A few years ago I went to a different Hair Cuttery in Orange Park that completely messed up my haircut. Don't know what that lady was doing. I came to this location to try and fix it. They absolutely saved me!! Had to go shorter but it ended up being really cute!! The reason I'm putting three stars is I recently went back to this location for a blunt in the back trim, face framing layers in the front, and curtain bangs. I ended up with someone I've never had cut my hair before. Oh. My. Word. How in the world does this girl have a license to cut hair?! This new lady was very kind and stayed an hour after closing for me to do this, which I was very grateful for. She had said coming in around 45 mins before they closed was fine (I called ahead asking if I could come that night or if I should wait until the next day and she said just to come in that night). However, she did everything wrong!! Not to mention the bickering her and the other closing lady had in-front of my husband and I. I wish I could remember their names. The other lady wanting to leave with her bf left the lady cutting my hair still alone in the salon when apparently that's against their policy. So awkward and unprofessional of the one who left the one cutting my hair. Anyways, the one cutting my hair that night gave me layers in the back when I told her not to. And then - the front. Oh my gosh it was terrible!! I didn't even realize how bad it was until I got home!! The hair in the whole front half of my head was chopped short. She gave me such thick bangs that started in the middle of my head and they were chunks! I had to keep asking her to try and feather/blend these out. There was no hair left in the front to create face framing layers. When I asked where they were she lifted up like maybe 10 strands of the long hair I had left in the front and pointed to non existent layers. Oh!! And she didn't even cut the back straight!! Y'all, she did me so dirty!! Luckily, I had a friend who was able to somewhat salvage what I had left. I'm still trying to grow all of this out. I gave the woman a HUGE tip out of gratitude for her staying so late for me and for doing, what I thought at first, was a pretty decent job. Gosh I wish I didn't do that. I'm a people pleaser. I should have gone back and complained but I just couldn't. Let me just say this about Hair Cuttery: I have never had a terrible haircut or a disaster hair cut, until I started coming to their locations. Sometimes they have good stylist. And sometimes, their stylist should not be allowed to hold scissors. Spend the extra money and go to a nicer salon. Don't gamble with Hair Cuttery unless you've found someone who is good and you STICK with that person. Or do it yourself, or find a friend who can do it for you. Y'all probably get better results anyways. Let's just say I'm scarred. read more

they butchered my hair, i asked for long curtain bangs, layers, and to trim my dead ends. When i initially waked in there was no clients which gave me a weird vibe. he rushed my hair, cut the long curtain bangs to the middle of my nose, and it was so chopping and short and THICK! i am unable to fix it and if i want to it cost a lot because how bad it is. I don't remember his name but he was bald. I went in earlier today and asked for a trim and curtain bangs. he absolutely BUTCHERED my hair like i'm talking about actual bangs. He cut it so high up and straight across when it was supposed to be at an angle. They also charged me extra for the length of my hair??? My hair is literally unfixable with how short he made the bangs. Do not go here and if you do and get a bald guy, RUN. read more

I made an appointment, came in a little early and got seated. I only needed a 1-2" trim & shape done to my hairstyle. Thirty minutes later I was finished and when I got home noticed one side was 1 inch shorter than the other. My hair is shoulder length so it shouldn't have been difficult to notice. Another lady tried to fix it but it is still sooooo uneven! i ended up getting 5 inches of hair cut! i look like i have a mullet! my hair was all one nice length! This is horrible! This Hair Cuttery has upgraded! They moved locations, still the same shopping center just a few suites down but they redid the inside for a nicer more modern look. I'm a little skeptical to get my hair cut at the lower end hair cutting places cause once they cut it there's nothing you can do if they jack your hair up! BUT I have to say every time I have come here for a cut ( really just a trim with long layers cut in) I have left happy. We recently went to get my daughters hair cut for back to school, she wanted a shoulder length with long layers cut through and the stylist did it perfect! The stylist ( Victoria) was young, and well... stylish, which I like cause if your hair is lookin a mess I don't want you doing my hair...lol...she did a great job and I hope she stays so we can go see her again. The hairdressers are so nice and listen to what you want and need . Highly recommended all of them . They all do amazing hair.

Best thing about them is that they're open on the weekend and you set an appointment online. I arrived early and was greeted right away, by the stylists, but she was helping another customer, so I took a seat. There is a kiosk at the counter where you can check in, which I opted for since the stylist remained busy with another customer. Long story short, my expectations were to get a quick trim on an existing hairstyle. This is the place for that. I was seated only a few minutes after my appointment time, the stylist Cyntavia, was pleasant, and I had no issues with the haircut. This was my usual haircut spot until today. Nothing spectacular, but a quick haircut place and easy to get to. I would typically call and set and appointment for whomever was available that day. However, when I called today "Johana" told me that unless I knew who I wanted to set an appointment with I had to Walk-in and wait. I have been going to this location for years and called in to meet with my normal stylist Susan only to be told she has been out for a few weeks. After explaining what I needed, they booked an appt with stylist "Julie" for a basic, simple haircut with a few lowlight foils. When I got there for my appt, not only was I told that the stylist "wasn't comfortable" doing low light foils (which mind you is a VERY basic request), they wouldn't accommodate me with fitting me in with another stylist because everyone was "booked" for the day. Pathetic customer service and was my last step through their doors. If I were the owner of this location, I would have done everything in my power to fix their scheduling mistake and the lack of training for their team. I'll make sure everyone else knows of my wonderful experience with this location. read more

If a talented, professional, and friendly stylist is what you're looking for, then you're in luck. Jessica Auclair has been coloring and cutting my hair for four years, and here's why. We met under the worst circumstances in another salon. I made the mistake of trying a new colorist without checking on Yelp, and Jessica (thankfully!) did a four hour corrective color on me to repair the damage. I'm so grateful to have found her because she put me at ease, made me laugh (despite the dreadful "cheetah spots" given to me by an unqualified stylist), and brought back my original color. Personally, I didn't think this was possible...but she did it, and I've been a loyal customer ever since. Since then, we've done everything from platinum blond, to candy-color highlights, to my gorgeous copper-to-blond sombre. She's an absolute genius, and she listens to what you want. I guarantee you will leave happier than when you walked in. Ask for her specifically. You'll be glad you did. read more

I went into the shop wanting a trim to reshape my hair. I explained I wanted no more then 2 to 3 inches off and the shape cleaned up. Joanne proceed to take about 5 minutes to cut my hair and took at least 8 inches off my hair. I never had a chance to stop her and when I expressed my concern, she said, :well you can still put in a ponytail" I was so upset when I left the shop I could not even speak. I went into the shop with my hair to the middle of my back and came out not even touching my shoulders. There is nothing I can do to get my hair back, and nobody will be held accountable for the quality of service received. My advice, DO NOT go to this shop. read more

I made an appointment with Mark for a buzz cut on the sides and back - longer on top. My hair was an ear lobe lenght bob. One hour and 50 minutes later, I'd had enough and stopped the service. He quoted me a price of $45 for the buzz cut. I told him that was exhorbitant given that the price board states $18. He told me he was a master stylist (he's not, per the manager, Dawn) and that he gave me a whole new look and spent a lot of time with me. Excuse me, but should I pay for the fact that you can't give a buzz cut to a woman in less than two hours, especially given you are a 'barber'? He also spent about 15 minutes looking through photos on his phone of 'styles he could cut'. What? The stylist at the station next to me did three buzz cuts on men in the time it took Mark to do mine, and one man had more hair than I did. I also heard what the other stylist charged the men for their haircuts. Mark ended up charging me $28 - $10 more than the list price, because he's a master! I sent my comments to the district manager and it seems Mark may be a reflection of management, because no one from Hair Cuttery has shown any interest in discussing this price discrimination. Women should not pay more for the same haircut for which men pay greater than 100% less. This is discrimination against women and if you are a female, please take heed. read more
