from! Weeks later when I was feeling better I called to reschedule. I was told Tara would call me back to book me in. I never received a call back from her even after several attempts. I tried booking with another experienced stylist but none would take me. I finally got a booking with what had to be a new stylist in an area that wasn't in the main salon area. So I never was able to speak to Tara again. Not on her Facebook, personal phone or through the salon. She kept raising her prices like she was a celebrity stylist. It was very rude to treat a longtime (15 years) client like that. So do your self a favor and find another stylist who appreciates your patronage.

At first I really liked it but as the days have progressed the hair really hide away because she chose to keep some of my natural colors in to allow a hide and seek kind of look. I was really hoping for a WOW kind of style and color. No one at work seemed to really notice and it left me feeling a bit bummed especially given the fact it was $140 for a few sections in my very short hair. They said they had availability but when I got to the salon, my appointment was actually scheduled for 2 weeks later. I should've taken this as a sign to just leave and get it done somewhere else. My daughter's hair was originally past her waist. The stylist cut probably 6 inches off. I told her about 2. She cut the first 2 inches and then without saying a word started cutting more. She spoke very little English and basically said it was uneven. It was not 4 inches uneven!! She asked if I wanted curls and I said no so instead without asking again put my child's hair in this braid style which I would never do. She used men's gel so my daughter's hair stinks. She put the braid style in to cover up the botched hair in the front. I also never part my child's hair in the middle. I asked for her hair to be cut all one length just a little trim. In the photos, it might look like this is layers, but it's not this is just a really terrible haircut. My daughter BARELY moved the whole haircut. For a 3 year old she did really well. I'm so disappointed in her hair. It was so long and beautiful and it's totally ruined. I'm going to have to find another stylist to fix this. I will NEVER COME BACK! Also I've always paid for the haircuts up front at their register. But immediately when the cut was done the stylist was asking if I had cash. When I said no, she seemed super annoyed and got out her phone and even though she told me the price was $35 she tried to charge me $38.50 and tried to say it was tax but usually they include the tax into the total $35 price. When I pointed this out, she got even more annoyed and then changed the price to $30 and then I ended up paying $33 with the tax. I feel so scammed and sad about my daughter's hair.

The reasons for the missing three stars. My hair cut was horrible. Not only did my hair not turn out how I tried to communicate, it was cut badly. I enjoy some choppy layers, but there was no rhyme or reason for the random layers in my hair. Now we have all had bad hair cuts, but to be charged $60 dollars to get literally less then four inches cut off was shocking. I am still confused if this salon charges by length or time. If it was time, I hope the salon can manage it more wisely. I called the salon a few hours after returning home asking if some weight could be cut from the top layers. I was treated very kindly by the other stylist(forgot her name) and was able to get in the next day. Kari was out of town at the time but still went out of her way to call and ask about the concerns of my hair. After explaining how I felt like my hair was too soft and I wasn't very happy with it, I was told to wait a few weeks to get used to my hair and live in it. That I had received the style I had shown her via picture. In a couple months she could go back through my hair after knowing more about how the texture works to get a better idea of that I want. Not knowing how much your hair cut can come up to, i wouldn't recommend this salon to friends or family just based on that. Third time's the charm, folks…read more I've had a tough time finding a stylist who can give a decent haircut in the area. It's been a lot of disappointments and a lot of hats. I think I can put my hats away now: Megan knows how to cut hair. I gave her the same spiel I'd given the other stylists: I have a history of funky hair and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm growing it out, but I'd rather have it take longer and have my hair look good along the way. I also told her I was really nervous after my last couple haircuts in the tri-cities. For the first time, I felt heard. She explained her game plan for growing out while keeping it looking tidy. She asked how I liked to style it, asked what kind of product I liked to use, and set to snip-snipping away and thinning out my thick and heavy hair. She was chatty and friendly and overall delightful. Best of all? I have a haircut I like. I look and feel like myself. After a couple months of looking and feeling frumpy, it feels great to be back to normal.

Jenni has been cutting my hair for about five years (I followed her when she switched salons). I won't let anyone else touch my hair (except for Melissa, the owner). Jenni once asked if I wanted a certain cut she had just learned about in New York (she continues her education and is current on styles, tricks, and trends even though she has years of experience) and I said yes without having seen it! Jenni said she would get a picture at the same time I said yes, we laughed. Of course I loved it. Jenni listens to me, has gotten to know my style and preferences so much that I trust her completely. am getting my hair dyed and I told her to just do whatever. I am so picky with my hair. Jenni is truly gifted. I've heard the same about Melissa from her clients as well. This is a new salon run by very talented and experienced women. I will continue to return again and again. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a new stylist/salon.
