Came in for an appointment with Rich on 12/27. (My third service with him in the past several…read moremonths) My wife and I were on our way home from picking up my 12 year old son in Long Beach, and stopped in for my 10:30am haircut appointment. We all entered the salon together, and my wife and son sat down on the bench to wait for me to finish my service. About 10 minutes in, I noticed that my wife and son were being harassed and talked down to by some random woman (hairdresser at the salon) and man-who my hair stylist eventually told me was the owner. They were raising their voices at them and pointing to a sign that said no children under the age of 13 were allowed in the salon due to insurance purposes. I genuinely thought they were joking at first, but it became clear pretty quickly when the intense interrogation of my wife and son regarding the day and year my 12 year old son (13 this week) was born that they were in fact, very serious. My wife, instead of arguing and not wanting to cause a problem, chose to just leave the salon with our son and go wait in the car. Had this been the only thing that happened, I may have been able to look past things and return to Rich in the future-however, I will unfortunately not be returning . Like I stated above, this was my third time with Rich, and while he did a great job on my first hair cut several months back, the last two appointments I have not gotten what I asked for. I decided to give it one more try this past week, and I unfortunately ended up with a horrible bob haircut that is way too short, and extremely blunt-when I asked for not much length to be taken off, and for him to just thin things out all around. Additionally, for the second appointment in a row, Rich cut the skin on my neck in two places while cutting my hair. I know that these kinds of things can happen, but it should not happen this often.

I really appreciated how transparent they are. Each stylist has a profile with a bio and a picture. The services and individual pricings are listed upfront in the booking portal, which made it easy to choose someone who fit what I was looking for. Price transparency is important to me, and at the very end I was charged exactly what I booked. My stylist was Mikayla, and she was incredibly meticulous/detail-oriented. She spent about 4.5 hours perfecting my Full Highlights, and I never felt like she was rushing through any part of the process. During the consultation, I felt heard. She listened to what I wanted without any judgment or pressure to steer me toward a different outcome. Instead, the conversation felt collaborative, with explanations that helped me make informed decisions. I know for some, having to chat for all that time may be daunting. Mikayla struck the perfect balance between friendly conversation and giving me space. She clearly communicated each step of the process before doing it.
