I'm extremely disappointed with Hair Cuttery's treatment of loyal customers. I've been bringing both of my kids to this location regularly for the past three years and have consistently tipped 20% every single visit. Despite being a long-standing customer, today I was running just 11 minutes late and was told my appointment had been cancelled and they refused to take my child when I walked in. There was no attempt to accommodate, no flexibility, and no consideration for the fact that we've been repeat customers for years. Life happens -- especially with kids -- and treating a regular customer this way shows a complete lack of customer care and basic professionalism. Policies are one thing, but how you treat people matters. This experience made it clear that loyalty means nothing here. Very disappointing and not the way to build long-term relationships with families. I would not be returning to this location ever. read more

Went in for a haircut 1/9 (1.5 hrs before closing) & when I got home & styled it i noticed it was very uneven so I called on 1/10 as soon as they opened & went in for them to correct it which the stylist happened to be the manager. While taking clippers to the bottom of the cut she clipped my necklace but didn't say anything. I thought it was just my hair & never even thought it could be my necklace. I came straight home & it fell out of my shirt, not to mention I also had some uneven pieces still but became so focused on the necklace so I immediately called about it and the manager apologized & told me she was filling the claim so they could reimburse me. Didn't question anything so I felt like she must have known she clipped it. She said I would hear from them by Monday/Tuesday. They reached out to me via email & I sent them the receipt for the necklace. Their claims department then called me a couple of days later to interview me and said they needed to speak to the manager also but when they called her initially she was busy so it would be a couple of days before they could talk to her & they needed to speak to her because I also have no proof since I said there were no witnesses. Not sure why I would make all this up, but ok? So almost 2 months went by & I never heard from them so I followed up & I then received a text message from their claims department saying the claim was denied and a letter was mailed to me & to the salon. I thought it was strange that they would text message me and not call or email me. So I sent another email to the district manager & sent her pics of the haircut & my receipt for the service and she responded back saying too much time has passed so they will not reimburse me for the cut & also they will not be reimbursing me for the necklace. So at the end of the day I paid $47 for a crappy haircut where they had 2 attempts to correct it & most importantly I'm also out $150 that my husband spent on my anniversary gift! I don't normally like to write bad reviews especially because the stylists were very nice and i didn't want to get any in trouble but they did not deliver on the service & the way they went about the situation & took no accountability is not ok so left me with no other option but to make others aware of how the corporation handles their customers. read more

I went in today only for a touch up balayage & a trim. I was very clear & specific to Yolonda about what I wanted. She cut INCHES off my hair & when I told her that she took a lot off, she looked at me & said "it'll grow back"... I've been trying SO HARD to grow my hair out & it was finally starting to grow & she cut off a good 3inches when I asked for a slight trim. I hate that I paid $167 for this, this money was not easy to come by & I'm mother of 2 littles so it's not often I'm even able to get out & do for myself like this. I would not even give 1/2 a star! I took time from work to bring my mother for a perm we scheduled with Jasmine. It took 3 hours and 45 minutes - my moms hair is short less than 3 inches long!!!! The first hour & 50 minutes were spent putting in the rollers. Jasmines excessively long acrylic nails were only part of the problem. I understand someone who is learning or new, but where is the mentorship?? Her "bangs" were left straight and flat; a number of rollers fell out during the chemical processing so she has parts of her hair that are perfectly straight, and the back of her shirt was wet to her waist. my 86 year old mother said she never wants a perm again. (She has had perms all her life). She cried all the way home. Even though I know she will never read this, I am uncomfortable sharing, but want to save someone else the heartache. My mother's hair looks like a a poodle rescued from a shelter. I am extremely disappointed with not only the outcome, but the service and communication as well. Avoid the heartache and hassle. Terrible haircut. Normally it takes 25-30 minutes for my cut. I was in and out in 7 minutes. She buzzed both my lengths, no blending, no scissors. She quickly poked at me around the ears and neck. My cut around the ears is terrible, my sideburn are super crooked. I'm not sure if she was trying to rush out of there, but this is one of the worst cuts I've gotten. I've never had someone rush me out after five minutes. No care was taken at all. read more

I have been here twice now and both the times I have gotten decent to good haircuts and good service. The cost of men's standard haircut (no shampoo) is $18. I have gotten haircuts from stylists named Axia and Audradrienne (?)...if I remember her name correctly. This place tends to be busy over the weekends, especially in the late afternoon. Thus, it's good to check-in on their webpage before coming in. The wait area is kind of small so you may have to stand if the chairs are all taken. I would give them 3.5 stars for my experience. read more

I went in for a haircut and asked for a blunt cut, wash and flat iron.. Lauren was very sweet but I don't feel like she paid enough attention to detail. I noticed when I got home I had build up in my hair still, my ends weren't even all around and the top half of my hair was untouched.. so I'm still shedding split ends.... Not sure why I was charged more for my hair type but it wasn't worth what I paid. It felt rushed. I didn't bother asking for adjustments because her next appointment had already been waiting. I made an appointment here for my sister who previously got her haircut at the Hair Cuttery in Libertyville which closed down. The stylist (I think her name was Sarah) took more than twice as long as this cut usually takes and was not wearing a mask. I thought we would be in and out because the cut usually takes 20 minutes or we would have asked her to put on a mask. Then as she was finishing up I noticed that the cut was uneven. I took my daughter to get her hair cut. she has straight hair ok, I asked for layers ok LAYERS and what I got was crap. she curled her hair after so I wasn't able to see how it turned out. The next day when she showered I was shocked. her hair was cut in only two layers, the normal length and then a cut in half way to create ONE layer. I did not pay $40 for one freaking layer, unless I'm wrong but when I ask for layers I think it should be more than you. horrible cut, never going back. for that price, ill go somewhere way better. read more

My kids get their hair cuts here and I have come in twice since it opened. Can't really point out any one stylist as being exceptional; they all seem to be somewhat mediocre. Price for a cut and shampoo is pretty decent, especially for kids under 8 : $10. My review is basically from the perspective of taking my daughter, full price and son, kids cut. The wait here at times can get crazy and seldom accurately quoted. I have come in been quoted 30 min and walked out after waiting an hr. Unfortunately there are no decent salons in the area for a kids cut that will take an appt. My son actually prefers Sport Clips, but then you have to hassle with the damn coupons to get a comparable cost. Also on Sundays, Cuttery opens an hr earlier (9a vs 10a). One of the most annoying things with Cuttery is their stupid key cards. They do not count towards anything(free cuts,etc), they never note the clipper #,etc. You can't access your account to see what stylist did the cut. It is a complete waste from the client perspective, but yet they always ask for it. Its a better option than Supercuts next to Wal Mart, which employs stylists with the worst attitude. As a side note, last time in, there was a stylist that could pass for Bristol Palin. read more

I walked in (I have very thick curly hair) greeted by the front desk and she goes "can I help you" and I respond "just checking in" and she yells "can I help you!!" When the Lady who is going to cut my hair is ready the first thing she does is tell me my cut is not flattering my face. fine I can accept that, but what happened next was the worst experience of my life. she started off by cutting my hair completely DRY. didn't even ask how much I wanted off just chopped away. but before she started chopping she BRUSHED IT OUT. my curls were crying. it was a frizz ball and she just made it look even more poofy. I've done so much research for my hair and how to take care of it and I don't need this lady telling me I'm not doing the right things. you may think She took these actions because I have curls because she continued to cut my sibling who has completely straight hair dry as well. Because of the convienience and cost, I stopped in for a cut. Meghan was my stylist and gave me probably one of the best cuts I have ever had. The cost is pricier than most "pop-in" salons at $31 (with deep condition and style) but still cheaper than a full service salon. I returned a few weeks later for full high and low lights and she is a very talented colorist. She pays attention to detail, no bleeding or feathering. The bleach could have lifted a tad lighter so I am suspect of the strength of bleach they use. No fault of Meghans tho. She explained the cost before beginning and although it came to $150, it is as good a highlight and any other high-end salon I have been to. I will definitely return to Meghan!! read more

Terrible. I booked an appointment with Deanne and she totally ruined my hair. First of all, she insulted it by saying my hair had no shape, and when I told her my concerns about my last haircut being super choppy by giving me intense layers, she gave me exactly that. There was a whole chunk of hair that was so awkwardy long and looked so bad that I had to fix it with regular scissors at home, which obviously didn't turn out that well (but was still an improvment). The hair also turned out extremely short, even though I had said I wanted just a trim and wanted to keep the hair long. I also had asked for face framing, but to her that was just cutting a too-big chunk of hair at the front at such an awkward length which made my hair look completely uneven. My hair after the haircut looked so weird, and was basically unfixable because she had cut it so short even though I told her not to do that! I had also asked her to make all layering/face framing subtle, which did not happen! Basically, she she listened to about half of my requests, and did not make anything look good. On top of that, my hair is curly, I do not think she knows how to work with curly hair. This is why I don't trust anyone to cut my hair. read more

I went in this morning for a haircut and eyebrow waxing...I left in tears. My hair cut is choppy and she ignored my bangs completely. I would have noticed if I let her blow dry, but I opted to spend the time getting my eyebrows cleaned up instead. Mistake! I AM MISSING THE CENTER OF MY LEFT EYEBROW! Their response... "we won't charge you for the wax" and "go to Sephora. They can show you how to color it in". It's cost me twice the amount that it would have for the wax and it's not helping much. read more
