Quality of service in general is poor. Again, don't expect Beverly Hills service. Examples: Melissa a stylist told me she no longer was going to offer blow dries. I saw her blow drying other client hairs each time I visited the salon. Ty ! Blow dried my hair once. It took him 5 hours. Scott had to step in, and no one apologized for this inconvenience, and I was charged the full price.. The only two excellent individuals at this salon are Mikael, and Joseph. She was so sweet she even brought a snack for me and did my hair with utmost detail. She's an independent contractor with Christophe and i trusted her to do my highlights for the first time. She also gave me a cut and did gorgeous bangs. The overall process was smooth and fun thanks to her. I took a couple of pictures to show Joseph and asked him if the colors I choice were good for me and basically had no input or even hold a conversation at all! I was very uncomfortable and at the end disappointed as I didn't get what I wanted, not even close! Another reason I won't be returning to Christof I am appalled that at such a high end salon you now charge your clients to blow dry there hair when it used to be a part of the service. I had gummy hair which disintegrated due to Alees's negligence at this salon. I lost so so so much hair and what was left was frizzy, severely damaged uneven pieces as short as 3-4 inches. I Went to a consult with Alees, told her about my hair history, NO box color was ever on my hair before. She told me she can def take me from chocolate/red to ash blonde in one setting with no problem. During our consult, She specifically stated she wasn't worried about my hair and as always there may be minor damage as we are using bleach which we all know bleach is a chemical and can cause some damage. Alees did tell be not to worry at all and she is confident there will be no little to 0 damage and the result will turn out great in confidence. I communicated my concern in regards to my ends just being damaged after the coloring transition from dark to ash blonde. I told her I was ok with a one to two inch trum at most after the entire process as I def wanted to maintain the length, in which she again assured me all was fine and we didn't need a test strand so of course I trusted her. After all she was supposed to be the lead colorist and trainer. At our consult I Communicated to Alees verbatim that I was completely ok with doing this process in multiple sessions and I was not in a hurry if there was sny chance the process may jeopardize my hairs health and integrity. I expressed to her that that was my main concern. My hair was so healthy before I went to her and it had and bleach before as I clearly explained to her when she asked me. Alees did ask me if the color was more important or the health of my hair at the consult. So this was a convo we had for a while at the consult and just to reiterate I specifically communicated to Alees the health and integrity of my hair is way more important to me. That week when I was at the hair appt we got started. In the middle of the process after bleach and foils were removed my hair was falling out in chunks and the texture was gummy. She stopped told me she couldn't go through with it or I'd lose hair. I agreed of course as no one would jeopardized loosing hair for a color transition! But little did I know I actually lost so so much hair already and no one communicated to me that I did until I asked to get up out from the sink area I was on for well over an hour and when I walked to the mirror I was in complete shock. My hair was gummy, it had already disengaged from the ends up and was still disintegrating as I brushed it. My hair was 40-50% thinned out. I was in ano much shock I just cried and continued brushing chunks of hair as it was falling out. Earlier on Alees still wanted me to pay and didn't acknowledge what happened to me. She left and never came back to me, never apologized and the owner Scott cut my hair to level it out due to the pieces being so uneven as I lost so so much hair. The entire journey was an absolute horror movie. I had the worst experience with Alees and I've never had anything like this ever happen to me at a hair salon EVER. Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself. My hair is permanently damaged frizzed broken all over and for lack of a better word destroyed. Shame on Alees's work in which she claims she takes 'pride' in her work. Shame on her work and shame on her behavior after the fact. No apology no accountability, just a creepy side glare she gave me while the owner was trying to fix my hair she completely destroyed.now my hair is frizzy within each strand and it dried severely damaged. No matter what hair mask or product I put to help my hair..... it's completely destroyed. My hair is chemically burned and each strand is frizzed and fried. Yesterday, I had a beyond fantastic experience at Cristophe Salon Newport Beach. My first time for color services at this salon, I met with Jen. I was very specific on my needs, and she totally delivered. She's so sweet, and easygoing. I'm so happy I found her. I'm very thrilled with my results. My shades of blonde are exactly what I envisioned. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I needed a blow dry and was matched with Mikael. I hit it off right away, as he put me at easy with his exceptional talent. For the last decade, I've been going to Tammy for regular mani/pedis. I can't say enough great things about her and her services. Her treatments are so luxurious and relaxing with a keen attention to detail. For the manicure, I get regular polish on my natural nails and it lasts all week! For the pedicure, Tammy offers a foot scrub accompanied by a warm towel wrap and hot stone massage as well as a regular massage, in addition to the basics. There's only one other nail tech in the space so it is peaceful and quiet. I almost fall asleep every time. If she's running a few minutes behind, she always lets me know. As if all this isn't enough, she is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. If you're looking for an inexpensive polish change, Tammy isn't for you. Besides being modern, trendy, and being the home to so many talented stylists that are perfectly accommodating to their sassy OC clientele... the architecture of this hair salon is surprisingly SO conducive to COVID protocol. They have a few floor stories and people are basically apartment complex levels away from each other. A day before my appointment I received a text message about my upcoming appointment which I canceled again and made a second call to the salon. Again, I received the voice mail and I left a message. To preface, what's nice about Cristophe Salon itself, is they have stylists dedicated to cut or coloring - not both, which I prefer. I personally feel each is its own discipline that should have 100% focus and devotion on. When I saw that Monica is Vidal Sassoon trained (the creme de la creme of hair academies) and is also a corrective cut specialist, I felt like this was my best option, and I was right! First, she has the most warm and down to earth disposition, is easy to chat with and listened attentively to all my concerns. Most importantly, she delivered and gave me exactly what I was looking for and then some. I have wavy hair that I like air dry and need the right kind of layers to bring bounce to my curls and to balance my face out width wise. I've been torn about writing this as I don't want any sort of retaliation as I see that other people that leave negative reviews get an unsavory response back. But I have been frustrated enough now with the work that Michael and his assistants did on my hair. I came in there to get some brassiness taken care of on previous babylights from another colorist from my last city I lived in. He immediately criticized the work (which I didn't take offense too) but I'm thinking if you are criticizing them that means the work the he was going to do would be spectacular and would totally be better than my last colorist. So he explains that I needed to either go darker or lighter to "fix" and color correct. I showed him some pictures and he felt he could slightly lighten it to "lift" the color and have it "melt." He and his assistants did their thing and a few hours later I'm blonde as hell. It ended up so much more blonde than I wanted. I was to scared to tell him I hated it as he comes off as someone with a bad attitude. He hardly said anything to me during the several hours I was in the chair. He's somewhat aloof and I felt I was on a conveyer belt as just another customer coming through that he ends up just "hyper-blonding out." His assistants ring me up for an almost $500 bill. I mentally just tried to convince myself that the blonde was ok and that it's summer so I'll just darken it later. In looking at the Salon picture that was taken and shown to me after I checked out - I thought to myself maybe I can live with this even though it's uncomfortably more blonde than I ever wanted. This color blonde was NOTHING like the picture I showed him even though he felt is was the same. I'd never in a million years have asked to be this light and this yellow. After researching taking care of blonde hair, I decided to drop money on Oribe purple shampoo and Olaplex 3 thinking these products could help with the yellow blonde that I had. It sure enough didn't. I absolutely hate the job that Michael and assistants did. The picture here is only a month out from the appointment. Look at how there's no dimension and my hair is almost a solid blonde and is so brittle. I will never go back again. Hair is very personal and I know that many people are getting incredible results from Michael. I was unlucky. Crossing my fingers I don't get punished for writing my honest opinion.
