I, too, would like to speak to Salon Leader for a refund since I can't get my hair back! I've never in all my years had a stylist mess up a basic bob haircut that was already in a bob! I asked for a graduated bob- you know with a slight angle... I walked out with a lopsided I don't know what you call it hairdo. I'm beyond upset! Whenever I call to speak with Salon Leader, I get the run around-- call tomorrow; this evening; in the morning. Frustrating. read more

I made an appointment for my granddaughter for today at 5:30 with Penelope, very specifically wanted her. Granddaughter is having 6th grade promotion tomorrow so this was special! When my daughter arrived with granddaughter they told her that Penelope didn't even know about appointment. My daughter showed her confirmation email. At that point Penelope was in middle of doing someone else's hair. So her appointment was canceled with ZERO notification from HC! They then told her that someone else could do it but they would have to wait an hour!!! The person who did her hair, wash, dry and style with curling iron, did a horrible job, curls are almost already out! In addition, they charged $23 extra for "long hair". We got her hair done a few weeks ago, after cutting, they said it was short enough to not charge the extra fee. The curls done by Mikala lasted 3 days!!!! So, lost our appointment, gave us a stylist we did not want, charged an extra fee that was NOT charged 2 weeks ago, got shitty curls, and now my granddaughter is in tears. This cost me $82 with tip (which my daughter should NOT have paid.). HC didn't offer any type of discount or anything to make up for THEIR error!!!!!! Horrible Service!! read more

I would really like to speak to a manager to get a refund. I had a miserable experience at Hair Cuttery Kingstowne with Gina. I showed her a picture of a balayage starting halfway down the head, and said I wanted that but higher up on my head. She asked to see a picture of the last time I had blonde hair and I show her how I had my brown roots showing much higher than the reference photo. She takes this as I was straight lines of bleach all over my hair 1-2 cm from my scalp. It looked horrible! She claims that was what I wanted and she clarified it with me. I don't understand who would want that. I think there is a crazy language barrier that prevented her from understanding me and me from understanding her. I tried to be patient and asked her to fix it and try to touch up the roots with brown so it's not so choppy. But at this point she was frustrated and sloppily slapped brown hair dye over the top of my head, and down the middle of the back?? I asked her to rinse that back part out because what in the world was she doing. She didn't flip through the hair and carefully do layers, she was just sloppy and rushed. It came out so messy and so patchy. I cried for 2 hours when I came home because I spent 4 hours there and $200 and then had to spend more time and pay someone even more than I originally paid, for color correction, which they still couldn't fix all the way because it was so bad. My friend went to this salon. The woman told her she would charge $30 to make a hair bun. My friend then made an appointment with her to make the bun. After she did her hair the woman then afterwards she charged my friend $67. My friend said her hair bun was horrible, and that woman should not be making hair buns for no one. Went to Gina twice (the second time by mistake). I always show the stylist a picture. I wanted a very simple layered bob style that retained my current hair length. I asked her not to give me a bi-level or a mullet and the first thing she did was to chop off the sides of my hair, after I had worked for two months to grow it back out! She's very rough and continually scratched me with her fingernails. I'm usually very tolerant but I asked her to stop scratching my ears during the hair wash. She's good with color, but terrible with cuts. Makes me wonder if all hair stylists have only one skill. On the flip side, TSEHA gave me a wonderful cut the evening before the Chinese New Year. I highly recommend TSEHA. She is very precise and listens to your requests. read more

Terrible customer service. Booked an appointment for my daughter for 10 am since I had received a great cut. It took over 15 minutes, and I even asked the person to confirm. My daughter arrived, and they said there was an appointment but it was for half an hour earlier (whaaatt?). They proceeded to take another walk-in and made her sit even though she arrived earlier. She has long, wavy, thick hair, and they really chopped up her layers. It was uneven. She was upset with the cut and treatment. Ended up spending more to take her elsewhere. I get that a 20 minute HC cut is not going to look like a $50 salon cut, but it was really, really uneven. read more

I had an appointment for my daughter to get a hair cut at 5:15 for any stylist. We checked in around 5:05. Another woman without an appointment walked in behind us and checked in. Around 5:18 a man walked in and asked the stylist what do you have. Available? He said he wanted something asap. The woman took the man to the back and started to wash his hair. I stood up and asked how do you take a walk in before a person with an appointment and another walk in. The stylist claimed the man had an appointment. I said then why did he ask what do you have available? She then proceeded to ignore us. The other woman who was waiting she asked for the manager name and they said they do not have one. She then asked for a district manager she said they do not have one. Another stylist said the man is a regular so they can take them first. read more

This review is for Sofia. I'm moving cross country in a week and desperately needed a trim. My last was about a year ago, so I was well overdue. I was able to get a Sunday appointment around lunchtime with Sofia. She was awesome! I had the conditioning treatment fl during my trim, and she suggested a few products which I brought home with me, including Olaplex. The price was reasonable for the services received. I don't understand how I call and speak to a manager and she tells me a stylist is totally free if I make my appointment at 6:15 pm at night and when I walk into the office that same stylist accepts a person (I can only assume a walk in) at 6:10 pm. How does that even make sense or better yet fair to me a person who called in advance, made an appointment and confirmed the details (to include the fact the stylist would be free) the night before??? Hair cuttery = ballin' on a budget. It's that simple. I go for my monthly trims with any stylist (not a master stylist because it's more expensive for nothing... I like June!) and add a $13 deep condition treatment. Ask for the mint and tea tree shampoo!!! It's amazing! Also if your hair is super oily they wash twice if you ask nicely :) just make sure oh are clear what you expect and want in terms of length. I like Fahima and I pay her master rate when I need my hair cut to be styled. Avoid the Springfield plaza location....At all costs!! Go to Rose Hill and ask for Zarmina for a great master stylist or the Kingstowne location and ask for Fahima for a great master stylist or June for a trim! read more

I just left this Hair Cuttery with a really excellent haircut from Soraia. I had grown my hair out for my wedding and now wanted to get rid of stringy split ends and get some body back in my hair before my honeymoon trip. Soraia did a conditioning treatment and then a cut with layers. I air dry my hair so she scrunched some mousse in before I left and my hair looks great! It is hard to get a good haircut for curly hair, I'll be back to have Soraia cut it in the future for sure! read more

Bottom line, do not make an appointment with Gina. The cut was very uneven at the bottom, which made sense after only being in her chair for 8 minutes. On top of that, I had the worst shampooing experience to date. The shampoo was simply spread on the top layer of my hair then washed away, zero working it in. Point of shampoo is to the clean the scalp and it never reached my skin. I pay for the wash because I find it worth the relaxing couple of minutes. I was in the chair for no more than one minute The salon received two stars back from me thanks to the manager at the time. After seeing how uneven my hair was (because I didn't realized the stylist hadn't given me a mirror to check out my haircut until after I got home), I returned the next day on a busy Saturday to either get it fixed or get my money back. The lady that served me was super helpful and it looked perfect after she fixed it. Wish I had seen her from the beginning. read more

I will start by saying the staff was very nice and the stylist that worked on me tried. I have natural hair and I made sure to ask her if she had ever done African American hair before. I came only for a shampoo, condition and blow dry. She started with no product and did not even part my hair into sections. I picked up the comb myself to detangle the front because she just started blow drying with no prep. Long story short, I left with my roots damn and my ends straight.
