I've been getting my hair done at Hair Directors for at least 15 years. Doreen usually takes care of me, but I've also had Jamie & Emily cut & style my hair in the past. I've never been disappointed. I have VERY thick medium length hair. It's not easy for a stylist! When I've gotten a Brazilian Blowout (at least twice), I was so happy with the results. beware, this salon does not sanitize the tools they use on your hair, at least Colleen doesn't. after she finished blow drying my hair, she was pulling the hair out of the brush she used on me and i said is that all from me, she said no. So there ya go, this is how head lice is transferred. read more

Honestly if you are thinking of going here think twice. I see they have a 25 percent offer on the home page on yelp, what a joke! If you take the 25 percent off they will make you pay for it! I brought my daughter in for a Brazilian blowout that was done by Colleen. She used half the product required because it was a coupon they advertised . I called them after I washed my daughters hair and it was still curly . It was supposed to relax the hair yet I couldn't pull the hair from the scalp because of the curl at the scalp to flat iron it. I called and was told to come in so they could assess the hair. When I went back I told Doreen and Colleen I was not happy and wanted them to redo it. they would not redo the blowout. I am attaching a picture of my daughters hair after shampooing the first time. Colleen stated it " may be wavy' after a month or Two because she had curly hair. Doreen the owner does not know how to treat customers. But then I should have come here in YELP and read the other Brazilian blowout review done with the SAME experience. Believe your YELP reviews yelpers! I will make a point to come back and keep this review alive and well . Money wasted $240$ for hair and another $100 for the hair product! They do not tell you that you have to continue to use the Brazilian shampoo and conditioner and deep conditioning masque in order for the process to work! read more

I highly recommend Doreen and Hair Directors! My husband and I tried several salons in the northwest suburbs before discovering Hair Directors. We had been going to a salon near our home for the convenience, but we were not impressed with the unfriendly, rushed service and high prices. After we both experienced cut and color nightmares from a new stylist, we decided it was time to switch. I found Hair Directors online after reading the positive reviews. We decided to give it a try and were booked with Doreen, the owner of the salon. We were greeted immediately by the friendly front desk staff and were offered a variety of beverages. Doreen listened patiently to both of our hair concerns, and took her time giving me different options for color as well as explaining that a Brazilian Blowout would help my daily struggles with frizz and unwanted curls. I decided to try the Brazilian Blowout after my color, and I was thrilled with the results!! I had a Keratin treatment about 6 months prior, and I had to wait 3 days to wash my hair. Also it was the middle of summer and I couldn't wear a ponytail or clips during that time because it would leave a dent in my hair. With the Brazilian Blowout, I could wear a ponytail immediately and there was no wait to wash my hair. My hair was so soft and sleek, and the treatment cut my blow drying time in half. I came to Hair Directors with terribly damaged hair that was done at a different place. I was devastated, my fair was burnt and thin and was falling out. At Hair Directors they knew exactly what to do with it and how to fix such extensive damage. So I got on a "treatment plan" which involved a few 10-minute visits spread over next several weeks before any new dying can be done. After that, I did dye my hair with highlights at Hair Directors, and it looks great now! Thanks to this wonderful team. They also always offer you a drink and I love their hot tea in cold winters. She knows how to handle little toddlers who doesn't like having haircuts. My 2 year son hated the sound of hair clippers and is sensitive to itchiness due to little hair pieces falling on his neck or ear. Even when he cries, screams and kicks the chair, Soon manages to cut his hair in about 5 minutes without cutting his ear or herself. Price is on the cheap side as well. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER...BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, LIES, RIP OFF!!! I do not recommend this place on a few notes they have no set business hours seems like the owner Doreen comes and goes as pleases how is that professional?!  Second I went in for the first time to get Brazilian Blowout thinking it would smooth out my hair which is the whole point of the product and it came out half done.  I bought the additional products thinking it would work and the owner Doreen did my hair guaranteed her work, after my first shower my hair came out frizzy and wavy. I was in disgust due to spending over $200 for this session. I finally went back to try and get back a refund, no point on getting it redone when all Doreen did was criticized my cut and color that was done by a different salon.  As someone that owns a business she sure didnt have a clue on what good customer service was at all!!  I felt in the end I was cheapin out of a great experience and angry that she tried to get more money out of me to get a haircut in addition to her trying to re-do the session and worst part is being lied to, she said I would get my refund. I went in person to collect my refund and was loed to over the phone Doreen made it clear "no refunds" are given only guranteed a BAD JOB!! If she guranteed her work she should of included a haircut with the repeat session, its all about making the customer happy...maybe thats why I only saw older women (over 70) come into her shop.  She doesnt know how to deal with a younger crowd, heck even customers for that matter.   WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! read more

Doreen is a fantastic stylist who's been doing my hair for over 20 years. What i especially appreciate is how accomodating she is if an emergency or crisis arises and you need some immediate care. She really comes through for you. I also love how reasonably priced she is for the quality of the service you receive. I've been getting the Brazilian Blowout with Doreen for over 5 years and she does an excellent job each and every time I get my hair done. My hair alway comes out silky smooth and beautiful. I don't understand the negative comment from a previous customer getting half a Brazilian Blowout??? This makes no sense since you are sitting in front of a mirror watching the whole process. What clown would walk out of the salon with half her head done? DO NOT GO HERE FOR MAKEUP!!!! Maybe for hair the stylists are good.. but other than that this place is a definite rip off... I went here to get my makeup done and there were so many complications that I didn't know what to do other than pay and leave as fast as I could. The lady who did my "makeup" didn't seem like she knew what she was doing and used ONLY and ALL my makeup products besides one, which was blush since I didn't have it.. Not only that but she didn't have any eyelash glue so I wasn't able to do my fake eyelashes. Then at the end.. I had to help her try to do my eyeliner since she didn't know how to do a wing or anything. She put my brown glow powder on my nose and forehead and nothing looked professional.. After I said I was in a rush and late for prom pictures I decided to leave ASAP and I had only half my face looking awful and they still made me pay $40 for pretty much my makeup they used with a poor makeup "professional" look. Please save your time and money and don't go here.. I came home crying and stressed since I had to redo all my makeup while being late to my event.. read more
