No one will ever cut your hair like Doug. He doesn't just cut your hair, he molds it to your face. He has good insight on what is currently trendy and stylish with both men and women's hairstyles. If you decide to get a full hair shampoo and wash, cut, and style, you will be more than satisfied with the job he has done. However, you might walk out of there thinking, "It doesn't look as good as I thought it would..." To that I say, give it a couple days. Doug doesn't just cut your hair and style it to look good for that day, he molds your hair to look good as it grows out. Not only that, he will teach you how to style that way so you have "salon looking" hair everyday. Perhaps I'm bias, especially considering the man saw me grow from a small boy to a man and cut my hair every step of the way. I bought the Groupon for the haircut and partial highlights. When I got there Angela was finishing up some formal styles but got me in at the time that I made my appointment for. We talked about what I wanted to do -- even more surprising, she understood what I wanted! I'm so used to stylists not caring or understanding what I want to do with my hair. She got my foils in and let me hang out while she did some other haircuts. I watched her with kids and was amazed. She did a great job even though the kids were squirming the whole time! After we got my foils out she started on my hair. I do have short hair, but want to grow it out. She did a great job trimming and making sure that nothing was uneven, then she talked to me about what she plans to do next time I come back so we can make sure my hair grows naturally and doesn't look like a helmet of hair. Overall I was pleased with the service. The other reviewers are right -- this place isn't much on the outside but it is very spacious inside. The service was great and I look forward to going back -- and finally having someone who knows what she's doing with my hair!

I wasn't particularly happy with any of the results; they weren't terrible, but they weren't great. But then, I asked Carrie Rosen at Plum (which is worth checking out, if you're in the area!) who's also a curly diva and directed me to Amy Adams in the Hair Graphics studio, just on the outskirts of Shepherdstown. And she's *awesome*. While she downplayed her skills, I haven't been this pleased with my curls in years. Every time I leave her my hair is smooth and and frizz-less; she understands gradual and subtle layers that let the curls come out without being huge or triangle-shaped. When she styles it, it looks good; the first time you wash it and let it dry, it looks good! She's also really comfortable to have work on you while you're wearing the plastic supercape; she doesn't talk your ear off but she's easy to talk to whether you have something....or nothing....to say. My stylist wasn't available on such short notice and I had a mess of faded color in that awkward growing out stage of length. My appt. was with Leslie, who did an awesome job! She made me feel heard/understood regarding what I wanted as well as what I wanted to stay away from. She asked me questions throughout the cut, made suggestions but did not push her opinion. With the color, I gave her the liberty to fix the mess I had created. In both instances, the result was beyond what I expected. Everyone loved my hair and I've received quite a few compliments from friends and strangers alike. I also had my eyebrows reshaped while I was there. I'm not big on waxing, as I have very sensitive skin, so I don't have it done regularly. The few times I have had it done, my brows have always been trimmed up but never reshaped. Although I did break out from it, I am happy with the result. I prefer my brows with more of an arch than previous trimming. Further, the price for everything (cut, color, highlight, wax) was $118; much lower than I had expected it to be. That alone made a huge impression: great service for an affordable price! The only downside (reason for 4/5 star rating) is that in her thoroughness, she took a lot of time. The appt. was at 12:30 and I didn't get out of there until 3:15. Perhaps it was due to the two-toned color and carefulness of Leslie, particularly because I am a new customer and she may not have wanted to rush it/didn't know me. Now that I know my appts. at Sherry's will last longer than my regular stylist, I will allow more time for them. Even with the extra time allowance, I will definitely return for other appts. I was impressed with Leslie's ability to actively listen and consider what I wanted above her own professional opinion, as well as her excellent skill in applying my wishes.
