UPDATE: the owner Audriana contacted my workplace to speak to my boss (I picked up the call) and…read morethe manger created/shared false reviews about my personal work when I turned to IG (@msxlinny) to tell my story. CENTER CITY LOCATION
I went to Stephanie for color and a haircut, and was utterly disappointed. I came in with blonde hair and outgrown roots. I had previously spoken to Stephanie on IG with pictures of what my hair currently looked like and what I asked for: which was to stay mostly blonde with the smallest shadow root possible for low maintenance. When I came in Monday morning, I reiterated what I wanted and was sure to mention I wanted "definitely lighter, and brighter" blonde. I noticed that Stephanie only dyed some strands of my hair fully, while other strands had my ends hanging out of the foil. As I am not a hair stylist, I asked her if my ends would be dyed while she was washing my hair out. She responded, "what do you mean? If I did that, all your hair would fall off" in a condescending tone, as if I should have known better. Again, I know nothing about hair. As Stephanie proceeded to apply toner to my hair, she said to me: "Your hair is not cooperating. Your hair isn't doing what I wanted it to do," and rushed to get another mixture to add to my hair. At this point, I'm brought back to the chair and looked at myself through the mirror in shock: my hair looked almost BLACK. Stephanie proceeds to blow dry a portion of my hair, remaining silent, not speaking a single word. When she's finished, she says, "I don't know what happened. Your hair didn't do what I wanted it to. How do you feel about it?" Mind you, I came in as a blonde, wanting to be a lighter and brighter blonde with my roots touched up. You can imagine my disbelief when after 3 hours of bleach and dye, that my once light, blonde hair is now a dark, ash brown-- the complete opposite of what I asked for. I told her I didn't like it at all, and began to break down in tears. Stephanie tells me "I really don't know what happened. There's really nothing I can do to fix it but make your hair even darker. I don't feel comfortable doing anything else to your hair." At this point, my hair is completely dark brown all around, only a portion of my hair is blow dried (the rest still wet), it hasn't been cut, and I'm in the chair crying. Stephanie proceeds to walk away, and I'm left alone, crying for the next 15 minutes. NO resolution was offered. When Stephanie returns, the owner asks her what happened. Stephanie proceeds to tell her the steps she took, and ended with "I don't know what happened." Another 15 minutes pass by, and Stephanie comes back and asks if I want her to finish blow drying my hair to see how it looks. She finishes and tells me, "there's nothing I can do. Your hair just absorbed the toner." Again, Stephanie walks away. Another 5 minutes pass by and I ask her, "How are you going to fix this? Am I gonna be able to be blonde again?" She tells me, "Honestly, I don't know how long it would take. I don't want to give you the wrong answer." Note: it's been about 45 minutes since she finished the color, and blow dried a portion of my hair. She has NOT offered a solution. At this point, I've been in the salon for almost 4 hours. Once again, I press for a solution, asking Stephanie what can be done. Stephanie says, "maybe you can wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and see if some toner comes out. Reach out to me over the weekend and we'll reevaluate what can be done." At this point, I've given up on the day and accepted that my hair has gone from blonde to brown. The same night, I direct messaged her on instagram, the same way I did to book the initial appointment. I asked Stephanie what I can do in the meantime to prep/repair my hair for it to be fixed as it is feeling very thin and dry. I also asked when/how often I should wash my hair. Stephanie opened my message, leaves me on "seen/read" and never responds. I would never wish this experience on anyone. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. They lack professionalism and concern for their clients' hair. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
