I was trying to find a nice hair salon closer to my house so I decided to give this place a try. I made an appointment through their app that requires a nonrefundable deposit unless you cancel one or two days before your appointment. I showed up when I thought I made the appointment for. There was another customer that walked in just in front of me and she sat in awaiting area. I asked her if there was a receptionist and she said she just text her stylist to let her know she was there. I had never been there before and didn't request a particular person. Also, no phone number like that was provided to me. I looked around and could only find two staff members in the middle of cutting other people's hair. They have no receptionist and were completely ignoring me. After walking around the front and side entrance area for about 15 minutes someone finally came out. She apologized saying that she thought I was friends with the other lady and that's why she didn't check on me. She went to look up my appointment and found that it was supposed to be the week prior somehow. she was nice enough to make me an appointment for the following week and I was not charged that other deposit. When I came back the following week for my appointment, the stylist was about 10 minutes late and took forever to cut my hair. It's a simple haircut and took an entire hour without washing or styling. She also took a couple phone calls from her daughter during my appointment and apologized multiple times stating that was out of the ordinary. She was very nice but I would not come back here. During my first visit, I noticed a sign on the front entrance that there was absolutely no children allowed. When I was waiting to be helped, I noticed there was a child about eight years old that seemed to be one of the stylists' children that was in the main work area watching cartoons while people are getting their haircut. This is not a professional salon. I was really hoping this would be a good place. It was a similar haircut to what I received at Great Clips but took four times as long. read more

I was there for 5 hours. My hair looks horrible and is nothing like I asked for. (All I wanted my roots to match the bottom of my hair. I would've been ok if it wasn't perfect, but honestly it looked better with overgrown roots.) To top it off, the stylist got bleach all over my shirt and ruined it, then lied to me and told me it was just water when I told her my back was wet and that the cape wasn't working. I will never be back. For what it's worth though, for the 5 hours I was there I watched the make up artist make 4 different clients look absolutely GORGEOUS, so if you need her, go! read more

I came here for a silk press and trim a few months ago. I hated my hair. They used a product line I had never heard of, called Black Carbon 500. I don't think I like the line. My hair was extremely " heavy" feeling after I got it done. Zero movement, no body, and felt oily. A coworker of mine had the same experience. I came here again and unfortunately did not have a great experience like before. I came to get my hair colored and based on other reviews here, I went to Kathy. I told the receptionist I heard about her via Yelp. She got Kathy who gave me a consultation. I showed her the picture of what I wanted and she said she could do it. When she applied the color, she teased my hair which was painful and I've never had a Stylist do that for color. She had to do a double process so it took a long time. She asked if I wanted my eyebrows done and I said yes. She said total would be 225. She burned me eyelid when she waxed them. She wanted to cut 4 inches of my hair even though I said I only wanted the damaged ends cut. The hair looked nothing like picture and I looked like grease ball because she said she had to leave product in to protect my hair. When I checked out and showed the 25% Off check in with yelp. The receptionist did not want to honor saying we don't deal with yelp. I said that then she needed to contact yelp to have it removed. They eventually honored it, but I was disappointed that the owner did not come over to settle it. The salon needs an overhaul in general. Very unprofessional. I observed several Stylist eating at station and not cleaning hands and putting hands in clients hair. Never again read more

Hairstylist is very good, however, her credit card machine is set to default at 14% tip! I asked for my hair not to be cut short it was and it had no hair at sides and back now. It will take me forever to grow! Stylist doesn't return my mags and only said when I asked for it to be corrected a, week later.. There are folks who cone6in every week. To each their own. I prefer to give my money to shelters for abused women who can do their hair.. not line their pockets every week convincing me I need to come in every week. Next time, I will put my foot down and do not let them cut my hair lower than my request and picture I brought to show. read more

Horrible! and an absolute fraud! Where do i start..... 1) I called them before I purchased a groupon for a keratin treatment and asked if the keartin they use will only calm the frizz in my hair, and not straighten it? They said yes! well that was lie number one. Being a native New Yorker I know what good stylist are capable of. I purchased the groupon which was $80 for a keratin treatment. When I arrive the lady who's name was katy or kathy asked me how much I paid for my groupon when I said the price she says "You have to pay an extra $40.00 because your hair is longer" umm ok so what the hell did I buy the groupon for if I am being charged regular price? She ignored my comment on that one. 2) I repeated myself over and over that I only wanted a protein treatment to calm my frizz, and the keratin better not flatten my curls. Again she agreed....Lie #2. My natural south american soft curls are now ruined. This kathy lady who was suppose to be a NYC stylist was a very outdated stylist from Puerto Rico trying to get me to purchase highlights. I said numerous times I was not interested. Stylist are supposed to keep up with modern styles and demands, this lady was against anything modern even talked about how she still waxes eyebrows over threading.....How 1990's! 3)Upon checkout and overpaying she tells me I need to make an appointment for a week to come back and wash and blowdry my hair and that will cost me another $40. $50 if I didnt bring my own shampoo. Ok! who the hell charges $10 for shampoo use? wth! needless to say I already knew I wasnt coming back for that especially when I can do a better job myself at home and save $40. This place is horrible. They are not New York stylist! They ruined my hair! so much frizz now even more than before i spent $130 for them to mess up my hair. Having to do multiple treatments now to revive my hair. Stay Away! They just want to rip you off! I have had several keratin treatments before this one for under $100 yes with my longish hair and never did it mess up my curls. I am not commenting on the hair services, only massage. As the name implies, this is a hair salon that has a room for a massage rather than a spa setting. That would have been fine with me, but that was not the problem. What an awful experience. I got a babysitter for my toddler and was so excited for my massage with John, it was supposed to be a special treat. Got there about 10 minutes early, signed in with the receptionist who seemed nice and sat down at a table to wait. And wait. And wait. No one offered me a water or acknowledged me sitting there for so long. After 20 minutes past my appointment time I got up and asked the receptionist if John was even there. She said no but he was on his way and she'd call him again. I wonder if I hadn't asked how long I would have sat there. I sat back down. 5-10 or so minutes later she came over and said he wouldn't be in until much later. Would I like to reschedule? Um NO. I certainly don't want to get a babysitter again, waste an hour of my time and hope John shows up. If he couldn't make it, at least call to tell me or the receptionist should have said something when I checked in. Not to mention I didn't get a massage! read more

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! The massage during the shampoo was also wonderful! My appointment was at 1 and I was done at 330!!! That was great timing especially for a Friday afternoon. This review is long overdue! A week ago, Monday, I called Lesline, the owner of Hair in Motion of New York early in the morning. I really needed help with my hair! Emotionally, I literally needed to be rescued! I believe that Lesline heard me with her heart and she changed her schedule to accommodate me. I can honestly say that after taking care of my hair, my spirit was so lifted up that I could take on the world. She is a doctor in her own right! In my case, there is not a pill, nor an injection nor a psychologist that could have helped me as much as she did last week. I still smile when I look at myself in the mirror this morning! Unfortunately, this was a failed short hair attempt for me. I understand that cutting fine short hair is hard and I would be perfectly happy if I get this hair at Super cuts for 20 box. But for 75 dollars I expect the stylist to know how to do undercuts. She has no clue why I am not happy. She did not even take her time to look at the photo I showed. I will never go back there. This salon is OK if you stick to what you purchased on Groupon. The first time I visited last year with a groupon specifying I had to use Kathy (Cathy?) for a Keratin Treatment. While I was in the shampoo bowl she informed me I had to have a haircut. I told her I wasn't interested in a haircut especially if it wasn't included in the price I already paid for Groupon. She said it was not but really tried to press it. It would be an additional $20. She did the Keratin treatment and also informed me that I would need an appointment in 4 to 5 days to have her shampoo and flat iron hair and that I should not wet hair before then. Since the salon is a ways from me and my schedule did not permit that I declined. I did tip her $20. I got the game of trying to add more business on while I was there. Call me silly but I just went back for another Keratin treatment this year with a Groupon (but I absolutely love the product she used). This time she insisted I needed 2 extra ounces of serum since my hair was longer (?). This would cost me $20. Ok I agreed. She also insisted I come back for her to wash out product in 4 or 5 days with my OWN shampoo for $40. I thought about it but declined. I really love the product they use and it works well on my hair even without a haircut or another appointment. I found myself playing a Kitchen beautician and tried highlighting my hair on my own and it was a complete DISATER. I called in to the Hair in motion salon and told them what I had done and they asked me to come in for a consultation. The beautician "Shan" looked through my hair and talked me through the process, she made sure I was comfortable before committing to anything. By the time she was done, my hair looked polished and laid for the gods. Yesterday, March 2, 2015, I visited Hair In Motion of NY at 10:30 am (2121 S Hiawassee Rd, Orlando, FL 32835) for a massage I purchased in Groupon.com. I spent only 10 min in the massage table and the only way I can describe my experience yesterday is using the words: disturbing, disgusting, pervert and molested. The massage "professional" (male) took me to the massage room and we talked briefly about what areas of my body I need more attention due to stress, pain, etc. While I was changing to get ready for my massage I noticed the room wasn't as neat (clean) as other massage rooms that I have gotten massages from. The massage table had lots of tear and wear (especially in the head resting piece area/almost all leather was chipped and I had too small pieces of paper towels to cover over it). Once my massage started in the neck area I was very pleased because he was doing a very good job. Then he moved his body to the left side of the table and started to work on the left side of my back, once again doing a great job. I noticed after a couple of minutes that every time he pushed his hands to do movements in my back, his body was physically getting in contact with my left arm (synchronized). I noticed that the body part that it was contact with my arm was stiff and warm. (Not something normal or I had experienced in the past). This kept happening and the more he pushed his body against my arm the more I realized that he was pushing his PENIS against me. Yes... "his penis". It was very stiff and warm. He was wearing light black sweat pants and he was doing this on purpose!!!! I was so in shock that I started double guessing myself! I was in denial! I froze! Then there was no more doubt, he kept massaging my back and when he went to the lowest portion of my back he pressed his penis against the palm of my hand. (I was belly side down) I was horrified and thinking of what to say to get out of the room fast. Then he shifted to the right side of my back and started to massage me, once again pushing his private part against my right arm, I asked him if he could step out because I needed to use the restroom. While he was leaving the room I noticed he grabbed his cell phone. (Why did he have a cell phone inside the room? Was I getting recorded too?) I walked to the receptionist, told her exactly what happened and I left the Salon. I didn't want to spend 1 more minute in that place. This experience was horrifying and couldn't believe a "professional" would do such a thing. He knew exactly how to do it, because he synchronized his hand massage with his body movement every time. I spoke to the owner of the Salon yesterday I told her my experience. (Groupon was notified as well) read more
