I used this salon for many years when I lived in Livonia. I last minute on a summer Saturday called to see if they take walk ins. They offered an appointment time that same day. The staff is so great here, from owner Lisa to the receptionist. The cut was quick and expertly executed. She blew out and straightened my naturally curly hair too. For a very fair price! Lisa is hands down the best hair stylist I have ever been to. She is outstanding in both cuts and color, which is why getting an appointment with she is very hard. But let me tell you, it is worth the wait. I have been seeing Lisa off and on for about two years. My sister, mom, and good friend all go to her as well. This is a no-frills salon. Everyone is very down to earth and makes you feel so welcome. Lisa is very honest about what she thinks will look good; she listens, she gives advice and is a great conversationalist. Her dad owns the salon, and she has been working there for many years. She is invested in making sure her clients leave happy. You just can't beat the price either. For a half head of highlights and a base color for $100 or base color and cut for $80, you will never find another salon who does high-quality work for such a reasonable price. Plus, I always ask what the amount is going to be before I go, and before Lisa starts her work, and they are very honest and upfront about the cost. They aren't going to tell you $50 and end up charging you $150 which has happened to me several times at other salons. Lisa also did my hair for my sister wedding and did a phenomenal job. Today was my first appointment with this salon and with Jess. I selected her upon Yelp reviews and wanted to provide my own review since I don't know the area well and often rely upon then. I can't recommend Jess highly enough. We talked about what I wanted, how many inches would be cut off, how I plan to "sometimes" wear my hair in an updo, and all of the prices BEFORE she got started. She did a full highlight and color, which turned out beautifully. She spent so much time precisely cutting my hair that I was amazed. She is VERY, VERY skilled and she's also fun. Prices. I will NEVER go to a salon where they charge me extra to blow dry my hair. I think it's ridiculous to pay high prices for a color/cut and then have to pay even more to have them blow-dry that cut. For one thing, what a bad practice because you and the stylist both have no idea how the cut will look until it's been dried and styled. What if more refining has to be done? Too bad, you are out of there and they are on to the next money-making client. This is not the case with Jess. I feel she is a very fair person and that is the type of person I like to deal with. I LOVE this place. Small hair salon in a strip mall. There is nothing uppity about this place. They make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. I have been going to this salon for many years. I used to see one girl, who has since stopped doing hair, so I started seeing Lisa. Lisa is absolutely amazing. She listens to what you want, makes suggestions based on your hair. You never feel rushed or a burden, as other salons have made me feel. I am always offered a drink when I come in. And Lisa takes the time to style my hair. My favorite place! I happened upon Hair Concepts very randomly. I was in a friend's wedding & the hair stylist came to do our hair in the hotel. She was nice and did a decent job so I asked her where she worked and called the next week to make an appointment (I was in desperate need of a hair cut). When I came in for my appointment I was told the girl I had originally scheduled with was sick so another girl would be doing my hair today. Fine by me...I just figured I would get a trim and probably not come back. I was WAY wrong. Lisa ended up cutting my hair and did an amazing job! Needless to say...I came back and have been going back for the last 5 years! I can't say enough good things about Lisa...she always does a great job cutting and styling my hair. She is very talented and good at what she does. I have always color my hair myself and she even gives me tips on how to do it (I have never had a stylist help me before, usually they try and get you to come in and spend money so they can do it...not Lisa!). I also never feel rushed or like she is rushing to get me done and move on. She also uses great products that smell great and work wonders. Anytime I have an event (wedding, anniversary, vacation, etc.) I pop in for her to style my hair & I always look like a million bucks! The prices are also great, very reasonable. Coincidently all services were completed by Jess. She has done an awesome job, taming my eyebrows when they get a little out of control and cutting my hair exactly how I want it, despite my lack of description. I was already extremely anxious about the process, so this made the whole session unenjoyable and depressing. I'm not sure why there aren't more reviews for this salon! I had my hair cut by Lauren, and she really repaired an awful, uneven cut I got somewhere else. She was able to keep my length but take away everything that made it look so weird, and I couldn't be happier. Everyone was very friendly, the facilities were very clean, and I'll definitely be back! The only awkward thing is they're not allowed to put tips on your credit card, so make sure you bring that in cash - it'll be worth the stop at the ATM. read more

I went in my first time and there was a wedding party there. No where to sit while I waited for my stylist. Receptionist did not offer to get me a chair so I stood there like an idiot, feeling awkward. Liked my haircut though. Next time I went for color. While stylist was blow drying my hair, she dropped the brush on the floor and picked up, kept using. Also had brows done and waxing container looked disgusting. I think the stylist should move on to a more upscale place. Cost for the root touch up was $55 which is way overpriced for a salon of this caliber. read more

I have been looking for a good place to get my hair cut and styled in a way I like. I have been going through with different shops only to leave with a bad cut and wait 5-6 wks. for it to grow out to start over with someone else at another shop. I was running out of time since my Granddaughters wedding was coming up very soon and I needed a decent cut from someone who knew what they were doing. I am very fussy about my hair and how it looks but feel that if my hair looks good then that makes me feel good about myself. I ran into a nice lady at my Vet while taking my cat in and noticed her hair cut and asked her where she got it done at and she was so nice to give me the name of the place and the name of the person who did her hair. "Hair Concepts", in Livonia and she said Paul did her hair. Today I went for my very first app. but certainly not my last, this place is GREAT!!! Paul the owner was the one who cut my hair and styled it exactly the way I asked and was able to fix the mess that was left by the past 4 different hairdressers I went to before this. He was so nice and he listened to me and looked at the pictures I had of the way I wanted it to look like. I could tell just by the way he was cutting and styling that he knew exactly what he was doing.
