Jay has been doing my hair for the past 6 months and I walk out happy everytime. My hair is healthier and my dead hair that I thought would never start growing is growing because of Jay. My son and I are loyal clients of Debbie's. She is a "master stylist" and worth the literal few extra dollars to make an appointment with! (I believe Dan is another "master stylist." He is quite good as well.) At any rate, for the first time possibly ever? I truly love my wavy/curly hair! I have issues w/ frizz and have tried so many products, dryers, lotions and potions over the years of trying to tame it, to no avail. Debbie has wild, curly (natural!) hair, similar to mine. She taught me how to care for mine, in addition to using/reccommending a product my A&G called "Recoil." I LOVE this stuff (I get it on ebay to save some money) and my hair looks healthier than it has (since probably in my mid 20's) in many years, plus has real CURLS in it, instead of the former FRIZZ w/ some accidental curls :) My son, who is pretty low maintenance, is actually picky about his hair. Years prio, we have left both 'Hair Cuttery' and 'Sports Clips' with him in TEARS! (one cut was so bad at 'Sports Clips' [even after instructing the hairdresser to LEAVE THE TOP LONG] that I complained and didn't pay for it (I did leave the stylist a tip). Because of how much I like Debbie, I made an appointment for my son to get cut by Debbie. Well, he LOVED his cut and style!!! He is now a "regular" of Debbie's like me. Neither of us with go to anyone else there (he can probably get away w/ seeing Dan though). In addition to Debbie, I also really like how Rachel does my (thick) brows. My skin is overly sensitive and my eye and brow area almost always "blow up" after being waxed. I requested the sensitive skin wax (I always do) and barely had any irritation this time. Rachel also kept me abreast of every move she made during the wax, which was a first that I appreciated. I love how she did my brows and I will now be her regular for them. I will admit to not being very experienced regarding haircuts in general. During the past decade this might have been my first real one. But there was a time when my career forced me to keep it short. I did frequent HC's in my area and had less than ok results. The problem I had back then was that you usually got different stylists each time, some worked out well, others not so much. I eventually found an independent stylist who worked out of her home, my cuts were cheaper, better and easy to schedule. Finally it was time for a new do( or even the same with less hair) I was recommended this place and even the stylist. She was not available but another " master" stylist was. ( apparently this is a higher ranking than other hair cutters who work here, and a few $ more in cost too) I regret that I can't remember the very nice gentleman's name, but I think he did a good job. Perhaps an inch or two longer would have been preferred, I probably would have felt that way no matter what the final length was. It's just hair, it will either fall out, get shorter or grow back. It doesn't change who we " are". But it certainly changes how others see us, and to a lesser extent, how we see ourselves. As for me, I hope it continues to grow a bit, but when I feel the need for change I'd certainly come back here. Hmmm..... maybe crewcut??? read more

I had a great experience at this location today! I used to go to the one right next to my apartment, but after my stylist left and I got a horrible cut from a rude stylist I had to find a new location. Still opted for a hair cutt ery because I think it's a convenient good value. Anyhow, I hate getting my hair done in general because I have horrible anxiety. But I made it in anyhow because after months with the bad cut I looked like a muskrat. I was taken back nearly immediately. My stylist was apparently brand new, which was ok, everyone has to start somewhere. She had a supervisor give her some hands on tips throughout (to be expected for training so no complaints here) but she was very nice and very professional (so was the woman supervising her!) She told me she was sorry she didn't talk too much, that she liked to concentrate. Girrrrrllll that is fine by me! I have a hard time with small talk outside of my own job and her easygoing attitude made all the difference. It is so refreshing to look like myself again, my cut was perfect and I like the product she chose for my hair too. So happy to have found a new stylist and a new Hair Cuttery location to frequent. I started coming here and never had any issue until recently. I had a 12:30 with a master stylist, Abby, and then someone called me to come at 1pm because she was running behind. I show up at 1:00 and I sit, still waiting until I get up at 1:35 and try to reschedule. Problem is my stylist was going away and couldn't fit me in for a week. I was so pissed as I had no other time that day, since I booked that appointment time for a reason. I made an appointment for my husband and young son of 18 months for 4pm today. Upon arrival, we were told our hair stylist was sick and we should have been notified. We never were. The staff seemed annoyed, said they couldn't give us someone else, and did not accommodate us at all. Not one person apologized. One of the stylists said "Blame the governor" Instead of apologizing. Left with bruises! This was my first visit to hair Cuttery on chews Landing Rd. My husband went there prior.My appt was with Debbie Stires, OMG she literally beat me up! While washing dye from my hair, she was so rough! I asked her to stop explaining I had a past surgery to my neck. she said oh ok, but still was hurting me. Back in the chair. She cont to pull at my hair, putting clips in and blow drying extremely rough. I was so uncomfortable I left in pain! Two days later there were bruises on the back of my neck. My husband had an appt with his hairdresser and mentioned what happened and his stylist said "oh there's a joke about her breaking peoples necks". After hearing about this joke I contacted the district leader because I found out Debbie Stires is the manager and a so-called master designer lol. I did receive a full refund. My husband's hairdresser was forced to no longer have him as a customer lol. I've always had a positive experience at this location until Tuesday 6/19. I walked in the door at 8:35p and was politely greeted by a stylist, she said someone will be right with me. I sat on a waiting chair for about 7 minutes. I was greeted by another employee (possibly a manager) who told me they stop taking new customers at 8:45p. I apologized and explained I just need 1 buzz on the sides and scissors on top. A 15 minute cut. She said it's too late and they cant take me. As I glanced at my watch, I replied, it's only 8:42p and I've been waiting at least 5 minutes. She apologized again, ushered me out and locked the door behind me. I was in my car at 8:45p By the way, there was a total of 4 employees and 1 customer in the store at this time. Maybe the hours on the door should say open till 8:30p. read more

An absolutely horrible experience. Went for a trim. Rachel asked if I wanted to try slight angles in my hair so I said sure. It looked fine when wet but once it dried you could see she had done almost nothing to the one side and on the other side she had just cut a chunk off extremely short. Everyone has had bad experiences at a Hair Cuttery one day or another. My trips here in the past two years have been awesome except for one time (I took a cold shower and fresh red dye went completely dull (9 months ago?) until bleach was thrown on top - very recently - which brought me to my visit here today. Ali was helpful and knew what I exactly wanted and strived for it and what would fit me perfectly. She was able to blend my hair to where I couldn't see bad lines before. After my cut at the place who originally bleached, my hair felt dry and hay-like. After Ali's cut, my hair feels smooth and actually healthy after a bleach and toner treatment. This place five years ago, I would call Hair Butchery, today and for the past two years, I can call this place Scalp Blessery (bad joke. Sorry, not sorry). The bill was 100.00 total. 70 for bleach, dye, cut, and dry, $20 tip, and a heating spray. Not bad at all. read more
